Hi

Men my problem is that my galaxy ace don't boot on download mode It stock on black screen
whit some of light
I tried using the bottom combo, adb force. (add reboot download)
I think that I damage my bootloader(download mode) do you think this can be repair whit usb
jigg??

I have an old phone laying around and I thought I could use it to just fiddle around with it, when
I turn it on it goes to the recovery mode (as far as I know it hasn't been flashed before) now I
want to flash it, but I can't make it seem to into download mode, I've tried:

Volume down + Home Key + Power Key

Volume Up & Down + Power Key

But none of the approaches seem to work, it either turns off or boots up the same recovery mode
screen, it sometimes reboots and I just see a black screen(its lighten up, but a black screen is just
what pops up)

My question here is what other options I have to boot my device in Download mode? Or what
could be the issue with this device?

I was trying to install cyanogenmod and successfully booted into download mode the first time
by holding volume up and volume down buttons and plugging in the phone. I installed the driver
as per the instructions but Heimdall wasn't working so I wanted to disconnect and try again. My
phone works fine after disconnecting, but whenever I try to boot into download mode, it goes to
recovery mode instead. Can someone help me boot it into download mode again so I can install
clockworkmod? Thanks so much!

You should be able to enter download mode by completely powering down. Next press
POWER+VOLUME DOWN+HOME KEY together.

Alternatively, when you power down the phone, hold vol+, vol- and the power button and insert
the USB cable to the phone and it should boot up into download mode. (The cable should already
be plugged into the PC)

That's what I've been doing, and it worked the first time, but now when I do the same thing, it
just boots me into recovery mode.

With phone on and USB not plugged in, hold Power + VOL U + VOL D -- wait 10 seconds until
phone reboots, then let go of power button but keep holding VOL -- you'll go into ODIN after a
short SAMSUNG screen, if I remember correctly.

this is the first and only root method that has worked for my T989D, ive read literally hundreds
of threads from fellow S2X owners who all share the same problem, pcs not recognizing their
device and/or not being able to go into download mode...well I wont say this is a guarantee but, I
have tried literally everything every single person in every thread has said for advice and in the
end, no one guide did the trick completely, but rather a mesh of a few.....1st, back up your phone
if you can wirelessly through kies or another online file manager site. 2nd do a full factory reset
with stock dialer *2767*3855#(cant be undone) 3rd download latest version of kies for drivers
on PC and download necessary files from here:h t t
p://mirror41.downloadandroidrom.com/download/GalaxyS2TMobile/rooting/tmobilegalaxys2ro
otICS.zip?token=800439833 where it says click to download, not on sponsored link, 4th. on
phone,in stock dialer enter *#7594# and select "enable shutdown with long press end call" box .
5th, go to settings, then and more... select usb utilities, and press connect to pc,(without cable in
phone) then it will say connect cable, do it and select usb storage quick before it disappears, once
your sure the phone and pc are aware of each other(in your device list it will be labelled android
and not under unspecified) and the icon in your notification isnt going away, hit dissconnect usb
storage button and hit home button. 6th, hold down vol+ and vol- together first for a sec, make
sure your holding right the middle, and then hold power key until vibration, immediately let go
of power key AND AND!!! vol+ continuing to hold JUST vol- for another couple secs until
download screen appears, and again same method when booting cwm, I was astonished when it
worked, and all because of letting go of vol+ and power at vibrate, again thank you ten fold
everyone who gave me tips!

Try pressing and holding volume down.... Then insert the phone Micro Usb cable (cable
connected to the pc of course).

Or press and hold both volume up and volume down inserting the cord.

The phone has to be turned off when trying the cord method.

Or try a download mode jig.

There are multiple methods to boot your Galaxy Ace into download mode. The most
handy (and hardware coded) method is about pressing a combination of keys for a few seconds
on your Galaxy Ace. Others are software based, lets have a look them below:

1) Boot into Galaxy Ace Download Mode Using HARDWARE BUTTONS

This method is a fail-proof method thatll always work for you, unless youve broken one of
hardware keys. In such a case youd be left with only the other two methods discussed below.

Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
This is completely optional. You can choose to keep the device switched On if you wish to
Press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together and release them once a
Warning screen shows up on your device
Press Volume Up to accept the warning and boot into download mode [ad1] 2) Boot into
Galaxy Ace Download Mode Using ADB

ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge, a tool used to send terminal commands to a Android
device via a PC command line. ADB requires a bit of setup, but it gets the job done with much
lesser effort than hardware buttons, so pretty useful in cases when youve to boot in download
mode frequently. Also, if (for some reason) your hardware buttons arent working than this is a
very good alternative to boot into download mode.

And make sure youve proper drivers installed for your device. You can download driver from

Extract the file (ADB files for Download Mode.zip) you downloaded from the link above to a
separate folder on your computer
Prepare your phone
Enable developer options: Go to your phones Settings select About phone Scroll to the
bottom and tap on Build number seven times to enable developer options
Enable USB Debugging: Open phones Settings select Developer options Tick the USB
debugging checkbox (under Debugging section)
Connect your phone to PC with a USB cable and if/when a pop-up screen shows up on Phone
asking you to Allow USB debugging? for the computer, make sure you tick the checkbox and
tap OK
Open the folder where you extracted the files and double-click/run the Boot into Download
Mode.bat file to reboot your device into download mode
If the script shows any error than that means either your device is not connected or you dont
have proper driver for your device installed on your PC. For help with driver, check

FYI, the Boot into Download Mode.bat script file that we used above to boot your device into
download mode just uses one line of command:

adb reboot bootloader

If you already have ADB setup on your computer and you know how to use it, then you may just
use the command given above to boot into download mode.

3) Boot into Galaxy Ace Download Mode Using Quick Boot (Reboot) APP

Yes! Theres an app for rebooting your phone into download mode, and its more easier than the
methods we discussed above. But it wont work unless youve root access on your device, and
since not everyone roots their device, weve put this as the last method here.

ROOT ACCESS REQUIRED

Install the Quick Boot (Reboot) app from Play Store on your Galaxy Ace |
Open the app and grant Root Access
Select Bootloader from the list of options and itll boot your device into download mode

Thats all.

We got several comments that some of the users of Samsung Galaxy S GT-19000 are unable to
get into the download mode and the recovery mode which is a must before updating with the
new firmware. Though this problem is normal and there is no need to panic if you too are
experiencing this issue with your Galaxy. Many of them have experienced this issue, but since
Samsung doesnt allow you to flash, so even if you take your phone to the service centre of
Samsung they will not solve this problem as flashing your device with the firmware of your
choice is not yet allowed by the Samsung.

Actually many users are unable to put the device in the download and recovery mode by using
the 3 button combo and due to which users are unable to try the leaked firmwares and also some
of the mods like Cyanogen mod etc. Please note that the below procedure will work for most of
the users but the below procedure is not advisable for those whose Galaxy S GT I9000 is locked
by their operators. Most importantly, we take no liability for any problem arised after following
the below procedure. So, lets see how you can get away with this problem. Its also
recommended to take a of all your data as in an unlikely event you may even lose all the data in
your phone.

Make sure that you have the following things before proceeding to the procedure,

Make sure that you have all the drivers installed on your Galaxy S which can be done from
Kies PC suite.
Also, make sure that you install ADB on your system and also USB debugging mode should
be turned on which can be done by going to Settings>Applications>Development and select
USB debugging.
Now, without plugging in the USB cable just type in *#0228# in the phone dialer, and ensure
that Voltage value is at least 3800 (mV).(This must be done WITHOUT plugging in the USB
cable).
Now, download the and also the Modified SBL tar file. Ensure that you have removed your
SIM and external microSD card before initiating this process

Now, after this ensure that you are having the admin rights to the PC from which you are
accessing it. After downloading the Odin, click on the PDA tab and select the SBL tar file which
you have downloaded. Most importantly ensure that you have unchecked the option of
Repartition and checked the option of Phone Boot loader Update as shown in the below
screen shot and apart from this no other option needs to be selected like Phone, CSC, Dump or
also dont check mark any other options as this may completely mess up your mobile which may
eventually lead to bricking of your device.

Now, after selecting the options as mentioned above, you will now have to start a command
prompt and need to go to the location where you have installed the ADB. After this you will
have to enter the following command,

adb reboot download

Now, you will see that your device will enter in the download mode, please here dont pull out
the device from the USB as this may do a serious damage to the device, now if you check the
screen, you will see that the ID:COM block will turn yellow as shown in the above screen
shot. If it doesnt turn yellow, repeat the whole procedure again till the block turns yellow. Now,
after checking all the options as shown above you are now ready to proceed.
Now, just click on the Start button in the Odin and wait till the whole process gets finished
as it will take some amount of time after which your phone will be rebooted automatically.

So, thats it after the reboot, you can now check that the download mode and the recovery mode
in your GT I9000 will be working fine. Actually in some of the batch phones this problem is
there, though most of the handsets are OK and doesnt require the above procedure for activating
the download mode and recovery mode combo.

Now, as both the download mode and the recovery mode are activated, you can download the
latest firmware for which is one of the most battery efficient and also one of the smoothest
firmware.

Galaxy S4 features the Android Download Mode which is a sub-system of your device that can
used to flash stock firmware files or any other type of customization file. In this post you will
find instructions on how you can easily boot the Download Mode for your smartphone.

Samsung devices are using the Download Mode for their devices instead of the Fasboot /
Bootloader mode that is being used by HTC and Nexus devices. Entering Download mode using
Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the easiest tasks that an Android user has to complete, as you
simply press several buttons at the same time and power on the smartphone. Below you can find
different methods that you can use to boot into Download Mode on stock and rooted devices.

Download Mode for Samsung devices allows you to install new OTA Updates by pushing them
from your computer directly to your phone using only a data cable.
Also, for your computer to work with the Download Mode you will need to have the ODIN
software present. Below you can find the download links for Odin 1.85, Odin 3.04 and Odin 3.07
programs. All these programs are working with various Samsung devices and you will find the
correct variants in tutorial guides. Odin download links are listed at the end of this post after the
tutorials on how to boot into Download Mode with Samsung phones.

Usually, the Stock and Rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 phones can be booted in Download Mode the
same way. However, in both cases, you are forced to power off the device completely and then
use a button combination to load the required files. This can be easily changed if your phone is
rooted.

Now, if your phone is running on stock and official Android firmware, then you can easily boot
into Download Mode like this:

Power off the phone completely by removing its battery for 5 seconds.
Re-insert the battery back into its place.
Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time.
Release the buttons only when the Warning!! message appears.
Next, press Volume Up button to confirm that you wish to enter Download Mode.
Your device will now show a green Android with the Downloading Do not turn off target
text listed under it.
Thats it, now you can connect your device with your PC after you launch ODIN.

Since youve now booted into Download Mode you can easily start transferring files or flash
new Android operating system files. Note that the instructions above will work with both rooted
and stock Samsung Galaxy S4 phones.

that are running on various custom ROMs can be booted into Download Mode right from their
home screens. Select reboot and then Download option for that to work. If your device doesnt
show that menu, then you can use the info below and learn how to add it.

If your phone is , you can choose to use an alternative method to boot into Android Download
Mode with your Samsung device. You will be able to load all the required files directly from
your phones home screen using the Power button and then tapping several times the phones
display.

You have to download and install several modding files on your device using the custom
Recovery mode. So, use the instructions below only if youre rooting and running a custom
Recovery on it. Heres what you need to do.

Download the file corresponding to your version of Galaxy S4 using the links below:
> I9505 International variant .
> Sprint .
> T-Mobile .
> AT&T .
> all the file you need regarding the download links can be found in those XDA threads.
Copy the files onto your phones internal SDcard.
Boot your device into Recovery mode by pressing Volume Up, Home and Power all at the
same time. Obviously, before doing this the phone has to be switched off.
Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache from Advanced settings menu.
Create a NANDROID backup using backup and restore section.
Select install zip from sdcard, then choose zip from sdcard.
Find the file you moved before entering Recovery and install it.
Reboot system.

The device will now restart and the changes shouldve been applied successfully. To boot into
Download mode, you will simply need to press Power button until Device Options screen
appears. Select reboot and then tap Download option and press OK. You Galaxy S4 will now
restart into Android Download Mode.

These were all the step that you had to take in order to learn how to load the Download Mode
files. Remember to download ODIN program and then you will be able to flash new custom files
using Download Mode.

Download Odin:

Odin 1.85 from .

Odin 3.04 from .
Odin 3.07 from .

Extract the contents of all zip files and save them into a single folder on your computer. Launch
ODIN exe on your PC, then boot the phone into Download Mode and connect the device to PC
using the USB data cable.

For any other questions, use the comments section below. These instructions should be easy
enough for anyone to understand them.

NOTE: we cannot be held responsible in case your phone gets bricked or you lose data while
using the instructions listed in this post.

Download mode on the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 smartphone represents a hidden mode that you
boot the device into for several reasons. The most common reason to boot into download mode
on Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 smartphones is for updates and flashing files. As I said before, these
files are usually firmware files that you might like to load through Odin and flash them on your
device. People opt to flash firmware mainly for updating the OS, downgrading the OS or
unrooting the device. Others reasons people may need to enter download mode on Samsung
Galaxy Ace 4 devices is to get root access or install a custom recovery. Each task Ive mentioned
before all use the Odin flashing tool and connect to a computer. The only thing is none of those
tasks will work for your device unless you first boot the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 into download
mode.

BEFORE WE BEGIN
Backing up the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 smartphone before starting the steps is important just
in case you decide to perform an action that wipes data once you are in the download mode. You
can download many apps from the Google Play Store to help with your backing up, or you can
use the backup options built-in to your device. Whatever you decide, just make sure that you
make copies of the pictures, music, video, phone contacts and any other data that is sensitive on
your device.
Make sure that you have the USB Debugging Mode enabled or else you cannot connect to the
computer regardless whether your device is in the download mode or not. Some of you guys and
girls might find that the USB Debugging feature is on already and some of you might not. There
is only one way to find that out if you dont already know: head to the Menu > Settings >
Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
Occasionally people dont see any Developer Options menu from the settings and get stuck
what to do next. For all you people, just head over to the Menu > Settings > About Device and
tap where it says the build number. After about 7 or 8 taps, it will tell you that the Developer
Options is not unlocked. Youll see it from the Settings once its unlocked.
Turn off the smartphone completely.
Reboot it by holding the Power + Volume Down + Home keys.
Keep pressing the said keys until you get to a new screen.
Release the three keys and press the Volume Up key by itself.
Now you have entered download mode on Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 smartphones. You can go
back to the other guide you were using before coming here if you came here from another page.

If you've , and , you're probably having the time of your life -- but there are reasons you might
want your old phone back. Perhaps you want to sell it, or maybe it's bricked and won't boot up
anymore.

Don't panic, : all may not be lost. The accidental bricking of phones during ROM testing is an
occupational hazard of those of us who decide to go off the beaten track of Android's OS.

As long as you can boot up into download mode, there's still hope yet. Here's how to return the
ROM back to the official stock Samsung firmware, so you can try again. (Or swear off the black
arts of rooting for life, should you prefer. No judgement here!)
For the purposes of this tutorial, you must be using the GT-I8160 version of the handset, which
is the version of the sold in the UK.

If you've got into this mess via rooting, you should aready have Odin on your computer, but if
not , along with the . You'll also be needing our stock ROM, which you can . This is the UK
firmware, so only get this if you have a UK Ace 2.

If you have a different version, find out the model number from the box, or Settings > About
phone, if you can turn it on. You should be able to find the stock ROM for your version by
Googling it, but you're on your own there.

It's safest to have a fully charged phone for this. Even if it's bricked and you can't see how much
battery it has, pop it on to charge for a while if possible. When you're confident it's full of juice,
turn on your phone into download mode. You do this by holding down Power, Menu and
Volume Down for a few moments.
If it works, you'll be presented with a message warning you about custom ROMs. But you've
been around the block a few times, right? This is no big deal. Press Volume Up, and it will say
'Downloading...' with a picture of a friendly green Android on screen. Put your phone to one side
for a moment.
Now install those Samsung USB drivers, if you haven't already, unzip the firmware file to
somewhere easy to find and open up Odin. Make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are
ticked, and nothing else is. Then press the PDA button and open up the file you unzipped a
moment ago -- the memorably named 'I8160XXLK7_I8160-
BTULK7_I8160XXLK7_HOME.tar'.
Connect your Ace 2 to your computer via the USB cable, and an enthusiastic message should
pop up in the bottom left corner saying 'Added!!' This means you're ready to flash the new-old
ROM back on and recover your mid-range paperweight to its former glory.

Press the 'Start' button in Odin, and hold your breath, while the computer does its magic. When it
reaches the end of the timer, the phone should reboot back into a working OS again and you can
do a celebratory victory dance.
If you want to get back on the custom ROM wagon after this, bear in mind that you'll need to re-
root your device, as going back to the stock undoes all your hard work. Need a refresher course?

Samsung Galaxy S3 was quickly adopted by the users because of its great features and
performance. Even though many people never experienced any issues with this device, others did
complain about some bugs and glitches. Some owners of the device reported a problem saying
that Samsung Galaxy S3 is stuck on download mode and whatever they do, they cannot connect
to Odin3. One user said that his was working fine, but suddenly the After the phone turned on, a
black screen appeared with the android symbol that said downloading, do not turn off. This
means, your Samsung Galaxy S3 is Soft Bricked.

Some of the occurrences of Galaxy S3 Soft bricks are:

Your phone is stuck at the logo.

Your phone keeps restarting repeatedly by itself.
Your Samsung Galaxy can also be soft bricked by a corrupted firmware.
You tried to flash a custom ROM which went wrong.

When you are able to enter the Download mode then you have a device which is powering on at
least halfway. This means your device is soft bricked and it can be repaired.

If you are not able to enter download mode or or if your phone cannot boot up at all, it means
your Samsung Galaxy is hard bricked, and chances of repairing it by yourself are very low.

Solution For Samsung Galaxy S3 Is Stuck On Download Mode Screen

Normally, Samsung Galaxy S3 is stuck on the download mode screen occurs because of a bad
update, corrupted firmware or a custom ROM flashing gone wrong. To exit from this download
mode, just pull the battery out from your phone, wait for few seconds and insert it back. After
inserting the battery and turning on the phone, connect it to your PC and once it is booted fully,
check whether you have the right driver installed on your computer. If the phone connects and
comes up as a storage device, then your phone has been fixed and your problem is solved.

However, if the phone does not do anything, then you must download Kies. contains the drivers
that are required for the phone to communicate with the PC.

Sometimes upgrading your Samsung Galaxy S3 to the latest firmware can solve the problem.
Therefore, read this post:

If you are planning to a flash stock ROM, do a little research on

Here are few steps that you need to do to get 4.2.2 on your Samsung Galaxy S3.

Steps to be followed:
First, make sure your Samsung galaxy S3 is charged to at least 60%. This method is applicable
for the Galaxy GT-I9305.
Next, . There are several ways to create a backup of your phone. Follow the below steps to
create a backup.
One of the best options is to make use of Samsungs very own Kies software that we normally
use to update the software of our Galaxy devices.
The second way to create a backup of the device is with your Google account. Head towards
Settings > General > Backup & Reset and it will provide two options named as backup my data
and automatic restores. Ensure that these options are checked by taping the checkbox next to
them and it will backup details like Wi-Fi password, app data, Google settings and bookmarks
automatically to the so that they can be retrieved again in case anything wrong happens with the
device.

Another way to create the backup is using Samsung account. For that go to Application >
Settings> User and backup> Account and check if you are signed in with your Samsung account.
If the option is made on, it will sync the contacts, calendar and internet settings to the Samsung
account.

3. Once you are done with the backup, (OPTIONAL)

4. Next

5. Download

6. Extract the Firmware Zip File

7. Open Odin.exe

8. Now you are required to take your phone into Download mode. Disconnect your phone from
the computer. Press and hold Volume Down + Power + Home button altogether.

9. Press volume up button the continue

10. Connect your Galaxy S3 to the computer, on Odin, you will see an added message.

11. Click on the (AP, OR, PDA for the later version) button and click browse for the Firmware
file you just downloaded (Very Important Make sure Re-Partition box is not checked).

howtorootmobile.com

12. Finally, your Phone will be flashed, with a Status Pass at the top left. But in case you see fail,
then disconnect your phone, pull out the battery and repeat this step again.

Once you complete flashing the stock ROM, your phone will restart automatically and you will
be on the home screen again. Flashing a ROM will delete all data from your device so you will
have to restore all the data stored on your device once you have established that your is working
as expected.

Booting into the download mode and recovery mode are the two words that you must have heard
but some of you may not be much familiar how to actually get into these modes on the Samsung
Galaxy Devices, whether the Galaxy smartphones or the Galaxy Tabs. While some of you may
not even know what are these modes and why do we need to boot into these modes, let me
explain you guys a little first.

Download Mode: Download Mode is also known as Odin3 mode, the mode allows you to flash
stock firmwares, bootloader, modem, pit files, sometimes the root package files or custom
recovery files using your PC. To do so, a light tool is used named as Odin3, thats why the mode
is also known as Odin3 mode. To use the download mode or flash files using your PC, you
simply need to boot into download mode, connect your device to your PC and flash your desired
file using Odin3. Full guide about Odin can be found here.

Recovery Mode: Recovery mode is of much help when it comes to flashing zip files directly on
your phone, but thats most of the times possible only by having a custom recovery installed on
your phone. Using the recovery mode you can clear your phones cache, wipe factory data, wipe
dalvik cache. In case you have a custom recovery installed on your phone, it lets you make a
nandroid backup, lets you flash zip files like mods, custom roms etc, custom recoveries also
allow you to restore your system if you have backed it up.

Sometimes, what happens is, you are struck in the bootloop, or your phone doesnt respond. In
the case you can either access the download mode or the recovery mode. Wiping cache and
dalvik cache may let you get rid of the problems, but just in case non of these works, booting
into download mode and flashing a stock firmware will definitely help you.

Ok, I hope that you guys probably know about the download and recovery mode. Lets learn now
how to boot into these modes.

How to boot into Download mode:

On most of the Galaxy Devices, following method will work:

Connect your device to your PC and allow debugging when it prompts on your phone.
Open the Fastboot folder that you created using our ADB & Fastboot drivers guide.

empty area within the Fasboot folder.

For some devices, turn off completely, now turn on your device by pressing and holding
Volume Up + Power Key.
As soon as you see the Galaxy logo, leave the keys and wait for it to show you the recovery
mode.
Thats it! Youre in recovery now, you can flash zips, create backups or wipe your phone now.
For Galaxy Tab devices the above method will just work fine as well.

For the devices like At&t Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S Duos and other similar phones the

pressed for a while.
Now turn on your device by pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Key.
As soon as you see the Galaxy logo, leave the keys and wait for it to show you the recovery
mode.
Thats it! Youre in recovery now, you can flash zips, create backups or wipe your phone now.

Universal Recovery Mode Method for All Samsung Galaxy Devices:

This should work if none of the above method works, but involves a little hardwork. You will
have to install Android Adb & Fastboot drivers.
Now open settings on your phone and in developer options enable USB debugging mode.
Connect your device to your PC and allow debugging when it prompts on your phone.
Open the Fastboot folder that you created using our ADB & Fastboot drivers guide.
Open the Fastboot folder and then hold the shift key on your keyboard and right click on any
empty area within the Fasboot folder.
Click on Open Command Window / Prompt Here.
Type the following command: adb reboot recovery
As soon as you hit the Enter Key, your phone should boot into the download mode.

In case the key combination doesnt work for you guys, the universal methods will work for sure.
