SITE ANALYSIS Chapter 5

Due to the huge nature of an international airport, a very

large expanse of land is required for its design and development.

These are the investigations done by the researcher that ensure

efficiency of the site with respect to the proposed development.

Bacolod is one of the barangays of Ozamiz City which is

situated on the eastward side of the city. It is facing

agricultural crops in the city and is known of producing rice.

Barangay Bacolod has a total area of 166.1651 hectares for which

sixty five (65) hectares are rice areas.

The location of the proposed Ozamiz International Airport

is at Barangay Bacolod, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. It is

approximately a 6-kilometer ride from the city center and around

8-minute ride from the Ozamiz Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal.

The site is accessible by 4-wheeled vehicles, motorcycles and

tricycles via Ozamiz Airport Access Road.

5.2 SITE ORIENTATION

The sun rises at the east and sets on the west side. The

wind crosses northeast (amihan) and southwest (habagat) as shown

below.

5.4 SITE POTENTIALS

Ozamiz City is considered to be an economic hub in Misamis

Occidental and is a gateway to all travelers going to and from

various regions and municipalities of the Philippines, thus

making the site suitable for the proposed International Airport.

With this development, the socio-economic state of the

city will be improved since the proposed international airport

will cater different tourists from all over the globe.
