AcademicRulesandRegulationsforPostgraduateProgramsatPIEAS

2.1. Introduction
According to its mandate, PIEAS may offer various twoyear postgraduate degree
programs in basic sciences, engineering and Computer and Informatics disciplines.
Currently,PIEASisofferingthefollowingMS/M.Phil.programsinvariousdisciplinesof
scienceandengineering:
1. MSNuclearEngineering
2. MSSystemsEngineering
3. MScNuclearMedicine
4. MSMedicalPhysics
5. MSProcessEngineering
6. MSMaterialsEngineering
7. MSMechanicalEngineering
8. M.Phil.Physics
9. MScRadiationandMedicalOncology
10. M.Phil.ComputerScience
11. MSElectricalEngineering
12. MSRadiationPhysics

All of the above degrees are equivalent to M. Phil. degrees offered in engineering or
physicalsciencedisciplinesbyotherPakistaniuniversities.Applicationsforadmissionto
theseprogramsofstudyareinvitedfromalloverPakistanandadmissionsaremadeon
the basis of merit prepared after conducting a written test and interviews. Foreign
studentsseekingadmissionstothisInstitutearerequiredtosubmittheirapplications
throughtheMinistryofForeignAffairs,GovernmentofPakistan.

2.2. General
a) Astudentisrequiredtotakeaminimumof9credithourcoursesandamaximumof21
credit hours courses in a semester with the approval of the Head of the respective
department.HowevercredithourslimitsofSummerSessionaredifferentandgivenin
section2.12.
b) Themaximumandminimumdurationaswellascredithoursofvariouspostgraduate
degreeprogramsareasfollows.

In MS (Medical Physics) there is a course and lab work of 3 semesters and thesis work plus clinical attachment

2.3. CoursesofStudyandSyllabi
a) The respective Boards of Studies submit the courses of study and syllabi for various
degreesofferedatPIEAStotheAcademicCommitteeforapprovalthroughtheBoard
of Faculties. Such courses and syllabi become effective from the date of approval by
the Academic Committee or such other date as the Academic Committee may
determine.

2.4. OrganizationofTeaching
a) Teachinginvariouscoursesshallbeconductedindifferentacademicdepartmentsof
PIEAS or constituent/affiliated Institutions through lectures, tutorials, discussions,
seminars, demonstrations, practical work in laboratories, field work and other
methodsofinstructionsapprovedbytheAcademicCommittee.
b) PIEAS teachers shall conduct teaching in each Department/Institution or such other
personsasmaybedeclaredtobeteachers.Ateacherisdefinedasafulltimeorpart
timefacultymemberofPIEASoritsaffiliatedinstitutions.Thisincludesthosepersons
whohavebeenhiredforteachingforaspecificperiodoftimebutareneitherfulltime
norparttimefacultymemberofPIEASnoritsaffiliatedinstitutes.
c) Teaching in each department shall be organized through courses specified for each
degreeprogramdulyapprovedbytherelevantbodiesmentionedinSection2.4.These
coursescancarryweightageofdifferentcredits.Acourseofonecreditshallmeanone
houroflecture/threehourslaboratoryworkperweekforaminimumdurationof16
weeks.
d) Englishshallbethemediumofinstructions.
e) FacultyofAppliedSciencesshallofferMS/MPhilDegreesinfollowingdisciplinesorany
other disciplines, which may be approved by Board of Governors on the
recommendationofAcademicCommittee/BoardofFacultiesfromtimetotime:
1. MedicalPhysics
2. NuclearMedicine
3. Physics
4. RadiationandMedicalOncology
5. ComputerScience
f) MS Engineering degree in the Faculty of Engineering will be offered in the following
disciplinesandanyothersubjects,whichmaybeapprovedbyBoardofGovernorson
therecommendationofAcademicCommittee/BoardofFacultiesfromtimetotime:
1. NuclearEngineering
2. SystemsEngineering
3. MaterialsEngineering
4. ProcessEngineering
5. MechanicalEngineering
6. ElectricalEngineering
7. RadiationPhysics

2.5. Admission
a) In order to be eligible for admission in the abovementioned postgraduate degree
programs,theapplicantshouldhavecompleted16yearsofeducationandmeetsthe
prerequisite course requirements of the department where he/she is seeking the
admission. He/she should have scored 60% marks/first division or 2.5 CGPA at the
scale of 4 throughout the academic career. However, only one second division/50
59.9% marks or equivalent GPA may be allowed in the academic career but the
applicants with any third division are not eligible to apply. This condition may be
relaxedbytheRectorincaseofnominationsfrom

b) Each applicant shall make an application on the prescribed form for admission in
PIEAS,inresponsetotheadvertisementbyPIEAS/affiliatedinstitutes/Organizations
SponsoringPIEASinNationalDailies.
c) Each student shall be admitted on the basis of merit prepared from the written test
and interview conducted by PIEAS / affiliated institutes / Organizations Sponsoring
PIEASornominatedbyastrategicorganizationonthebasisofsomepredetermined
agreedcriterionbetweenPIEASandotherorganizationssubjecttofulfillmentofclause
2.5a.
d) All admissions shall be approved by the respective Dean of the Faculty on the
recommendationsoftherespectiveHeadoftheTeachingDepartmentandalsobythe
headsofthesponsoringagenciesincaseoffellows.
e) Admission to one Department shall not give the students the right to migrate to
another Department except if approved by the Rector on the recommendation of a
committeecomprisingoftheDeansandProRector.
f) A student who has passed the above mentioned post graduate degree examination
from PIEAS or any other University shall not be admitted to any Department of the
Institute except with the permission of the Rector PIEAS. The Rector may refuse
admissionwithoutassigninganyreasons.
g) Thereisnoagelimitforadmissiononregularfeebasis.

2.6. RegistrationofCourses
a) Atthebeginningofeachsemester,astudentmustregisterinthecoursesofstudyon
theprescribedRegistrationFormsduring1stweekofthesemester.Studentsfailingto
register during 1st week of the semester can register during 2nd to 4th week of the
semesterbypayingalatefeeofRs.100/perday.Iftheyfailtoregistereveninthe4th
week,theiradmissionwillstandcancelledwithoutanynotice.Inthiscase,theyhave
topayreadmissionfeealongwithlatefee,however,theywillnotbeeligibleforany
concessionintheattendance.
b) Registrationofcoursesmeans;
1. Online filling and submission of courses registration forms duly signed by the
studentandtherespectiveHeadofthedepartment.
2. Payment of the academic dues as per rules mentioned in FEE PAYMENT
SCHEDULE(AnnexureA).
c) If a student desires, he/she may take additional noncredit course(s) out of the
prescribed courses. The noncredit course(s) shall also be registered like the credit
courses. On successful completion or otherwise of a noncredit course(s), a mention
will be made to this effect in the transcript. However the score of these non credit
coursesshallnotbeconsideredforthecalculationoftheGPA/CGPA.Failureinanon
creditcourseshallnotaffecteligibilityforanyawards/distinctions.
d) Thestudentscanchange/addcourse(s)duringthesecondweekofthesemesteronthe
written recommendation of the teacher(s) and the Head of the Department
concerned. No change/addition of course(s) will be allowed 15days after the
commencementofthesemester.
e) A course cancellation may be allowed by the end of 4th week of each semester by
submitting an application to Controller of Examination through concerned Head of
Department.
f) A student may be allowed to withdraw course(s) by the end of 8th week in regular
semestersandbytheendof4thweekincaseofsummersession.Feeforthecourse(s)
willbechargedandawithdrawalshallbeindicatedbyWonthetranscript.However,

theminimumloadlimitswillapplyforsemester/session.
g) The Head of each Department shall forward the course enrollment summary of
studentsafterverificationtotheControllerofExaminationswithinfourweeksofthe
commencementofthesemester.
h) AstudentshallnotbeeligibleforreadmissiontoanyDepartmentatPIEASif
1. He/shehasbeendroppedfromtherollsforhis/herconduct.
2. He/sheisalreadyregisteredandstudyinginanydegreeprogramofPIEASorany
otherdegreeawardinginstitutioninPakistan.

2.7. Examinations
a) AstudentshallbeeligibletositfortheTerminalExaminationprovidedthatHe/Shehas
beenontherollsofthePIEASduringthesemester.He/Shehasregisteredhimselffor
the courses of study and has attended not less than 80% of the lectures/seminars
delivered to his class and 80% of the practical/laboratory demonstrations prescribed
for the respective course. The Head of the respective Department may on the
recommendations of the teacher of the course concerned condone the deficiency in
attendance up to 5% of the total lectures, seminars, practical and laboratory
demonstrations.Thestudentfallingshortoftherequiredpercentageofattendanceof
lectures/seminars/practical/laboratorydemonstrationsetc.shallnotbeallowedtosit
in the Terminal Examination of the concerned course and shall be treated as having
failedinthatcourse.
b) The concerned faculty member may relax the attendance of a course in case of a
repetitionofacourse.
c) Each course shall have 100 marks. 50 % of which shall be reserved for the terminal
examinationsandrestforthemidtermtestsincludingassignments.However,incase
of laboratory courses 100 % marks shall be reserved for the midterm tests, reports,
assignmentsandvivavoceetc.
d) The assessment of composite courses that consists of a lab as well as theoretical
course work shall be done separately. That is theory and lab parts will be graded
separatelyeachconsistingof100marksandweightagetotheoryandlabpartsshallbe
assigneddependinguponthecredithoursoftheoryandlab.
e) There shall be a written terminal examination for each taught course at the end of
eachsemester,onthedatesandlocationtobefixedbytheControllerofExaminations
inconsultationwiththeDean/Head.
f) Terminalexaminationcannotberescheduledexceptonlyincaseofuniversityclosure
byFederalGovernmentemergencyandthedurationofterminalexaminationshallbe
minimum3hours.
g) Minimumpassmarksinacourseshallbe50%ORGP=2atthescaleof4.

2.8. GradesPromotionAndMerit
a) The grades of each course shall be calculated as Grade Points GP whereas the
promotion grades of the students shall be calculated as Grade Points Average (GPA)
andCumulativeGradePointAverage(CGPA).TheGP,GPAandCGPAwillbecalculated
atthescaleof4.

c) The minimum passing criteria for any postgraduate course / semester / degree is as
under:

d) Students securing marks less than 50 but 45 in any taught / Lab course will be
awardedGP=1.0.ThisGPwillbecountedtowardscalculationofGPA.However,the
studentshallberequiredtorepeatthissubjecttoobtainaminimumofLG=C,GP=2
or%Marks=50.
e) Student securing marks less than 45 in any taught / Lab course will be declared as
failedinthatsubjectandwillbeawardedGP=0,LG=F.
f) The thesis or project work shall be graded as Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair,
SatisfactoryorUnsatisfactory.Thegradesobtainedinthethesisorprojectworkshall
not be counted towards the calculation of Grade Point Average. However, for MS
Nuclear Medicine, the project work and clinical attachment would be graded
numerically and the grades obtained will be counted towards the calculation of GPA
andCGPA.
g) On the recommendation of the Thesis Committee (comprising supervisor and two
external examiners) and approval by the respective Head of the Department, the
durationofthethesisresearchmaybeextendedasfollows.
1. If the extension is for more than eight weeks, the student will be given
unsatisfactorygrade,willregisterinthenextsemester(withfullpaymentofdues
ifapplicable)andrepeateverything.His/herresultwillbedeclaredattheendof
thenextsemester.
2. Forextensionsuptoeightweeks,theresultofthestudentwillnotbedeclared
andhisstatuswill be considered asExtended.He willnotregister inthenext
semester but will pay half of the tuition fee for the full project credit hours (if
applicable).Hisresultwillbedeclaredeitherafterfouroreightweeks.However,
iftheThesisCommitteeandtherespectiveHeadoftheDepartmentfeelthatthe
thesis research needs to be extended beyond eight weeks, the result of the
student will be declared as Unsatisfactory, the student will late register in the
nextsemesterandwillbegivenunsatisfactorygrade.
h) A student shallberequiredtomaintainaminimumof 2.67GPA ineachsemester.A
studentfailingtomaintainaminimumof2.67GPAinanysemestershallbeplacedon
probationprovidedhisGPAisnotlessthan1.0.
i) Astudentplacedonprobation,shallbe:
1. AllowedtorepeatallthecoursesinwhichHe/Shehasfailedand/orsuchother
coursesasrecommendedbytheHeadoftheDepartment.

OR
Allowed to repeat on the advice of Head of the Department all or some of the
coursesinwhichHe/Shemayhavepassedduringthatsemesterbuthasfailedto
maintainaminimumGPAof2.67.
2. Ifastudentfailsinacoursemarkedascompulsorybytheconcerneddepartment
thenthestudenthastorepeatthesamecourse;howeverforfailuresinoptional
coursesthestudentcanrepeatthesameorsuchothercoursesasrecommended
bytheHeadoftheDepartment.
j) AstudentfailingtomaintainaGPAof2.67inanypostgraduateprogram,attheendof
thesemesterduringwhichhe/shewasplacedonprobationshallceasetobeastudent
ofPIEAS.
k) ProbationwillbedecidedontheGPAofthecurrentsemester.However,ifastudent
hascompletedallthecourseworkrequirementswithminimumCGPAof2.67shallnot
be placed on probation in thesemester in which he/she has completed course work
requirements.
l) InordertofulfilltheminimumpassingcriterionforanMS/MPhildegree,thestudent
mayhavetorepeatoneormoreofthecoursesinwhichhe/shehasalreadypassed.
Tohelpthe studentinthis regardtheCGPAwillalsobereportedattheendofeach
semesterinthetranscript.
m) Allcoursesrepeatedwillbethepartofthetranscript.However,onlythebestscorewill
beusedinthecalculationofCGPA.
n) If a student fails in a course, he/she may be allowed to pass this course in three
additionalattemptsatthemost.
o) OnsuccessfulcompletionoftherequirementsofMSdegree,eachcandidateshallbe
awardedtherespectivedegree.Aseparatetranscriptshallhoweverbeissuedtoeach
candidateshowingthegradesobtainedineachcourse(includingthatofthethesisor
project work), GPA and CGPA. The grades of thesis or project work shall not be
counted towards the calculation of the GPA or CGPA except for the Department of
MedicalSciences.
p) GPAshallbecalculatedinaccordancewiththefollowingformula:

q) The Controller of Examination shall issue a Certificate of Merit to a student in the
respective degree on the basis of the overall result provided that the student has
obtainedaCGPAof3.75ormoreandfulfillsthefollowingconditions:
a) hasnotfailedinanycreditcourse
b) hasnotrepeatedanycreditcourse
c) hastakentheaverageacademicloaddecidedbytherespectivedepartmentin
termsofcredithourspersemester
d) didnothaveanydiscontinuityinhisstudyfortherelevantdegree.

If the recipient of the Certificate of Merit also wins 1st position, he/she will also be
awardedGoldMedalfortherespectivedegreeprogram.

1. Dr.I.H.UsmanigoldmedalshallbeawardedforMS(NuclearEngineering).
2. Mr. Munir Ahmed Khan gold medal shall be awarded for MS (Systems
Engineering).
3. AnyothermedalasapprovedbytheBOGfortherespectivedegreecourse.

r) ThecontrollerofExaminationshallissueaCertificateofAppreciationtoamaximumof
threestudents.Onlythosestudentswillbeconsideredwhosethesisprojecthavebeen
assigned Excellent grade. The nominations shall be recommended by a committee
constituted by Dean of the concerned faculty comprising of Head of the concerned
department,onefacultymemberofthatdepartmentnotthesupervisorofthatthesis
or project and one member from some other department. In addition to this
recommendationthestudentmustalsohaveaminimumoverallCGPAof3.0andhas
not failed or repeated any credit course during his/her studies for that degree. The
concerned Dean shall forward the names of the students to the Controller of
Examinationwithinonemonthfromthedeclarationofthefinalresult.
s) Answerbookletsofterminalexaminationsofallprogramsshallbedestroyedoneyear
aftertheexam.

2.9. DroppingCoursesoraSemester
a) A student may be allowed to drop a semester if any of the following condition is
satisfied:
1. Incasewhereprenatalcaremandatescompleterestorifsafetyofthefetusdoes
notpermitanysortofstress.(Tobeaccessedbythecommitteementionedin2.9
a3).
2. If a student is hospitalized or suffers from an illness requiring prolonged
treatmentandillnessissuchthathe/sheisunabletoattendtheuniversity.
3. Allcasesfallingintheclause2.9a1and2.9a2above,shallbeassessedbya
committeeconsistingoftheHeadoftheDepartment,teacher(s)concernedanda
MedicalOfficer,SMOorabove,ofPIEAS.Cases,ifneedbe,couldalsobereferred
to the PAEC hospital for expert opinion. In case of any ambiguity or non
decisivenessexists,thecasemaybereferredtotheinterpretationcommittee.
4. IfstudentgetshospitalizedoutsideIslamabadorRawalpindi,thanhe/shehasto
submit a medical certificate, reports of all lab tests and other investigations to
his/herdepartment.His/hercasewillbeassessedasperprocedurelaiddownin
clause2.8n3above.
b) A student may be allowed to drop one or more courses if any of the following
conditionissatisfied:
1. Any of the clause 2.9a1 to 2.9a4 become operative during the final
examination.
2. Incaseofthedeathofanearrelative.ThetermNearRelativeimpliesParents,
Spouse,Children,Siblings,ParentsinLawandGrandParents.
3. Dropping a course may also be allowed if acute medical problem hinders the
studentfromtakingtheexamination.
c) Incaseofsemesterdroporcoursedrop,thestudentwillbeconsideredashe/shehas
notregisteredforthatparticularcourseorsemester.Noadditionaltuitionfeewillbe
chargedforthedroppedcourseorsemester.
d) Semesterorcourse(s)dropdoesnotimplypermissionformakeuptest;itonlypermits
thestudenttoclearhispendingcourseworkwhennextofferedbythedepartment.
e) The application of the above rules will put the clause of minimum course
work/semestersuspended.

2.10. ImprovementinCGPA
a) TheimprovementinCGPAwillbeallowedtostudentswhohavenotbeendeclaredPassOR
have not fulfilled the requirements of degree. In this regard the student should apply in
writingtotheControllerofExaminationsthroughtherespectiveHeadoftheDepartment

beforethedeclarationoffinalresult.However,nocoursereplacementswillbeallowedfor
improvementofCGPA.Forthispurpose,thestudentcaneitherrepeatanalreadypassed
courseortakeadditionalcourses.
b) Afternotificationofdegree,CGPAcannotbeimproved.

2.11. Writerforexaminations
a) Ingenuinemedicalcases(whereastudentisunabletowrite),awriterwillbeprovidedto
the student. This writer will be approved by the Controller of Examinations on
recommendationsoftheHeadoftheDepartmentconcerned.However,thestudentshould
submit the written request for a writer well before the commencement of the
examination.Suchexaminationsforwhichawriterisallowedwilltakeplaceonthecampus
only.

2.12. ProbationandGPAcalculationsinSummerSession
a) Astudentcanregisterin69credithoursduringsummersessionwithmaximumof7credit
hours for the taught courses. Except MS(NE), they can register up to 9 credit hours in
courseandLabwork.
b) GPA and probation calculations shall be done in summer session only for taught and lab
courses.
c) AllstudentspromotedfromtheprevioussemestermustmaintainaminimumGPAof2.0.
d) A student, already on probation, failing to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.67 in summer
session shall be allowed to continue in the next semester with the status Allowed to
continue provided his GPA is not less than 2.0. However, for termination of probation
fromaprevioussemester,aminimumGPAof2.67wouldbeessential.
e) A student having GPA greater than or equal to 1 and less than 2 shall be placed on
probation. In case of two consecutive probations, he/she shall cease to be a student of
PIEAS.
f) AstudenthavingGPAlessthan1shallalsoceasetobeastudentofPIEAS.

2.13. FreezingaSemester
a) Astudentmaybeallowedtofreezehis/hersemesteronlyifhe/shehasavalidreasonfor
it.
b) Freezingasemestershallbeallowedaftercompletionoffirstyear(twosemesters).
c) ThestudentshouldsubmitanapplicationtotheconcernedHeadofDepartmentbeforethe
startofsemesterifhe/shehas passedthe finalexaminationofprevioussemesterwith a
minimumGPAof2.67.
d) Head of Department shall forward the case with his/her comments/recommendations to
thecommitteecomprisingofDeansofFacultiesandRegistrar.Decisionofthecommittee
shallbenotifiedbyRegistrar.
e) Onlyonesemestershallbeallowedtofreezeduringthewholedurationoftheprogram.No
relaxationshallbegiveninthemaximumtimeallowedfordegreecompletion.
f) Student has to resume his/her studies in the following semester otherwise his/her
registrationwouldbecancelled.
g) Inthetranscript,itwillbeindicatedasSemesterFreeze.

2.14. ProbationandGPAcalculationsinExtrasemesters
a) If a student is registered in 9 credit hours or more in extra semester (beyond the
normal duration of the degree program) GPA calculations and probation rules will
apply.Themaximumnumberofattemptstopassacourseshallbefour.

2.15. DegreeSupplementForm(DSF)
a) The Degree Supplement Form (DSF) will be issued to students to provide supplementary
information along with the degree/transcript already in practice. However, it will not be
consideredasareplacementtodegree/transcript.
1. Applicant must fill in the prescribed application form and submit to the Controller of
Examinationsalongwiththecopyofhis/herCNICandtranscript/degree.
2. DSFfeeshallbecharged.
3. DSFshallbeissuedwithintwotothreeweeksafterreceiptofapplicationformalongwith
othernecessarydocuments.
4. Theinformationrequiredatpointno.4.3(LearningOutcomes)and5.1(FutureProspects)of
DSFshallbeprovidedbyconcerneddepartmentsfortheirrespectivedegreeprograms.

2.16. CreditTransferPolicy
a) Credittransfershallbeallowedonlyinspecialcircumstances.
b) Student shall submit an application for transfer of credit hours to concerned Head of
Departmentalongwithallnecessarydocumentssuchascontentsofthecourse(s),grades
earnedetc.
c) MinimumBgradewillbeacceptedforcredittransfer.
d) Head of Department shall evaluate the case in consultation with concerned faculty
members and shall forward the case along with comments/recommendations to the
committeecomprisingDeansofFacultiesandRegistrar.Decisionofthecommitteeshall
benotifiedbyRegistrar.
e) The credits transferred shall be counted towards the degree requirements of the
student. However, GPA of transferred credits shall not be counted towards the
calculationofCGPAandthetermTransferredshallbewrittenagainstthosesubject(s)
in which transfer of credits has been allowed. CGPA earned by the student shall be
consideredfordecidinganymeritposition/certificate/medal.
f) Course(s) transferred shall be placed in the same semester that student has spent at
someotheruniversityorasrecommendedbythedepartment.
g) The credit transferred shall be mentioned with the same course titles and grades as
studiedbyastudentonthetranscriptwithTransferredstatus.
h) Whenastudentwillbespendingasemesteratsomeotheruniversity,his/herresultshall
be declared with status Semester Freeze. In the final transcript, the status shall be
replacedbyExchangeSemester.
i) Maximum allowed credit transfer shall be 25% of the total degree credit hours for a
maximumoftwosemestersi.e.12.5%persemester.

2.17. ProxyAttendancePolicy
a) A student should submit leave application in case he/she is unable to attend the
class(es),ontheprescribedleaveproformatothedepartment.
b) Ifthestudentisabsent(leaveapplicationisnotsubmitted)andsomeotherstudentsign
his/herattendance,uptoRs.500perproxyshallbefinedtotheabsentstudent.
c) Incasethestudentwhosignedtheproxyattendanceisidentified,he/sheshallbefined
uptoRs.1000perproxyandalsoawarninglettershallbeissuedtohim/her.

2.18. Policy/ProcedureforIssuanceofTranscript/Degree
a) Provisionalresultsofexaminationsattheendofeachsemestershallbenotifiedbythe
ControllerofExaminationsandshallbeavailabletostudentsonline.
b) Final transcript shall be issued to students once they have completed all the
requirementsfortheawardofdegree.
c) Outstandingduesshouldbeclearedbeforestudentrequestforthefinaltranscript.

d) Degree shall be issued in the convocation. However, a student desirous of obtaining


degreebeforeconvocationshouldapplyontheprescribedform.
e) For issuance of duplicate transcript, a student has to submit an application stating the
reasonalongwiththeduplicatetranscriptfeetotheExaminationBranch.
f) Forissuanceofduplicatedegree,astudenthastosubmitanaffidavitnotorizedorsigned
by magistrate stating the reason on a stamp paper of Rs. 20/ along with duplicate
degreefee.SampleaffidavitisavailableintheExaminationBranch.

2.19. PolicyforCheatingCases
Cheating by any means may lead to strict disciplinary action. A formal policy is being
formulatedandwillbemadeavailable

2.20. CashAwardsforMSStudents
Inordertoenhancehealthycompetitionamongthestudents,cashawardsineachMS
programatPIEASaregivenonthebasisofacademicperformanceaftercompletionof
firstthreesemesters.Cashprizesareawardedtotopthreepositionholders(students)
whohaveobtainedanoverallCGPAof3ormoreonthescaleof4withnorepeatedor
failed course and have obtained 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in the respective degree
program.Thefollowingcashawardsareapproved:

2.21. Feestructure
a) LocalStudents
At present the fee structure for selfsponsored Pakistani students is attached as
Annexure II. It is subject to revision as and when felt necessary by the competent
authority.

b) ForeignStudents
AtpresentthefeestructureforforeignstudentsisattachedasAnnexureIV.Itissubject
torevisionasandwhenfeltnecessarybythecompetentauthority.

2.22. FeeRefundPolicy
a) Completerefundafterdeductionofadmissionchargesiftherequestforrefundismade
uptofirstweekofconveneofclasses.
b) 50%refund,iftherequestforrefundismadeinthe2ndweekofconveneofclasses.
c) Norefundafter2ndweek.

2.23. RemovalofDifficulties
An Interpretation Committee constituting of the following will be asked for the
interpretationofanyrule(s)ifneeded:
1. ProRector,PIEAS(Convener)
2. DeansofFaculties
3. ConcernedHeadofDepartment
4. Registrar
5. Controllerofexaminations(Secretary)

NOTE:Anyoftheabovementionedrulesmaybecancelledormodifiedornewrulesmaybe
addedwiththeapprovaloftheAcademicCommitteeontherecommendationsofthe
BoardofFaculties.

FEEPAYMENTSCHEDULE


Fullfeeshouldpreferablybepaidbythelastdayofthe2ndweekofeachSemester.

However,incaseofsomefinancialproblemsthefollowingschedulemaybefollowed.

For payment in installments, application through concerned Head of Department must
reachExaminationBranchduringthefirstweekofeachsemester.
Noextensioninthefeepaymentshallbegiven.
In case of nonpayment of semester dues, the semester result shall be held and student
shallnotbeabletoregisterinthenextsemesteruntilclearanceofduesalongwithfine/re
admissionfee.
FeedepositslipwillnotbeacceptedbyPIEASAccountsBranch/NationalBankofPakistan
(NBP), Nilore Branch, if a student tries to submit dues after the due date unless fine has
beenincludedinhis/herdepositslip.

intheformofbankdraft/payordermaybesubmittedtoPIEASAccountsBranch.
Miscellaneous Payments such as fine, degree/transcript fee or degree/transcript
verificationfee,paperrecheckingfeeetc.maybemadeinPIEASAccountsBranch.
AftersubmissionofdueseitheratNBPorPIEASAccountsBranch,thesignedandstamped
copies of fee deposit slips must be submitted to Accounts Branch and Examination
