StartUsingUninstallView

UninstallViewdoesn'trequireanyinstallationprocessoradditionalDLLfiles.Inordertostartusingit,simplyrun
theexecutablefileUninstallView.exe
AfterrunningUninstallView,itscansyourlocalsystemandcollectsallinformationabouttheprogramsinstalledon
yoursystem.Whenthescanningprocessisfinished,theinstalledprogramsinformationisdisplayedinthemain
window.

Notice:UninstallViewfirsttakestheofficialuninstallinformationintheRegistryprovidedbythesoftwareitself
andthentriestocompleteanymissinginformationfromotherplaces.It'spossiblethatsomeoftheunofficial
informationcollectedbyUninstallViewwillbeinaccurate.

Loadinguninstallinformationfromothersources

Inordertoloaduninstallinformationfromothersources(insteadofyourcurrentsystem),pressF9(Advanced
Options)andchoosethedesiredoptioninthe'LoadFrom'combobox:

Localsystemcurrentuser:Thisisthedefaultoption,theuninstallinformationisloadedfromyourlocal
systemandcurrentuser.

user,andalsofromallotherusersonthissystem.Thescanningofotherusersworksonlyifyouhaveread
accesstotheprofileofotherusersandtheirRegistryfileisnotlocked.It'srecommendedtousethisoption

Remotecomputer:UninstallViewloadstheuninstallinformationfromaremotecomputeronyournetwork.
Youneedadminaccesstotheremotemachineinordertousethisoption.Also,iftheRemoteRegistryservice
ontheremotemachineisturnedoff,youshouldturnonthe'AutomaticallyturnontheremoteRegistry
service'option.
Remotecomputerallusers:Similartothe'Remotecomputer'option,butinthisoptionUninstallViewalso
scanstheRegistryofalluserprofilesontheremotesystem.Thescanningofotherusersworksonlyifyou
havereadaccesstotheprofileofotherusersandtheirRegistryfileisnotlocked.
Externaldrive:UninstallViewloadstheuninstallinformationfromexternalharddrivepluggedtoyour
computer.YoumayneedtorunUninstallViewasadministrator(Ctrl+F11)inordertoaccesstheRegistry
filesontheexternaldrive.
OlderUninstalldatafromshadowcopy(Requireselevation):Ifyouhaveshadowcopiesonyoursystem,
youcanwatchtheinstalledprogramslistfromthedaythattheshadowcopywascreated.

Themedium/fastspeedmightbeusefulifyouconnectaremotecomputerandtheloadingprocessistooslow.But...
BeawarethatsomeoftheuninstalldetailswillbemissingwhenusingtheMedium/Fastmode.Thereisalso"Don't
loadicons"optionthatmightincreasetheloadingspeedbyavoidingfromloadingtheiconsofinstalledprograms.

UninstallasoftwarewithUninstallView

UninstallViewprovides3optiontouninstallasoftware:

UninstallSelectedSoftware:Thisoptionrunsthestandarduninstallcommandofthesoftware,likeinthe
'ProgramsandFeatures'moduleinControlPanelofWindows.
ChangeInstallOfSelectedSoftware:Thisoptionrunsthestandardchangeinstallcommandofthesoftware
(Onlyifit'savailable),likeinthe'ProgramsandFeatures'moduleinControlPanelofWindows.
QuietlyUninstallSelectedSoftware:Thisoptionrunstheuninstallofthesoftwarewithoutdisplayingany
userinterface.Onlyifquiet/silentuninstallisavailableforthissoftware.Youcancheckwhether
UninstallViewcaninitiateaquietuninstallbylookingatthe'QuietUninstallString'column.Ifit'snotempty,
itmeansthatthereisquietuninstallsupport.

Uninstallasoftwareonremotenetworkcomputer

UninstallViewallowsyoutouninstallasoftwareonaremotecomputerbyusingthePsExectoolfrom
SysInternals/Microsoft.YouhavetoputPsExec.exeinthesamefolderofUninstallView.exeandthentheuninstall
optionswillbeenabledwhenconnectingaremotemachine.Themostusefuloptionforremotecomputeris'Quiet
Uninstall'becausethesoftwareisuninstalledwithoutdisplayinganythingonthescreenoftheremotecomputer.Be
awarethattheuninstallontheremotemachineisexecutedwithSYSTEMuser,andsomeuninstallersmightwork
improperlywhenrunningthemremotely.

UninstallRunMode:InthisoptionyouchoosehowUninstallViewrunstheuninstallcommandwhenusing
the'UninstallSelectedSoftware','ChangeInstallOfSelectedSoftware'and'QuietlyUninstallSelected
Software'actions:
Runasadministratorifit'srequired:Thisisthedefaultoption.UninstallViewwillruntheuninstall
commandasadministrator(elevation)onlyifit'srequiredbytheinstallerorbytheoperatingsystem.
Alwaysrunasadministrator:UninstallViewwillalwaysruntheuninstallcommandasadministrator.
Show'SystemComponent'Items:Bydefault,UninstallViewdoesn'tdisplaytheuninstallitemsmarked
with'SystemComponent'attribute(ThestandarduninstalltoolofWindowsalsohidesthem).Youcanturnon
thisoptioninordertoviewthese'SystemComponent'items.Beawarethatwhenthisoptionisturnedon,you
mightseemultipleuninstallitemswithidenticaldisplayname.
ShowItemsWithParentUninstallEntry:Bydefault,UninstallViewdoesn'tdisplayuninstallitemswith
parentuninstallentry(ParentKeyNameRegistryvalue).ThestandarduninstalltoolofWindowsalsohides
them.Youcanturnonthisoptioninordertoviewuninstallitemswithparententry.
ShowItemsWithoutUninstallString:Bydefault,UninstallViewdoesn'tdisplayuninstallitemsthatdon't
haveuninstallcommandstring.Youcanturnonthisoptioninordertoviewtheseitems,butbeawarethat
UninstallViewcannotuninstalltheseitems.

displayname.Youcanturnonthisoptionifyouwanttoviewtheseitems.
AllowUninstallOfMultipleItems:Ifyouenablethisoption,UninstallViewwillallowyoutouninstall
multipleprogramsatonce.It'sverypowerful,butitalsomightbefatalifyouuseitimproperly(Forexample:
runningquietuninstallforallsoftwareonyoursystem...).Enablingthisoptionisonyourownrisk.
