Plastic packaging has several advantages that are strong but lightweight, inert, not rusty and are

thermoplastic (heat seal) and can be colored. Identifying the physical properties of such plastics is
necessary to know the exact plastic characteristics used as packaging materials for certain types of
products. Identifying the plastic can be done by several tests, among others, the measurement of
density and grammatures, tensile strength test and elongation break, friction resistance test, and
fuel test.

Measurement of density values in plastics is very important, because density can show the plastic
structure in general. Applications of this matter that can be seen the ability of plastic in protecting
the product from some substances such as water, O2 and CO2. In trading it may be used gramatur
unit, because this unit is enough to represent the producer (plastic weight) and consumer (plastic
area), but density is what determines the plastic properties as packaging (Numinah 2002). Based on

Plastic fuel test is a form of test which can be used to identify the polymer type of a plastic by
burning the plastic on a flame. Flame propagation velocity of the packaging material depends on the
density of the constituent elements of the plastic. Based on observations, HDPE plastics have the
highest flame velocity flame so that it has low compiler density. Packaging medium speed or slow
speed has a good density so it is not easily broken or torn. The color of the fire generated during
combustion depends on the monomers of the plastics. The flame color of the practicum material is
orange and yellow. Smoke formation occurs on all different packaging smells, this is caused by the

Conclusion
Physical properties such as tensile strength, breaking stress, friction resistance, combustion
properties, resistance fall on each different type of plastic. That's because the monomers that make
up the plastic are not the same as each other. Good quality plastic is plastic that has high tensile
strength, elastic, and high friction resistance,
