Smart phone user guides are very difficult to read and to understand. The print is very small and
has a lot of words. It is easier to just mess with the phone until we figured it out than to try
reading every word in the user guide. It was also very stressful on the eyes because it was just
black and white the pictures were also black and white. After a while the words kept combing
and for viewing it online it was even worst. I recommend using bigger font because bigger font
you can distinguish the different words and lines. We used bigger font since our generation of
audience is older usually when their eyesight starts going bad. We stuck with black and white for
the font, but the pictures have color. We also did one page per subject we were trying to show
this helped them not get confused and focus on one thing by its self.

Subject: User guide

We chose to do a booklet type of User guide. We chose our user guide to be started with
the basics of using a cellular device. The basics such as turning on and off the phone.
Taking a picture etc. The basics are what everyone needs to start out with because if you
dont know how to use the outside of the phone using the software would become more
difficult. We processed writing the directions by acting as if we were the audience such
as how we would want to absorb information. We wouldnt want a very wordy direction
process to many words means a lot of confusion with a lot of frustration and eventually
leading to the giving up of using the phone. We went from these long explanations of
thing and tried it out by cutting down on the long explanation and making it simple and
short straight to the point. The entire guide is designed for even a 5-year-old to
understand. Our user guide is to be the best and most simple part of using Orlandos
phones we want to take the fruition out of using a cell phone.

We chose those who are in the elder generation to be our audience. Of course, we are
going to have people who are not in that target audience and that is okay because the
more products we sell the bigger our business gets and the more we can reach out to in
audience. We chose to do a booklet type user guide because we chose the elderly to sell
our products to. We figured that if we are teaching them to use a smart phone they are
less likely to know how to use the internet if they even have internet. Having the booklet
cuts out any difficulties other than the person needs to be able to read. We also are doing
it in Spanish because the elderly usually doesnt learn English especially since that is not
the dominate language. Doing the research most people speak both languages so we will
also have them so if the prefer English it would be accessible to them. The user guide is
very simple to read and has the least complex language and is laid out direction by
direction so there will be no confusion while trying to also make it look professional. We
are learning this because we may be in a situation when we must make a user guide or
something of similar effect and have the experience of knowing how to make it and the
basics of putting one together.

We searched mainly for pictures of the phone and arrows pointing to them to make it
simpler to navigate the buttons we were talking about. Imagings sometimes help a lot if
a person is confused on what they are reading they have a better view with images. They
tend to help us a lot more than hurting us. Only because in every user guide there are
images with arrows or direction indicator to help make it an easier use. We put a picture
for every direction we were given. Our way is so that if they dont understand the writing
out of our user guide they understand the portion of the picture enough to get where we
are going in the directions.
We got feedback about a lot in our user guide. We had a very basic draft of what we
wanted to do. We added a lot of what they suggested. Such as a table of contents and a
cover page or title page. They told us how this would help our audience navigate just in
case they didnt want to or need help with using the entire cell phone. We also had to
enlarge our font. They said by enlarging our font it makes it easier to read and sometimes
they can understand it better because they arent concentrating on reading but
concentrating in understanding the directions. They also helped us find more pictures that
also helped us. We had a great experience with our group and they seemed to give u great
feedback in what we needed help with. They also didnt criticize they told us what we
also did good. We suggested a few minor details such as making the directions not too
long and by making it have more color not just plane black and white.
We were challenged by making the whole pitch part of the assignment. That part was
trying to get a lot of research to make sure what we were selling was accurate. Many
websites have different facts we ended up having to use our best judgment to see which
information is most accurate. The rest of the assignments feel into place if we did the
assignments before that. We would prefer having more instruction on the assignments not
something so broad for the main portion so we understand what you are looking for.
We were surprised with the amount of work and time we had to put into the sequence.
We underestimated the assignments when we first looked at them. Other than that, we
viewed it as a simple assignment especially when working in groups. My partner and I
worked together to make sure we put our best effort in the assignment when we have
someone we can depend on being in a group isnt bad what so over. It tends to lift off a
lot of pressure that we get on finishing the work load. Over all this assignment was fun
because we got to pretend that we were business women and learn a lot on another
country that isnt as advanced as we are here in the United States.
