Workshop title: FRIT 7739 The Beginner's Guide to Symbaloo Webmixes

Workshop description: The purpose of this workshop is to teach teachers how to use Symbaloo.

Workshop duration: The workshop will last for 30 minutes.

Workshop objectives: The participant will be able to:

1. Create a free Symbaloo account
2. Create a webmix
3. Create a web tile
4. Update the webmix
5. Share the webmix
6. Save the Symbaloo link to the computers desktop or pin it to the desktop dock for easy future
access

ISTE Standard: 4. Professional Development and Program Evaluation

Technology coaches conduct needs assessments, develop technology-related professional
learning programs, and evaluate the impact on instructional practice and student learning.

Workshop activities/assignments:
Pre-test: Participants will complete the Symbaloo assessment.
Tutorial video: Participants will view a video demonstrating the Symbaloo webmix creation
process.
Mid-workshop assessment: Participants will complete an assessment over the different steps of
the Symbaloo webmix creation process. The assessment will include a segmented tutorial video,
and it will provide instant feedback.
Discussion board: Participants will post in response to a discussion topic.
Post-test: Participants will complete the Symbaloo assessment.

Instructor and participant interaction expectations: Participants are expected to participate in

discussions and to use appropriate netiquette. The appropriate discussion board netiquette is illustrated
here. Participants are expected to complete all assignments within the given timeframes. The Participants
will direct all workshop-related questions to the instructor.
 Syllabus

Learner guidance and relevant resources: The instructor will provide an instructional video or
screencast modeling the navigation and use of the key features of the learning management system.

Policies concerning academic honesty: The participant is expected to answer all questions on his/her
own without any guidance from peers or others. Failure to do so may result in not receiving credit for the
professional development workshop.
