1 Basic Description

1.1 General Introduction

ZXG10 SDR data quick configuration tool (SdrConfToolV2.1) is the independently
running software based on JAVE platform.

It provides the new data configuration mode which is completely different from the
conventional GUI site data configuration mode. It adopts the general typical
configuration. Fill the configuration data in the Excel template provided by the tool to
realize the batch operation of data configuration, which guarantees the accuracy and
standardization of data.

It is able to quick create XML files in batch by Excel template files (to adapt to SDR
all-table configuration data format), which facilitate batch importing OMM by using
NM batch offline reverse to improve the efficiency of onsite deployment.

It provides the function of batch modification for site data, which realizes the
conversion of SDR all-table data exporting by OMM in batch from the XML format to
Excel file. Then, perform the addition, modification and deletion operations on this
Excel file to create a new Excel file which can import OMM by using NM batch offline
reverse.

1.2 Application Scenarios

ZXG10 SDR data quick configuration tool (SdrConfToolV2.1) is applicable to the
deployment, existing network maintenance.

Precondition: this version is applicable to all sites except Hong Kong CSL project
(whose version is SdrConfToolV1.6).

1.4 Installation and Configuration

1.4.1 Installation

ZXG10 SDR data quick configuration tool (SdrConfToolV2.1) adopts the greeninstall
mode, i.e. copy the installation file packet to any directory.

Description of root directory:

SdrConfTool.jar major file

run.bat run batch file (this PC has been installed with jdk or jre)

run_with_OMCB.bat run batch file (use jdk1.4 in OMCB NM software)

Description of subdirectory:

conf configuration file directory

log

1.4.2 Configuration

ZXG10 SDR data quick configuration tool (SdrConfToolV2.1) is base on JAVA

platform, which can be used after installing with JRE.

If JRE is not installed, jdk1.4 in OMCB NM software can also be used. It is necessary
to edit and modify run_with_OMCB.bat upon the installation of NM client.

For example:

1. If the NM installation directory is D:\iomcrV6.xx.xxx

The second line of run_with_OMCB.bat is:

set OMCB_DIR=%OMCB_DIR%

2. The third line defines the upper-level directory of the built-in JDK (for Windows) of
OMC NM software:

set OMCB_JDK_HIGHER_DIR=%OMCB_DIR%\WOMC

For GSM NM software, the third line should be:

set OMCB_JDK_HIGHER_DIR=%OMCB_DIR%

as shown in the following figure:

MHz. If the transmitting frequency is set as M, it should be consistent with the Central
Frequency Point of RRU; if the transmitting frequency is set as L or H, the difference
between it and Central Frequency Point should be one of the 4.6 /4.8 /5 MHz.

The radius of cell should be 2.5 km, 5 km, 10km or 40 km.

One baseband resource pool is composed of one or more BPC baseband board(s),
which can be configured in Equipment sheet. Baseband resource pool is also known
as local cell group (LCG), one LCG may be composed of one or more local cells.

The requirements for the performance of baseband resource pool (for 100b3 and earlier
versions) include:

1. When there are more than 3 local cells within one baseband resource pool, if the
radius of one local cell is larger than 2.5 km, no more than 4 local cells can be
created.

2. If one baseband resource pool is configured within OTSR cell, it supports at

most 2 cells and the radius of each cell should be 2.5 km.

3. If there is only one baseband resource pool and one OTSR cell, the radius can be
2.5km, 5km or10km.

4. One baseband resource pool supports at most 6 STSR cells.

5. The RF cables for receiving and transmitting within one baseband resource pool
should be not more than 12.

For the versions after 100c, the above requirements 1 and 2 have the following
changes:

1) If there are no more than 3 STSR cells within one baseband resource cell, the
radius of each cell should be not longer than 40 km; otherwise if there are more
than 3 STSR cells, and there is only one BPC baseband board, the radius should
be 2.5 km; if there are more than 2 BPC boards, the radius should be not longer
than 40 km.

2) If OTSR (M-RRU) cell is configured within a baseband resource pool, at most 2

cells are supported, among which there should be not more than 2 OTSR cells. If
there is one baseband board, the radius of each cell should be 2.5km; if there are
more than 2 baseband boards, the OTSR cell radius can be 2.5 km, 5 km or10
km, and the STSR cell radius can be 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km or 40km.

18
Chapter 3 Operation Steps

If there is more than 1 RRU/RSU in a cell, it is called an OTSR (M-RRU) cell;

otherwise it is a STSR cell. All the RF cables are configured as transmitting non-
diversity, and receiving diversity can be set independently.

The power of all RRU and RSU RF boards in an OTSR cell should be
consistent, but DTR (including DRSU) and RTR60 (including RSU60) cannot
be configured in one cell.

One RRU can only be associated with one cell. The central frequency of all
RRUs in one cell should be the same. See Table 4 for RF board power.

2.12 GSM Carrier

This page is required in GSM mode.

The data of each sector covers one line, thus there might be multiple lines of data for
each NE.

If OTSR cell is to be configured, the quantity of carriers should be not less than 2, and
the channel mode should be Multiple Channel Mode. If it is set as single channel, the
corresponding RRU multi-carrier Combination Group ID should be 0 (i.e. not divided
into groups), and there is only one carrier; if it is set as dual channels, there are 2
carriers. In dual or multiple channel modes, the Multi-Carrier Combination Group ID
should be set (i.e. divided into groups).

If the corresponding RRU is in the same multi-carrier combination group, they should
adopt the same parent frequency band, and the quantity of RRU should be consistent
with that of carriers.

3 Operation Steps

3.1 Function Overview

ZXG10 SDR data quick configuration tool (SdrConfToolV2.1) has the following
functions:

1. Quick commissioning and configuration for SDR site

2. IP address modification

3. OMCB cell division

3.2 Quick Configuration Method

SDR quick configuration, taking the site configuration data (XML file) as a bridge,
realizes the dual-conversion of quick configuration template (XLS file) and NM
configuration data by using NM data importing and exporting functions and SDR quick
configuration tool, to accomplish the data quick configuration, as shown in Figure
Quick Configuration Method-1.

23
Figure Quick Configuration Method-1 SDR Data Quick Configuration System

At the beginning of deployment, complete the data quickconf template and batch create
the configuration data (XML file) by using SDR quickconf tool. The onsite engineers
upload the data through LMT or import the data to NM by using the function of
reverse, so as to quickly complete data configuration.

At the maintenance stage, it is unnecessary for the onsite engineers to worry about the
inconsistency of quickconf template and NM data. The site configuration data (XML
file) can create by using the function of NE data batch export. After that, the data will
be conversed to the quickconf template by using the function of data conversion of
SDR quickconf tool to facilitate the onsite batch modification.

The followings will introduce several conversion methods.

24
Chapter 3 Operation Steps

3.3 Data Conversion

3.3.1 Batch Creating Configuration Data (XLS to XML)

SDR quickconf tool is necessary for conversing XLS to XML. For the first time use, it
is necessary to install JRE, which is the same with EOMS. If EOMS is run, it indicates
JRE has been installed; otherwise, install BLMT_v4.00.200f\JRE\jre-6u10-windows-
i586-p.exe.

See Error: Reference source not found for how to fill in the quickconf template. See the
followings for how to create data.

STEP 1: run SdrQuickConf.jar, set the output directory and select the template file.

STEP 2: click [Generate XML File], the corresponding XLM files will create in the
appointed output directory, as shown in Figure Data Conversion-2.

Figure Data Conversion-2 Create Site Configuration Data

Caution:

If it fails to create data, the detailed error information will be given in Operation
Result. It is necessary to modify the quickconfig template.

3.3.2 Batch Offline Reverse Data (XML to M31)

Put the XML files in one folder. The NM data will create in batch by using the function
of offline reverse provided by NM.

STEP 1: click [SDR Configuration Management], select [Batch Offline Reverse]. It is

unnecessary to create OMCB NE. if the NE is already available, the new configuration
set will create.

25
ZXG10 SDR Data Quick Configuration Tool (SdrConfToolV2.1)

STEP 2: select the folder which XML files are in, fill the data tag, select the correct
subnet, click OK. The speed of creating NE and configuration set is 1.2 second per site.

Figure Data Conversion-3 Select File and Set Tag

STEP 3: Click [Management]-[Mutual Exclusion Management] to batch apply for

mutual exclusion right, switch to the active configuration set. After OMCB link is
created, perform operations on the data.

3.3.3 Batch Exporting Configuration Data (M31 to XML)

From OMM-BV4.00.200f version, it supports to batch export NE data into XML

format. The steps are as follows.

STEP 1: [SDR Configuration Management], select [Batch Offline Reverse].

STEP 2: select the NE to be exported and directory, click OK.

Caution:

The active configuration set of each NE cannot be the empty one with resource
management. It will make the exporting fail.

3.3.4 Batch Conversing Configuration Data (XML to XLS)

Converse the configuration files to XLS template files in batch by using the function of
data conversion of SDR quickconf tool.

26
Chapter 3 Operation Steps

STEP 1: run SdrQuickConf.jar, click <XMLXLS> and select the directory, click
<Next>, as shown in Figure Data Conversion-4.

Figure Data Conversion-4 Select XML File Directory

STEP 2: set the output directory and name of Excel file, click<Next>.

3.3.5 Local Synchronizing Configuration Data (XML to SDR)

STEP 1: start EMOS and logon to the site.

STEP 2: select [System]-[All-table configuration]-[Existing data], select .XML and

click OK. The configuration data is loaded to the site.

STEP 3: after restarting the site, check the running condition and start commissioning
or service testing.
