FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Advancing Commerce
in the New Year
Looking back at a year of exciting progress, the Boca Chamber
is committed to continued advancement in 2018. As the
cover reflects, we have been moving forward both on and off
the field this year. Florida Atlantic University football led by
Head Coach Lane Kiffin has paved the way for unprecedented
progress -- winning the Conference USA Championship and
drawing fans to our very own Cheribundy Tart Cherry Boca
Raton Bowl. In this thriving environment, the Boca Chamber is
more inspired than ever to deliver on our mission: to Promote
and Sustain Economic Prosperity in Boca Raton and South Palm
Beach County. Let's take a look at a few key advancements from
this past year, and more importantly, give you an inside look at
what is to come.

By definition, Advancing Commerce occurs as we increase the

activity of buying and selling goods and services. Our Chamber
works relentlessly to create and maintain an environment
where business can flourish. In the past two years alone, we
have helped the City of Boca Raton create and retain over 1500
jobs. The largest expansion to date was announced in 2017
when our loyal Chamber Member, Modernizing Medicine,
publicized their plan to add 838 new jobs in our city. Just Chair Ethel Isaacs Williams and President & CEO Troy McLellan
this year, the Chamber has welcomed 272 new businesses as
members, celebrated 54 ribbon cuttings and hosted 169 events
with the purpose of connecting members, instructing better "We deeply value our members and
business practices and ultimately advancing commerce! To read
more about our 2017 highlights, please refer to page 4. the businesses that make sustaining
economic prosperity possible."
With continued advancement, it's critical that we keep our
mission at the forefront and our members' best interests in
mind. To ensure we are creating the best business environment possible, our professional team and Chamber committee
members representing key business and community stakeholders, carefully assess issues the business community is facing.
Based on this feedback, we develop our Legislative Agenda with insight from our members, partners in the community, local
and state government and educational institutions. This agenda is our guide throughout the year as we advocate for your
business here at home and in Tallahassee. To read more about our Legislative Agenda, please see page 9.

Coming up, you won't want to miss two of our signature events. On Friday, February 23, we will recognize Barbara Cambia of
Lynn University as the 2018 DIAMOND Award recipient at the 12th Annual recognition luncheon. We will also recognize one of
our former YEA! students and growing local business owner, Skylar Mandell with the Florida Sea Turtle Company. On Saturday,
March 10th, don't miss our annual Community Cookout at the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. Bring your kids and spend
the day playing games, enjoying grilled food prepared by the Chamber and YMCA's Boards of Directors and having fun as we
unite our incredible community.

From Connecting Members, to Advancing Commerce, to Protecting Business and Enhancing the Community, the Boca
Chamber is your strongest business advocate. Whether we're hosting an event to connect your business to others or meeting
with elected officials in Tallahassee -- we are working for you so that we can advance commerce together. Along with our
leadership, the Chair of the Board, Ethel Isaacs Williams, we're excited for this new year ahead, and we look forward to growing
business in the community where we live, work, learn and play.

Moving Forward,

Troy M. McLellan, CCE, FCCP

MEET JIM DUNN

Q&A
Jim Dunn
Vice President & General Manager
JM Lexus

Committed & Engaged

Q: You have been immersed in the Boca Chamber community for some
time. From sponsorship to serving on the Board of Directors and now a
member of the Executive Committee – what keeps you engaged?

A: It’s a great honor for me to be on the Boca Raton Chamber of

Commerce's Executive Committee. The city of Boca Raton is one of the
finest communities anywhere. I love serving on the Boca Chamber Board
because of all the great people involved in this organization, not to
mention, so many of the valued customers JM Lexus enjoys are from "If it's not broke, break it.
Boca Raton.
Innovation is in our DNA."
In His Nature -Jim Dunn
Q: Why the automobile industry? Tell us how you’ve gotten to where
you are today.

A: Being a frustrated jock and a mediocre bass guitarist and singer, my next love was automobiles. Loving sports the way I
do and being competitive, it’s in my nature to have a desire to be the best.

Surrounded by Talent
Q: How does the success keep coming? What’s your secret?

A: I’ve been very fortunate in surrounding myself with the most talented people in the automotive industry, and following
the direction and legacy of our founder, Mr. Jim Moran.

Something to Remember
Q: What is your favorite memory as Vice President & General Manager of JM Lexus?

A: My favorite memory here at JM Lexus was two years ago when our team crossed the 10,000 new vehicle sales
threshold for Lexus (an all-time record) and created so much pride for all of our associates at JM Lexus.

Innovation is in Our DNA

Q: What is a memorable quote that has impacted your life and career?

A: “If it’s not broke, break it”. Innovation is in our DNA, and we continually challenge ourselves to make our processes and
guest experiences world-class.

Jim Dunn serves as the Vice President and General Manager of JM Lexus, managing 428 employees and bringing 45 years of experience to the
industry. JM Lexus has been the top Lexus dealer in the world for 25 straight years and celebrated a new sales record of more than 10,000 new
cars sold in 2015 alone. Dunn joined the Boca Chamber's Executive Committee for the 2017-2018 year, serving as Treasurer.

Through interviews, research, discussion and debate, we develop positions and

GOLDEN BELL

GOLDEN BELL
The Boca Chamber's
Education Foundation
The Golden Bell Education Foundation (Golden Bell) is in
its 27th year of operation. Golden Bell is a 501c3 nonprofit
organization that was created for the sole purpose of
supporting the Boca Raton Public School System, grades
K-12. Established by the Chamber’s Board of Directors,
the Foundation funds educational programs that promote
business skills.

Each year, we invite all Boca Raton public schools to submit

applications for a Golden Bell Grant. The grant cycle is open
from January through April. Funds are awarded to deserving
and innovative programs. We are pleased to announce that
nearly $85,000 was awarded to Boca Raton public schools
and scholarship programs in 2017! Since its inception in
1991, Golden Bell has granted $1.4 Million.

The success of our organization is achieved through

community support. Give the gift of education by donating
to Golden Bell.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

OUR LEADERS
Meet the Chamber's New Additions
to the Board of Directors

November marks the start of the Boca Chamber's new

fiscal year, and with the new year comes exciting changes.
This year, we welcomed seven members to the Boca
Chamber's Board of Directors who officially began their
term on November 1.

These men and women - combined with our existing 20

board members - represent the best and brightest in our
community. It is their combined knowledge and experience
that enables us to strengthen our mission - to promote
and sustain economic prosperity in Boca Raton and South
Palm Beach County. Their commitment and dedication
continues to make Boca Raton the premiere location to do
business - and the best place to live, work, learn and play.

I am proud to announce this year's newest board members.

Please see their photos and company affiliations listed to
the right.

2017 marked an extremely successful year under the

leadership of our Chair - Ethel Isaacs Williams, Senior Vice
President, Development and Public Affairs at Kaufman
Lynn Construction. We are fortunate and excited to have
Ethel serve a second term as Chair this year. In addition,
we welcome Jim Dunn (JM Lexus) onto the Executive
Committee as the Treasurer. Mohamed Abdalla has joined
the board to represent the Chamber's Professionals Under
40 (PULSE) Group.

Directors, please visit our website at:
