- Switch off ignition.
- Pry upper section of grip shell - 1 -

upward out of mounts in door trim using
trim removal wedge 3409 .
- Depending on vehicle equipment,

disconnect wiring harnesses from upper
section of grip shell.
- Remove three screws - 2 - (1 Nm) in

area handle molding area.
- Remove the two bolts - 3 - (2 Nm).
- Disengage door trim from mounts in

lower area using disassembly pliers

- Disengage door trim from mounts on

the sides using disassembly pliers

- Pull door trim vertically upward out of

window shaft.
- Disconnect door trim wiring harness

from door control module.

- Remove two bolts - 1 - (6 Nm) and

screwdriver with hex socket head (3 mm)

- Remove trim on C-pillars, wagon 70-3, C-pillar trim

(wagon) removing and installing


All vehicles:


Roof trim . 9 19




- Remove D-pillar trim panels 70-3, D-pillar trim,


installed:
- Remove side cover caps from rearview mirror 68-1,

Interior rearview mirror with rain sensor, removing and
installing
- Push the wedge T10039/1 between

frame - 1 - and headliner - 2 - .
Roof trim . 10 19
- Using the release lever T10039/1 ,

separate the frame in - direction of
arrow - from the headliner, the whole
way around.
Vehicles with screen separator wall
- Operate locking mechanism - 1 - and

pull off cover - 2 - .
- Remove bolt - 3 - (2 Nm).
- Disengage panel - 4 - from bracket - 5

- in body.
- Remove remaining panels as

described.
All vehicles
- Remove headliner from door seal

moldings.
Roof trim . 11 19
- Lower the molded headliner - 6 - and

remove it from vehicle with a second
technician through rear lid.
Installing
Roof insulation/reinforcements (sedan), removing and

installing
Note:
An exemplary vehicle without sunroof is shown in

the following description. For vehicles with sunroof,
removing and installing roof insulation/reinforcement
is performed accordingly.

- Remove roof end strip, sedan 70-7, Roof end strip

- Remove molded headliner, sedan 70-7, Molded

headliner (sedan) removing and installing
- Cut roof insulation/reinforcements - 1 -

in direction of travel in strips approx. 6
cm wide - 2 - using a carpet knife.
- Pull off strips - 2 - from roof.
- Cut back adhesive residue - 3 - using

electric cutter V.A.G 1561 A and cutting
blade V.A.G 1561/20 - 4 - .
Note :
If paint structure was damaged while removing roof

insulation/reinforcements, paint damage must be
repaired in accordance with specifications in
Repair Manual Paint .

Installing
Note:
Processing instructions of adhesive must be

observed when installing roof
insulation/reinforcements.
- Apply adhesive D 190 MKD A3 on to

insulation/reinforcements using cartridge
gun V.A.G 1628 .
- Dimension - a - = 67 2 mm
- Dimension - b - =34 5 mm
- Dimension - c - = 23 5 mm
Roof trim . 15 19
- Transport roof insulation/reinforcements

into vehicle and press on to roof over the
entire surface.
Roof insulation/reinforcements (wagon), removing and

Note:
An exemplary sedan without sunroof is shown in the

following description. For wagons with/without
sunroof, removing and installing roof
insulation/reinforcements is performed accordingly.
