Manage HCM Enterprise Information
The following table shows the suggested sequence and the high-level purpose
of Enterprise and Work Structure Tasks.
Note: Optional tasks are denoted with an asterisk symbol (*)

Types of Employment Models

Two-Tier
This model comprises two types of entities, which are work
relationships and assignments.
Three-Tier
This model comprises three types of entities, which are work
relationships, employment terms, and assignments.

Using the Two-Tier Employment Model

By default, every enterprise uses the two-tier single-


assignment employment model.
You can select a different employment model for the
enterprise or for individual legal employers.

Using the Three-Tier Employment Model

If you select any of the three-tier employment models at the


enterprise level, you can select a different employment model for
individual legal employers.

Changing the Employment Model

You can change the employment model for the enterprise or


legal employer during initial implementation or later.
There are some restrictions on switching to and from
particular employment models.

Employment Terms Override

Preventing Override at the Assignment Level: Users


cannot update assignment attribute values inherited from
employment terms.
Allowing Override at the Assignment Level: Users can
update assignment attribute values inherited from
employment terms.
Deferring the Decision to the Employment Terms:
Whenever a user creates a set of employment terms, that
user can decide whether to allow or prevent override at the
assignment level.

Position Synchronization in Two-Tier Employment
Model
Inheritance of values in an assignment from the values
specified in the associated position.
By default, position synchronization is not enabled in a two-tier
employment model.
You have to enable it using either the Edit Enterprise or the
Manage Legal Entity pages.

Enabling Position Synchronization

You can enable position synchronization either at the


enterprise or the legal employer levels.
If you enable position synchronization at both levels, then the
settings specified at the legal employer level takes
precedence over the enterprise level settings.

Assignment Override

If you enable position synchronization, assignments inherit


specified values from the associated position.
You can also specify if the value can be overridden at the
assignment level.
If you prevent override at the assignment level, users cannot
update the specified attributes that the assignment has
inherited from the position.
If you allow override, users can update any attribute values
inherited from position. At the assignment level, if you change
the Synchronize from Position attribute to No, then you can
update all attributes but the assignment will not be
synchronized with the position.

Work Day Information

Defines the standard working hours for each worker


assignment in the enterprise or legal employer
Is taken from the schedule, if a schedule has been assigned
to the enterprise, legal employer, or department. Otherwise,
you can enter work day information for the enterprise, legal
employer, and department.
Is used for assignment budgeting purposes

Person Number Generation

You can select one of the following person number generation


methods for your enterprise:
Manual
Automatic prior to submission
Automatic upon final save
Formula (available in future releases)
Initial Person Number
You can specify the initial person number for your enterprise
when person numbers are generated automatically.
Person Numbers for Contact Records
Are generated automatically through the Automatic prior to
submission method

Worker Number Generation

You can optionally allocate worker numbers to employees and


contingent workers.
You can generate worker numbers either manually or
automatically.
If you select automatic worker-number generation, numbers
can be allocated from either an enterprise sequence or a legal
employer sequence.
All legal employers automatically inherit the enterprise
number-generation method. You can override the number-
generation method at the legal employer level.

Assignment Number Generation

Assignments are identified by assignment numbers, which you


can allocate either manually or automatically.
If you allocate numbers manually, they must be unique in the
enterprise.

Person-Name Languages

Each enterprise identifies a global-name language. Person


names appear in this language by default.
Users can set preferences to select the language in which
they see the display-name versions of person names.
When you create a person record, you can enter a local name
in a different language from the global-name language.
