Research Topic: Leading Employees to Lead Themselves

Research Outline:

I. Variables
a. Leading Employees (Leadership styles of a Manager)
b. Themselves (Employees)

II. Definition of Variables

a. Leading Employees

This term refers in the study as the different leadership styles that
a manager or someone heading a team or an organization uses in
order to inspire, motivate, and lead the employees into action so
that they can work as a team and eventually, be considered for a
higher position in the company. Moreover, this also refers to the
management styles of an organization.

b. Themselves

This refers to the employees themselves who are trained not only
to perform specific job assignments but at the same time, prepare
them for the challenges of a supervisory position and eventually
to higher position in the company.

III. Theoretical Framework

The study is anchored on Douglas McGregor’s Theory of Y which is

based on the assumption that employees are generally responsible,
want to have meaningful work, and are capable of self-direction;
hence, a managerial approach based on conciliatory, consultative,
participative approach. This theory makes a leader see that all
employees have the potentials and competencies needed to excel in
the job and be given managerial type of functions.

Moreover, the study will also use A.O. Malmberg’s principle of “Build
better men and better men will build a better business.”
