Veritas High Availability Agent Pack
Overview
This Agent Pack is the release vehicle for Veritas high availability agents by
Symantec. The Agent Pack includes the currently shipping agents for Veritas
Cluster Server (VCS) and Veritas Cluster Server One (VCS One). The Agent Pack
is released independently of the product release trains.
The agents are organized by platform into five directories: AIX, HP-UX, Linux,
Solaris, and Windows. In the directory for each platform, the agents for a
supported architecture or software distribution are further classified into three
categories:
■ Application agents on page 18
■ Database agents on page 20
■ Replication agents on page 20
In addition:
■ Agents that can be used with Veritas Cluster Server One are currently
grouped in a separate directory under each platform.
See “Veritas Cluster Server One agents” on page 22.
■ An Agent Builder tool for building custom agents is available in the
application agent directory for each UNIX platform.
Information about supported versions of VCS and VCS One, applications, and
operating systems is available at:
https://vos.symantec.com/agents
For additional information about VCS support, see “Agent support for minor
versions of VCS” on page 23.
For the latest updates or software issues for agents on this release, see the
following Technical Support TechNote:
http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/282004
Contact your Symantec sales representative for details about the agents on this
Agent Pack, additional agents under development, and agents available as part
of Storage Foundation products or through Symantec Consulting Services.

■ Support for active physical standby
The agent now has two new action entry points for supporting active
physical standby—activateStandby and deactivateStandby. The
activateStandby entry point converts the physical standby database
into active standby which results into the state changing from Mount
to Read Only with redo apply. The deactivateStandby entry point
converts the active standby database back into physical standby which
results into the state changing from Read Only to Mount.
■ Support for flashback
The agent now has a new attribute, Flashback, and two new action
entry points, flashbackRecover and getremoteSCN. It is used to recover
the old primary when coming up after a crash. It works if and only the
Flashback attribute is set to 1.
Application agents
ACC Library
■ Fixed the Proc:: RemoveIPCResourcesForUser sub-routine to handle shared
memory segments greater than or equal to 4 GB on the AIX platform.
[2033509]
■ Updated the LogInt::Message sub-routine to avoid using halog(1M) inside
Solaris zones during monitor and clean entry points. Logging for these
entry points will be done to Agent_A.log only, and messages will no longer
be logged to the engine_A.log which is in the global zone. The behavior for
other entry points remains unaffected. [2065029]
SAP NetWeaver
■ Removed validation of SAPMonHome during Online if SecondLevelMonitor
attribute is set to 0. [1993929]
WebLogic
■ Earlier, on VCS 5.1, while importing the WebLogic type by executing the
WebLogic9Types51.cmd script, the AEPTimeout value was set to 0 instead
of 1. This caused the agent to execute hatype command during every entry
point. This issue is now fixed. [2050066]
■ The WebLogic agent now correctly matches the IP address given in the
agent attributes. [2047384]
WebSphere MQ Windows
■ Fixed security issue related to agent installation on Windows 2008
platform. [1973511]
WebSphere MQ UNIX
■ Improved cleanup of stray WebSphere MQ processes before resource
startup. [2016301]
8 Veritas High Availability Agent Pack
Enhancements and fixed issues
WebSphere
■ Fixed issue that arose due to incorrect timeout value. The WebSphere agent
was not able to complete the required operations successfully in different
entry points due to incorrect timeout value. [2036294]
Replication agents
HP EVA CA agent
■ Fix to revert back the asynchronous mode of replication after failover.
[2037401]
SRDF
■ Earlier, role swap of devices in dynamic RDF groups during failover was not
happening after changing device group name. This issue is now fixed. The
logic of checking dynamic swap capability (swap file creation logic) is
moved from Open entry point to Online entry point. This change also fixes
the problem in AIX DLPARs, where role swap in dynamic RDF groups did
not happen when there were remote SYMAPI connectivity issues initially
and which were corrected thereafter. [2000678]
■ Earlier, role swap of devices in dynamic RDF groups during failover was not
happening when devices were in "Partitioned" state. This issue is now fixed
[2027962]
■ Earlier, role swap of devices in dynamic RDF groups during failover was not
happening when device names in the RDF groups were changed from
default. This issue is now fixed. [2027966]

Known issues
Known issues
This section describes some of the known issues that are part of this quarter's
Agent Pack. For a detailed list of known issues for each agent, see the
Installation and Configuration guide for the respective agent.
Application agents
Tibco EMS
Problem
The agent is unable to online the 64-bit version of TIBCO Enterprise Message
Service (EMS).
Description
The VCS TibcoEMS agent uses the tibemsd binary to start TIBCO EMS. The
tibemsd binary is not available on the 64-bit version of TIBCO EMS. Hence, the
agent is unable to online the 64-bit version of TIBCO Enterprise Message Service
(EMS)
Workaround
Create a symlink between tibemsd and tibemsd64 by running the following
command in the directory where the tibemsd64 executable is located.
◆ # ln -s tibemsd64 tibemsd
Tuxedo
Problem
Issue with shared UNIX login on PeopleSoft 8.41, 8.42, 8.43 (Tuxedo 6.5) for
Tuxedo agent
Description
In case multiple Tuxedo instances share the same administrative UNIX login,
the Tuxedo agent relies on the Tuxedo utility TuxDir/tmipcrm to identify IPC
resources pertaining to a particular Tuxedo instance. This Tuxedo utility is not
shipped along with Tuxedo 6.5.
Workaround
Create a dummy executable 0-byte file at the TuxDir location.
To create the dummy executable file, as the Tuxedo user, run the following
commands:
1 $ touch TuxDir/tmipcrm
10 Veritas High Availability Agent Pack
Known issues
2 $ chmod +x TuxDir/tmipcrm
Note: This activity is not needed if dedicated UNIX logins are used.
Windows agents
Workaround
You must enable the Help manually. For instructions, contact Symantec
Technical support.
Directory structure
The Agent Pack is organized by platform, and platform directories are further
subdivided by software distribution (or architecture) and VCS or VCS One, and
then by version. For example, the agent for WebLogic that is appropriate for use
with VCS 4.1 on Solaris is located in the directory: solaris/sol_sparc/vcs/
application/weblogic_agent/4.1/5.1.7.0_agent
Note: For VCS 3.5 on the HP-UX platform and VCS 4.0 on the Linux and Solaris
platforms, use the agents located in the following directory on the Agent Pack:
platform/dist_arch/vcs/application/agent/4.1
For VCS 5.1 on AIX, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris platforms, use the agents located
in the following directory on the Agent Pack:
platform/dist_arch/vcs/application/agent/5.0
The following table summarizes by category, the VCS agents and VCS One
agents that are included in the Agent Pack. The agents in the categories
Veritas High Availability Agent Pack 15
Directory structure
application, database, and replication are the VCS agents, while the agents in the
category vcsone are the VCS One agents.
Application agents
The agents support all intermediate minor versions of the respective application
Note: † There is no separate agent available for Siebel CRM on the Windows
platform, however, support for Siebel CRM is provided through a generic service
on Windows. For additional information, see the following Technical Support
