Power Tools
Outline Hazard Controls:
- Types of tools A. The Tools:
- Hazards - Registration system.
- Hazard Controls - Only use the tools for their designed purpose.
- Safety guards/covers.
- Inspection - Regular inspection and proper maintenance by a competent electrician/technician.
- Safe conditions (e.g. no broken, cracked, etc)
- The tools shall be double insulated or grounded.
- Have a safety plug.
- Safety Tag: dont use for unsafe tools
- Safe condition for the electrical cable/wire: plugs or connectors are sound and properly wired up.
- Use the correct disc type for the tools, grinding tools, or cutting tools.
- Safety clearness (saw/ sharp)

B. The Users:
- Safety awareness (training).
Hazards: -

Appropriate PPE: e.g. goggles, ear plugs, and gloves, shields.
Skilled users.
- Electrical shock - Dont be carried, transported, raised, or lowered by the cable.
- Eye injury from flying particles - Loose or frayed clothing, loose long hair, dangling jewelry, rings, or chains shall not be worn whilst
(mists, and vapors) operating any power tool.
- Inhalation of dust - Know power supply 110V/ 220V (the makers label).
- Fire - Never connect a portable electric tool to a lighting socket.
- Trip protection from extension cable and support it for passing heavy equipment.
- Cuts (disc grinder), abrasions, and
- Be sure that the power cable is long enough without it being strained or stretched.
puncture injuries - Dont use the damaged tools.
- Manual handling injuries, strains, - Keep the equipment clean and dry, dont stand on a damp or wet surface
etc - Inspect each tool before use.
- Noise - Use safe handling techniques.
