Additionally the Control Drawing for IS-CHARMs and the IS-CHARMs Subsystem should be
observed.

Marking
Intended Use
The device is only approved for appropriate and intended use. Ignoring these
instructions will void any warranty and absolve the manufacturer from any liability.
The device must only be operated in the ambient temperature range and at the relative
humidity (non-condensing) specified.
All IS-CHARMs modules act as an interface between signals from the hazardous area
(Ex area) and the safe area (NON-Ex area).
The devices are used in C&I (control and instrumentation) technology for the galvanic
isolation of C&I signals such as 20 mA and 10 V standard signals or alternatively for
adapting or standardizing signals. Devices that incorporate intrinsically safe circuit are
used for operating intrinsically safe field devices in hazardous areas.
The IS CHARM Subsystem shall only be used with DeltaV IS-CHARMs listed in
certificates FM 11 ATEX 0030U and IECEx FMG 11.0014U.
The TC Terminal Base must only be used with the IS-CHARMS-TC and LS IS TC
CHARMS.
Mounting / Installation
Prior to mounting, installation, and commissioning of the device the installer should be
familiar with the device and carefully read the instruction manual.
The installation instructions specified by IEC/EN 60079-14 must be observed.
The EC type examination certificate, certificates and/or declarations of conformities
have to be observed - if applicable especially the special conditions of use.
If the device has already been operated in general electrical systems, it is not allowed
to install it in electrical systems used in combination with hazardous areas.
The device fulfils a degree of protection IP 20 according to IEC/EN 60529.
To ensure the IP degree of protection all seals of the device housing (ultrasonic
welding) must be undamaged and correctly fitted.
The device may only be installed and operated in Zone 2 if it has been mounted in an
enclosure with degree of protection IP 54 according to IEC/EN 60529. The enclosure
must have a declaration of conformity according to 94/9/EC for at least category 3G.
The Subsystem must be supplied with a SELV / PELV or class 2 power supply with a
maximum d.c. voltage of Um = 40VDC at the edge connectors. These edge connectors
serve as the interconnection between IS-CHARMs Subsystem and IS-CHARMs
Subsystem or IS-CHARMs Subsystem and Standard CHARMs Subsystem.
Both of the 24V power inputs must be protected by a fuse with a breaking capacity of
1500 Amps per IEC 60127 or UL248-1. The fuse holder and the fuse must meet the
requirements of IEC 60079-11.
Do not disconnect or connect fuses unless the power supply is de-energized or the
location is known to be non-hazardous. The fuse must be replaceable only by opening
the fuse holder. A label showing the fuse type and fuse characteristics must be
mounted adjacent to each of the fuses.
This can be achieved by fuse holder KL4510X1-GA1 (55P2109X012) and fuse
KL4510X1-FA1 (55P2108X012).
The Baseplate terminals can be used to connect a cable screen of the field wiring. The
screen bar itself must be connected to the equipotential bonding system of the
hazardous area.
When several Baseplates are connected together only one connection to the
equipotential bonding system of the hazardous area is required. This is also true for
mixed applications with IS-CHARMS Baseplates and Standard CHARMS Baseplates.
However when an extender cable is used a second connection to the equipotential
bonding system of the hazardous area is required to the Baseplates after the extender
cable. No additional circuits must be connected to the terminals of the Address Plug.
No additional field circuits must be connected to Standard CHARMs with 250V AC
(higher than Um=40V), when used in combination with the IS-CHARM Subsystem.
Provision shall be made externally to the equipment to provide transient protection at a
level not exceeding 140% of the peak rated voltage value of 85V.
The communication network must have a prospective fault current of < 100A.
Once installed the IS-CHARM and the Terminal Base pair assumes the entity
parameters of the IS-CHARM for that position. The field wiring must be disconnected
before changing to a different IS-CHARMs type.
Ex i
Circuits of type of protection "Ex i" (intrinsically safe) which have been operated with
circuits of other type of protections must not be used as "Ex i" circuits afterwards.
The respective peak values of the field device and the associated apparatus with
regard to explosion protection should be considered when connecting intrinsically safe
field devices with intrinsically safe circuits of associated apparatus (verification of
intrinsic safety). Make sure to observe IEC/EN 60079-14 and IEC/EN 60079-25.
All separation distances between non-intrinsically safe circuits and intrinsically circuits
need to be observed in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-14. This can be achieved with
the separation wall KL4510X1-CA1 (12P5807).
All separation distances between adjacent intrinsically safe circuits need to be
observed in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-14.
