Students Career Prospects." Journal of Engineering Design, vol. 28, no. 7-9, Jul-

Sep2017, pp. 549-567. Academic Search Complete (EBSCO). Accessed 30 Nov. 2017.

This article discusses the needs of bridging the gap between the higher education that

students receive in college to their readiness for the real world and finding jobs. Talks

about what a lot of programs and classes lack in their curriculum when showing them

practicality. Further goes into the program they made as an experiment at a school that

didnt require student to sacrifice time to do an internship. Shows how this was able to

teach students a great amount of experience during their studies over 6-month period.

Electrical Engineer. Sokanu, www.sokanu.com/careers/electrical-engineer/. Accessed 21 Nov.

2017.

This website gives a smooth breakdown of what electrical engineering is and a little

about what they do. It talks about the main thing they are responsible for, electronics, and

how they can use that for a number of things. This site is helpful because it helps show

me what a basic explanation of electrical engineering is so that I can create my own for

the website.

Electrical Timeline. Engineering Timelines - electrical timeline, www.engineering-

timelines.com/how/electricity/timeline.asp. Accessed 21 Nov. 2017.

This site gives an overview of the history of electrical engineering. It shows a timeline

with brief descriptions of notable thing was accomplished. This will be helpful to my

website because it will allow me to show new comers how this discourse community
Shepherd 2

came to be and what happened along the way. It does hurt me a bit as well because it

doesnt in very much detail for the timeline.

Jones, Edwin C. Jr. Electrical Engineering. Access Science, McGraw-Hill Education, 2014.

Access Science (McGraw Hill). Accessed 30 Nov. 2017.

This article gives a complete overview of what electrical engineering is and does. The

article discusses what the scope of being an electrical engineer is. Then goes into an

explanation of working on computers and how thats one of the main areas youll work

on. It discusses the different things you can work on to the challenges youll face. It goes

a little farther into detail and talks about different parts of electrical engineering.

Milstein, Laurence B. Electrical Communications. Access Science, McGraw-Hill Education,

2014. Access Science (McGraw Hill). Accessed 30 Nov. 2017.

This article gives an example of a subfield in the Electrical engineering field. It goes into

what Electrical Communications is and what it works on. The article discuses different

things like communications theory and analog modulation. It then shows how it relates

to the actual field of engineering. This article is helpful because itll show the newcomers

different things that are available to electrical engineers. It will also show what they are

and how they work to give an idea on the kind of work you would do.

Menu. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering,

www.ece.ucf.edu/EE/requirements.php. Accessed 21 Nov. 2017.

This website shows an in-depth analysis of the tracks you can major in at the nearby

university. It shows what each one follows and gives links to PDFs that show each class

you would take depending on the track you follow. All of the classes listed are the
Shepherd 3

starting point after you obtain your Associate of Arts. This website is useful because it

shows me exactly the education needed depending on what you want to do in the field.

This will help me show the new comers exactly what they need to do to become a part of

the discourse community.

Skopljanac-Macina, Frano, et al. "Automated Generation of Questions for Basic Electrical

Engineering Education." Annals of DAAAM & Proceedings, vol. 27, Jan. 2016, pp. 377-

385. Academic Search Complete (EBSCO). Accessed 21 Nov. 2017.

This research paper is an educational breakdown of how to create online learning for

electrical engineering. It discusses the problems teaching has and how online learning

could be effective, not only for the student, but make it easier for the teacher. The way

that this paper is set up is a bit too specific with the diagrams and article they show to

hold too much importance to my website but still as value. The paper can be useful for

talking about the need for online teaching in college atmospheres because of how static

some classrooms can be and the differences some teachers have when giving instruction

and questions.

Summary. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,

www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/electrical-and-electronics-engineers.htm.

Accessed 21 Nov. 2017.

This website gives an entire base breakdown of what an electrical engineer does, what

their salary is, how to become one, the opportunities that are available to you. It has an

overview tab giving a brief explanation of everything previously stated. There is a tab for

each section going a little deeper into detail. This site will be a vital source of information
Shepherd 4

because of how much it offers. It doesnt go into great detail on some sections, but this

site can be example of what I want to achieve in this project.

Top 10 Electrical Projects Ideas for Final Year Engineering Students. ElProCus - Electronic

Projects for Engineering Students, 2 Oct. 2014, www.elprocus.com/electrical-projects-

for-engineering-students/. Accessed 21 Nov. 2017.

This website talks about different projects electrical engineering students can work on. It

shows what each are and then gives a brief overview of what happens. This site doesnt

hold a lot of value; its main purpose is to just give a glimpse at the type of things

electrical engineers or can work on.

UAHuntsvilleCPE431. NASA Engineer Interviews. YouTube, YouTube, 1 Dec. 2014,

www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MIwZRJo9S8. Accessed 30 Nov. 2017.

The video is an interview of Employees of NASA and what their jobs are and have been.

They talk about what they currently are working on and what they have done in the past.

Some of the people interviewed discuss their education as well.

Yao, James T. P., and Jose M. Roesset. Engineering Education. AccessScience, McGraw-Hill

Education, 2002. Access Science (McGraw Hill). Accessed 30 Nov. 2017.

This article talks about engineering as a whole. It gives an introduction to engineering

and the responsibilities an engineer has to the world. Then moves on to discuss

curriculum changes in colleges and how they plan on doing more fundamentals and

preparation for students into the world of engineering. In the past they focused ore solely

on the actual knowledge and not as much real-world application to working as an

electrical engineer. This article is going to be helpful to my website because it will show
Shepherd 5

the newcomers what an engineer is before I overload them with what an electrical

engineer is.
