Title: The Art of Being Yourself! Exploring and Expressing Emotions Trough Art.

Summary:
I would like to develop an art curriculum that will also include art and creative therapy. The
activities will be specifically designed to create a comprehensive approach to help develop and
manage behaviors and feelings, reduced stress and improve self-esteem, and awareness. The
creative process of art making can transform and enhance the overall well-being of participants.
By drawing and painting clients will learn how to express their feelings in a creative and less
stressful way. This intervention/activity will help the participant express her/his feelings without
the restrains of having to verbalize their emotions.

Objectives:
The objectives are to help participants express their feelings/emotions through the creative
process of art making. The process will result in the transformation and enhancement of
participants overall well-being and cognitive awareness.

What you do:
Introductions - Participants will introduce themselves and share at least one thing they like the
most. This will serve as an icebreaker activity.
Finger Painting Activity - Participants will use poster boards, different color paints, and their
hands/fingers in an expressive way to create shapes and patters freely and uninhibited.
Getting Creative with Collage Activity Participants will gather different pictures and images
from old magazines to create their collages. Through this activity they can express how they feel
today and how they would like to manage their emotions or behaviors.
Magic Marbles Activity This activity will help participant use uplifting words to improve self-
esteem. The activity consists of tracing the shape of a clear glass marble and writing an uplifting
word. Then adhere the word on to the back of the clear glass marble and create powerful
uplifting messages to remember every time the participant looks at it.
Memory Box Activity This activity consists of using blank gift boxes, old magazines images
or pictures, clear glue or starch, brushes to adhere glue onto images and boxes. The participants
will use this activity to create a memory box. In this box they can put all of the good memories
they have enjoy with their families and friends.
Sand Art Activity For this activity the participants will use colored sand, small plastic art sand
bottles with cork, small funnels. For this activity the participants will be asked to use different
layers of color sand to describe their feelings or emotions. This way the participant can recognize
how they feel every time he or she sees the sand creation they made.
Collage Greeting Cards Activity For this activity the participants will use construction paper,
glue, beads, buttons, feathers, or leaves. Participants will create greeting cards for their family
and friends. They can express their feelings and emotions through this process. In addition, they
can express how they feel and share those feelings with their family and friends.
Winter Celebration Ornamental Globes Activity For this activity the participants will use
paint, brushes, plastic clear ornamental globes. For this activity participants will be asked to
create an ornamental globe. They can choose any color or theme of their liking to create their
ornamental globes.
Winter Wonderland Activity For this activity participants will use paper, paints, brushes,
markers, and their imagination to create a winter wonderland landscape.
