1. Purpose:
This instruction is to ensure that all Tests and Visual Inspections are performed in a
controlled manner and acceptable to Manfuctureing specification, Customer Requirements
and controlling standard

2. Scope:
This instruction is applicable for Motor . which could be grouped as following :
- Owner ( Powerhouse , Client)
- Power Rating ( All Power Rating ).
- Motor Condition (New ,Used, in Services, After Maintenance activity)

3. Responsibility
Quality Control Engineer (As per job description)
The QC inspector shall be electrical engineer and suitably qualified to a recognized
international standard for the inspection, which undertakes and shall check the item or
component against the appropriate drawing, specification and/or code to ensure full
compliance.

4. INSTRUCTIONS:
4.1 Visual inspection:
4.1.1. Compare equipment nameplate data with drawings and specifications.
4.1.2 Inspect physical and mechanical condition:
Insulators, Supports, and Connectors :
Inspect insulators and conductor supports for signs of cracking, broken pieces
and other physical damage or deterioration.
Broken mounting holes or feet
Check the Earth Bolt and its place is present.

4.1.3 Perform a check of the bearings.


4.1.4 Verify that resistance temperature detector (RTD) circuits (if exist)
4.1.5 Check the cooling fan.
4.2 Insulation Resistance Test. (Megger Test):
Phase to Phase.
Line to Ground

4.3. NO Load Test:


4.3.1 Take Record for each (Voltage, Frequency, No Load Current, Bearing Temp.,
and R.P.M)
4.3.2 Verify the absence of unusual mechanical or electrical noise or signs of
overheating during initial test run
4.4. Load Test:
Take Record for each (Voltage, Frequency, Load Current, Bearing Temp., and R.P.M)

4.5. Vibration Test:


Take Record from front and back in 3 directions
