Hungarian Gulyas

for the guests who love to eat spicy!! Hungarian Gulyas is a stew
of meat and vegetables which is seasoned with spices. It
originates from Hungary and is predominantly eaten in Central
Europe. Here is the basic way to make it but you can always add
something different!

tsp crushed caraway seed


2 tbsp noble sweet Hungarian paprika
1 lb(500 g) beef chuck, cubed
Salt and pepper to taste
1 quart (litre) of water
2 large potatoes, cubed

How to make it? Font color: Text 1

1. Heat lard or oil in Dutch oven onion over medium heat. Wait until it gets translucent.
2. Add paprika and caraway and stir.
3. Add beef
4. Add salt and pepper to taste
5. Brown the meat on all sides
6. Add the water and bring to simmer
7. Turn the heat to low and keep it covered for 30 minutes
8. Add potatoes and salt and pepper to taste
9. Add water to cover the potatoes
10. Simmer until potatoes are tender (10-15 minutes)
11. Season it

i) Add water to cover the potatoes


j) Simmer until potatoes are tender ( 10-15 minutes)
k) Season it
