Graphics 9 Course Plan

Overview:
This course will teach students the basic use of graphics software through several challenges. In the
challenges students will take on the role of a graphic/photography company hired to complete different
projects. The focus will be on understanding the Essential Questions presented with each challenge.
For each challenge students will complete the CTF Design Template for each project. This template has
three components:
Design: To be completed before you start your project.
Create: To be completed as you complete your project.
Appraise: To be completed after your project is complete.

Rationale:
Digital Photography and Photo Editing Software had revolutionized the Photo Industry. You can no
longer believe everything you see in magazines. This class will explore some of the tools that are used to
manipulate and enhance photographs. Students need to be aware of digital manipulation and the
impact it can have on them. This class will help them avoid the traps that photo editing creates.

Materials:
Computer Stations (1 per student)
Adobe Fireworks
Adobe Photoshop Elements
Digital Cameras
