practice, I have included adapted versions of each fairy tale so
that your students can practice underlining important information
and finding answers in a passage. Finally, students will compare
different versions of the same fairy tale. For these activities, you
will need the books : The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon
Scieszka and Lane Smith. This is also available to watch on
YouTube. The other comparison in this unit is with Cinderella.
There are a lot of different versions of this story available. There
is a craft included with each Fairy Tale as well. There is a writing
activity included as well. Students write their own fairy tale!

Cinderella
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Cinderella. She lived
with her stepmother and two stepsisters. They were very mean to
Cinderella. They made her cook and clean all day. Cinderella was
sad.
One day, a royal footman came and delivered an invitation to
the ball. The stepsisters were so excited! They made Cinderella
get their dresses ready and fix their hair for the ball. Cinderella
wanted to go too but the mean stepsisters kept her so busy that
Cinderella did not have time to get ready. Finally the stepsisters
left for the ball. Cinderella ran out into the garden and began to
cry.
Why are you crying?, Cinderella heard a sweet voice say. She
looked up to see her Fairy Godmother! I want to go to the ball,
said Cinderella. Well then you shall go, said the Fairy Godmother.
With a wave of her wand, the Fairy Godmother turned Cinderellas
rags into a beautiful gown. A shiny carriage appeared to take
Cinderella to the ball. Off you go my child, said the Fairy
Godmother. Remember, you must be home by midnight!
When Cinderella arrived at the ball, all of the other guests
could not believe how beautiful she was. The prince went to her
immediately and asked her to dance. They had a wonderful time!
All of a sudden, Cinderella heard the clock begin to strike! She
must hurry home! The prince ran after her. All he found was one
glass slipper. Once she got home, Cinderellas dress turned back
into rags. What a wonderful night it had been.
The next morning, there was a knock at the door. The prince
was looking for the girl who fit the glass slipper. Cinderellas
stepsisters tried the slipper but it did not fit. Finally, Cinderella
tried on the slipper. It fit perfectly! Cinderella was the one!
Cinderella and the prince fell in love and were married and the
lived happily ever after!
