(1) CONCEPT STAGE & PRESENTATION:

A) Understand design brief and work out various conceptual alternatives

B) Preparation of a checklist of user's requirements, and transforming it into
design concepts.
C) Preparing Sketches, Layouts, Floor Plans, Sections,3-D Views and Models
using various media & techniques, to effectively to communicate the
design concept obtain preliminary approvals for the next stage of the project.

(2) DEVELOPMENT STAGE:

A) Develop the concepts approved in the earlier stage, by incorporating
various technical aspects including structural system, dimensions, various
building services, and try to put together all disciplines coherently without
losing the originally approved concept.

(3) APPROVAL STAGE:

A) Understand the "Development Control Rules" of the local authorities.
B) Learn the application of the D.C.R. to a particular project, and modify the
developed design accordingly, prepare a complete set of drawings for approval
by the concerned authorities.

(5) WORKING DRAWINGS & DETAILING STAGE:

A) Preparation of a checklist of working drawings/ detail drawings required for
the execution of the project.
B) Prepare a complete set of the above for a particular project.
C) Study how the above requirements may vary for a different type of project.

(6) EXECUTION STAGE:
Frequent site visits accompanied by a senior site supervisor are of utmost
importance. Understanding of the following may be emphasized during such
visits.
i) Sequence of execution.
ii) Construction techniques used at different stages of construction, for
example, for sub-structure & super structure, various materials used as
structural elements or as internal/ external finishes, and how they are executed
on site.
iii) Study of various materials available for construction, their sizes, suppliers,
costs, wastage, effective costs at the end of execution, & method of
application.
iv) Building services, viz. plumbing, sanitation, electrification,
telecommunication, elevators, generator, air conditioning, gas geysers,
fire-fighting system etc.
v) Role of the architect as "The Coordinator" of various disciplines & services
involved in the execution of a construction project.

(7) PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE:

A) Preparing detailed estimates of an entire project, based on current market
rates & preparation of rate analysis.
B) Tender procedure, various types of agreements, various methods of
inviting quotation and awarding the work, bill preparation & checking (on site
as well as in office), certifying the checked bills, etc.
C) Attending Client meetings and vendor co ordination.
