Artificial intelligence has become a controversial subject in recent years, due to the rapid
but there are many who think this technology could be dangerous. Many countries are already
using artificial intelligence in the military for autonomous killing machines. Will this technology
work as it is supposed to, or will we create something that outsmarts us? Can this technology be
intelligence, or should it be regulated worldwide? If it should be regulated, how? These are all
questions I explored when researching artificial intelligence. I found three sources who all have
The first viewpoint is that of Oren Etzioni, the chief executive of the Allen Institute for
Artificial Intelligence. He believes that we should regulate artificial intelligence. His viewpoint
is that we should be cautious with artificial intelligence, but not stop making advancements in the
technology. It should never be weaponizable, and we must always be able to shut it down if
needed. Overall, he believes we should regulate the tangible impact of artificial intelligence.
Another viewpoint is that of Xavier Amatriain, of Quora. He believes that it should not
the technology would be difficult. He also argues that it is too early to tell whether we should
regulate it or not. We cant regulate artificial intelligence if we dont know what to regulate and
how to do it.
The third perspective is that of Elon Musk, a famous entrepreneur. He believes that
artificial intelligence poses a huge threat to mankind, if not dealt with correctly. He thinks that if
we arent proactive about regulating artificial intelligence, it will be too late by the time it causes
While all of these viewpoints are different, they mostly agree on the fact that artificial
intelligence should not be weaponizable. We are too early in the development of artificial
threatening problem for the entire world, if our development of the technology gets out of
control. These viewpoints however do not agree that artificial intelligence should be regulated.
Elon Musk argues that we must be proactive in the regulation of artificial intelligence, or it will
be too late. On the other hand, Xavier Amatriain argues that we should not regulate it at all. If
we were to regulate the advancement of artificial intelligence, it would completely hinder future
advancements. The viewpoint of Oren Etzioni sits somewhere in the middle of the other two.
He believes that we should be cautious with artificial intelligence, but not slow down
development. If we slow down development of this technology, other countries will get far
ahead of us. These viewpoints have their differences, but overall agree that artificial intelligence
should not be weaponized, and we should be cautious when it comes to the development of
artificial intelligence.
