SIMPLE PENDULUM

Aim: Using simple pendulum plot L-T and L-T2 graph

Finding effective length of a seconds pendulum and verfication of value of g

Apparatus required: A clamp stand, bob, Vernier Callipers, thread, stop watch

Theory: T=2 (L/g)sec g=42(L/T2) cm/sec2

Procedure:

Observations:

SNo Length from the top of the Effective Time for 20 osc (sec) Time period T2 L/T2
bob to length T1 T2 T= T =T/20 Sec Cm/sec2
2

To the point of suspension L = L + r cm (T1+T2)/2 (sec)

L cm

T T2

L L

Slope of the graph: L/T2 g=42(L/T2) cm/sec2

Result: Effective length of seconds pendulum from graph is found to be: cm

Value of g is found to be= cm/sec2

Percentage error in effective length is= (experimental value-standard value)x100/Standard value

= %
