Title IX The Case of Casey

Casey, a female presenting student that you supervise, comes to you to request time
off so she can work on homework. She informs you that she has fallen behind in one
of her courses as a result of an experience on campus that has made her afraid to
attend her night classes. Because youve built a relationship grounded in trust, she
opens up to you about the experience telling you she was sexually harassed and
groped two weeks ago while she was walking home from her class that adjourns at
9:00 PM. You are the first person she has told about this incident. Casey shares this
is not the first time she has heard of experiences like this occurring on campus, but
has not filed a report because she fears the institution will not take her seriously as
she is also a member of the LGBTQ community.
