Describe how you would incorporate an Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your
classroom (Minimum 2 paragraph overview):
I will teach the students about World War 2 and how it helped shape the U.S and the World. Then I will tell
the students about a contest that the WWII museum does every year. I will have all the students write a
rough draft of a persuasive essay. The students will then come to class and read their essay to the class. As a
class we will work together to create a class essay.
The project will be tying all the students essays together. This may make the students feel like they can
create their own project. The class will then submit their work to the museum. This will help the students
understand the lesson and what persuasive essays are.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom?
A computer with internet access, any type of technology that helps the students writing
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be
addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level).
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their
school: There may be some collaboration with peers after school but the majority of the work will be
done in the classroom.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (creating original data and or producing original
products as a result of engaging in a project): This project will be producing original work by the
students. They may be able to see their name and work on the website.
c. Higher-order thinking: The students will be asked to create their own essay and it will be about World
War II but all the thoughts should be factual but also have the students own ideas/thoughts.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: Some of the
work may be published on the website.
