PHOTOVORE:

Description:

Photovore has been adopted by the famous Australian mega solar


race where many people around the world come to show the power of
their car in the hot desert of Australia. We have prepared a miniature
track which gives the same conditions and makes you to enjoy extreme
solar machines which can hover and cross the destination using only
solar energy. Come and place you solar car and be a part of solar envoy
here and take away the title of future car.

ARENA SPECIFICATION:

• Arena is a track as shown in the above figure.


• Arena’s play area is of 150cm of length from start to stop line and
60cm wide.
• Two bulbs are placed on the arena which are of 150 watt and
placed 40cm above the arena.
• There is an opaque obstacle placed at 80cm from the starting line
and is of 25cm wide and it is 30cm high from the track.
Robot Specifications:

• Dimensions: 30cm X 30cm


• Height : Not more than 25cm
• Weight: No restriction
• Controller: wired/ autonomous
• Solar cell: Solar wafer area on the panel should not be more than
150sq.cm.

Note: Batteries usage in any form is not allowed. However usage of


capacitors is allowed. If any other form of circuitry is used please
intimate the managers beforehand and take their approval.

Game play:

• There are no knock out rounds in the photovore.


• Robot has to harness energy from the light only any other form
of energy such as compressors and springs are not allowed.
• Three chances will be given for the participant to show their
robot’s performance.
• Before three chances there will be 2 trail rounds to test and
make minor adjustments in the apparatus of the robot.
• Time taken by the robot to travel from the start line to stop line
is taken into consideration to declare the winner.
• Best of three chances will be considered.
• Points = 10000 – [ t(in sec) * 100]
• For autonomous robots rebate of 2sec will be given.
• No negative points will be there if the robot touches the walls of
the arena.
• Boundary walls are given for the arena. (not shown in the figure)
• Wired controllers can only be used to direct the robot but not to
power the robot.
• Every wired controlled robot’s remote has to be opened to
maintain the transparency.
• The robot which obtains the maximum amount of points will be
declared the winner.

General Rules

1. The teams must adhere to the spirit of healthy competition. The


teams must not damage the opponent's machine in any way.
Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team indulging in
misbehavior.
2. Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be
disqualified from the competition automatically.
3. The machine would be checked for its safety before the race and
would be discarded if found unsafe for other teams and
spectators.
4. Decision of the judges shall be treated as final and binding on all.

Eligibility

All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational


institutes are eligible to participate in the event.

Team Specification

A team must consist of 4 or less participants. Students from different


educational institutes can form a team.

Certificate Policy

• Participation certificates will be given to every participant.


• Merit certificates will be given only to the top 3 position holders.
