The heating capacities for warm water 70/50 C and the air intake temperature tL1= +20 C as well as the cooling capacities for chilled water
6/12 C and air intake condition tL1=+27 C/46 % r.h. are specified in the tables on pages 6 through 61.
The capacities for other states can be determined using the correction factors on foldout page 1.2.

Limiting curves
If narrower frequency components or outstanding single tones ISO NR-Bewertungskurven
ISO NR evaluation curves
with high intensity peaks occur in a broader frequency range (e.g. 90
in a fan), the dB(A) specification (level) is not sufficient as it does
not sufficiently address the percieved noisiness. For this reason,
80
limiting curves (curves of equal perceived noisiness) are added
that also take the combination of frequencies of the noise into NR 80
account. 70
Although various noise-rating curves exist, NR curves (noise
in dB
70
rating) as per Fig. 30-2 have become accepted internationally. 60
in dB
NC curves (noise criteria) are now only used for noise rating in
pressure level
the USA, as per Fig. 30-3. 60
Schalldruckpegel
If the observance of a particular NR or NC curve is required for a 50
room, the measured sound pressure must not exceed this limiting
curve in any octave. 50
40
The total level across all eight octaves as per DIN is always
around 7 to 10 dB higher than the limiting curve value. In the case 40
Sound
of air treatment systems, the sound pressure level difference is 30
on average 5 dB(A) because the spectrum of these sounds does
30
not always reach the same limiting curve in all octaves. 20

The requirements of NR 30 or NC 28 for a unit must be observed.
The tabulated data on page 28 serves as a basis. In order to Fig. 30-2
identify the sound pressure level in the individual octaves, the
sound power values listed on page 28 should be entered under
size 2, capacity stage 1 and speed 2 in a table, see Fig. 30-1.
In order to maintain the sound pressure levels in the individual
octaves, the calculated value of 8.5 dB must be subtracted from NC evaluation curves
NC-Bewertungskurven
the sound power specifications in Fig. 30-1. The new values 90
attained can be entered in the nomograms Fig. 30-2 (NR) or Fig.
30-3 (NC).
80
The highest point in the NR evaluation is NR 29 (1000 Hz), and
in the NC evaluation NC 27 (1000 Hz).
The requirement of NR 30 (NR 28 is below NR 30) or NC 28 70
NC 70
(NC 27 is below NC 28) is thus maintained.

System description
Overview
MATRIX 2000
Drive-type valves The MATRIX 2000 control system supports all basic functions (heating / cooling) of the
On/off Modulating recirculation air Basic Geko. The controller can be used in the following system types:
2-pipe systems Heating only
2-pipe systems Cooling only
2-pipe systems Heating or cooling (change over)
4-pipe systems Heating and cooling
The 3-speed ventilator control occurs automatically depending on the set-point / actual
temperature deviation. The operator panel enables the speed to be specified manually
and the unit to be switched off (with frost protection). For the regulation of the heating
and/or cooling performance, valves with on/off or modulating behaviour can be
controlled with a supply voltage of 24 V or 230 VAC. The 4-pipe systems are an
exception; use is limited to on/off actuators here. MATRIX 2000 also enables the
monitoring of the fan motor via implemented thermocontacts with external leads as
well as control of the condensate water level in coolers with a condensate pump.
The OP21 operator panel enables the quick and easy adjustment of the set points
without more extensive previous knowledge. A limitation of the adjusting range for set-
point temperature and setting is possible through mechanical stops. The room
LEDs for temperature is recorded via a sensor that is integrated in the operator panel. If the
operation /
operator panel is unfavourably placed, e.g. next to the door, an external temperature
malfunction /
Normal / energy external sensor or return air sensor can be connected (not possible with change over systems).
saving mode System malfunctions are signaled as an accumulative error message via the red
Speed selector Set-point Malfunction LED. If energy saving mode is activated, this is indicated via the yellow
switch temperature LED that is integrated in the pushbutton.
In addition to enclosure IP20 (OP21 C), a moisture-proof IP54 operator panel variant
(OP21 I) is available, for example.
The connection in the unit takes place via plug-in type cage clamps. Electronics as well
as fans and valves (230 V) are protected separately via two micro-fuses on the power
print; a backup fuse of B 10 A is to be provided for the necessary protection of the line.
MATRIX 2000 can be used to control recirculation air single units as well as
recirculation air unit groups. Several groups can be combined to form one network with
up to 16 groups via the integrated GEA MATRIX.Net bus system. The combination
with the MATRIX 3000 controllers as well as the connection of global modules and
communications interfaces is thus also possible.

Different types of operator panels are available. The selection ranges from a simple

send
The cable connection is established via cage clamps. This enables the quick and easy
use of solid and flexible wires.
Holes are provided in the mounting plate so that the operator panel can be mounted
on a standard flush mount.
Direct installation on the wall (cables concealed or laid in a cavity wall) is also possible.
The operator panel can be mounted on the basic unit by means of installation kit ZE
OPC. In this case, an external room or return air temperature sensor is to be provided.
Fig. 45-1
Fig. 45-2
The 903.414 room temperature sensor or the 903.474 return air sensor replaces the room temperature sensor in the
MATRIX OP XXC control units.
The additional sensor will need to be installed if the control unit is installed in the Geko or is mounted in a bad location for
temperature recording.

Global modules
MATRIX.DI digital input module
The MATRIX.DI digital input module belongs to the global modules of the GEA MATRIX
control system and is used for receiving digital control signals. It thus enables the
control system to be influenced by external systems. The module can be integrated into
the MATRIX network at any point. A maximum of two MATRIX.DI modules may be
operated in the same network simultaneously.
The module has eight independent digital inputs that are controlled via potential-free
contacts. LEDs display the current input status. Commands entered via the DI module
have priority over the settings of the local operator panel. The following functions and
operating modes can be defined via the module:
HVAC mode (heating / cooling / automatic)
Normal / energy saving mode
Fan speed (1/2/3/4/5/auto/mute)
Activate mixed-air mode
Unit off with frost protection
Activate controller operating values
The module is shipped with a manufacturer's configuration. Different configurations can
be set via the MATRIX.PC service software. The function allocation of the inputs and
the respective allocation to the group(s) can be freely selected.

MATRIX.AI analogue input module
MATRIX.AI analogue input module belongs to the global modules of the MATRIX
control system and is used for receiving analogue actual and set-point values. It thus
enables the MATRIX control system to be coupled with external systems. The module
can be integrated into the MATRIX network at any point. A maximum of two MATRIX.AI
modules may be operated in the same network simultaneously.
The module has eight independent analogue inputs that can be controlled via
010 V / 2..10 V signals or charged with NTC sensors (10 kOhm / 25 C). Commands
entered via the AI module have priority over the settings of the local operator panel. The
following set-point and actual values can be defined or received via the module:
Actual values:
Room, exterior and inlet temperature
Fresh air humidity
Room air CO 2 content
Supply air channel pressure and flow rate
Exhaust air channel pressure and flow rate
Set-point values:
Room temperature, supply air temperature
Fresh air component
The module is shipped with a manufacturer's configuration. Different configurations can
be set via the MATRIX.PC service software. The allocation of the inputs and the
respective assignment to the group(s) can be freely selected. Additionally, the range of
the input voltage can be selected, and the measuring range of the sensor and a filter
value for signal balancing can be defined.
