1.0 Introduction

When you name something, you give it power. C-COR focuses on two brand name areas to
support our "power" in the marketplace: the corporate identity and the individual product/
service brand names. The corporate identity is found in the C-COR name, logo, tag line,
and other associated messages, and signals the overall attractiveness, value, position, and
personality of the company to our key constituencies-customers, employees, investors,
partners, and the community-at-large. Product and service brand names, such as FlexNet,
naviCOR, lumaCOR, DV6000, ISM-Integrated Service Management solutions, and Worldbridge,
are used to distinguish our products and services from our competitors and evoke user
recognition and loyalty.

Corporate Marketing strives to create, reinforce, and expand company awareness by

developing a strong corporate identity and product/service brand image that differentiate
C-COR from the competition and position the company as a successful technology leader. To
this end, Corporate Marketing is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation,
and articulation to the outside world of the C-COR corporate identity and product/service
brands. Corporate Marketing is also responsible for ensuring that corporate identity and
product/service brand articulation is consistent across the company, providing a common
vision and understanding of the corporate identity and brands, and a common language for
talking about them.

Corporate Marketing is responsible for cultivating the C-COR corporate identity and
product/service brand image as follows:

• Corporate Marketing develops and implements corporate identity and product/service brand
standards and practices across all C-COR divisions, internal departments, and facilities.

• Corporate Marketing provides guidance to C-COR employees on corporate identity and

product/service brand standards and practices.

• With the support of the cross-corporate C-COR Branding Team, Corporate Marketing assists
in the development of product and/or service names to support the C-COR brand identity.

• Corporate Marketing assists in the development of corporate messages and assists C-COR
divisions and internal departments in message development that supports corporate
themes.

The Corporate Identity and Branding Standards Manual produced and distributed by
Corporate Marketing is designed as an important employee tool to ensure that a consistent
corporate image is projected in building recognition, trust, credibility, and loyalty among all
our constituencies. We all play a role in representing C-COR. Ensuring that the company
sounds like the same company — always and everywhere — is, therefore, everyone's job.
When we at C-COR speak with one voice, our constituencies are more likely to hear what we
have to say.

Questions regarding the corporate standards defined in the sections that follow should be directed to:
Sally Thiel, Director of Corporate Marketing.

2.1 Corporate Name Usage

C-COR.net Corp. is the legal, trademarked name for the company and is to be
used only on legal documents when the full corporate name is required (in
either handwritten or typed form).

The swoosh and C-COR comprise the company logo, which is a customized
piece of artwork used to establish and maintain consistent and compelling
awareness in the marketplace.

C-COR is to be used in all other text applications as well as in verbal

communications when referring to the company. The C-COR name is
considered one unit and shall not be separated between lines of text.

2.2 Corporate SIC and NAICS Codes

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) has replaced the U.S. Standard Industrial

2.4 Corporate Logo

2.4.1 Visual Identity

The C-COR logo integrates a symbol (the swoosh) and the corporate name into one solid mark with a
leading-edge, energetic feel.

The swoosh symbolizes, on a high level, communications and networks, and, on a more specific
level, the convergence of voice, video, and data. For today’s C-COR, the swoosh also represents the
company’s three divisions — BCP, BMS, and BNS — working together for the common objective of
network integrity. The varied weight of the swoosh provides a feel of movement.

The color red represents energy and emotion and thus a strong, personal relationship with our
customers. The colors also allow the corporate symbol to stand out in comparison to our competitors.

The color blue represents cool, calm, composed, and controlled and relates to a high-tech and crisp
corporate feel.

The clean, customized font supports the characteristics of being unique, supportive, and sensible,
while reinforcing integrity.

The bold "C-COR" equates to quality, strength, and power.

2.4.2 Usage
Logo Availability
To ensure that proper logos are consistently applied, thus preserving the integrity of the C-COR
corporate identity, always use the electronic logo files provided by Corporate Marketing. Electronic
versions of the C-COR logo (with and without the corporate tagline) are available on CDs.
Alternatively, logo files and download instructions for the files are also available on the Corporate
Marketing Intranet Site (under the site's menu option, "Corporate Standards").

General Logo Usage Guidelines

Our logo is the primary element that represents the C-COR corporate identity image, and, as such, the
components of the logo shall always be presented with absolute readability. In addition, to maintain a
consistent presentation of the C-COR identity:

• The C-COR logo shall be treated as one unit whose individual elements shall not be separated.
• The color arrangements of the logo shall not be switched, manipulated, or changed in any way
from the files provided.
• The proportions of the "swoosh" in relation to the "name" shall remain as illustrated and as
provided in the electronic version of the logo distributed by Corporate Marketing.
• The “swoosh” may be used as a separate graphic element only if the full logo appears
on the same page. (An exception is Second Page Letterhead, Section 2.7)
• Corporate-approved product, services, and technology marks can be used in order to differentiate
offerings to customers and specific markets. Marks and color palettes will be determined within the
framework of the corporate branding architecture established by the cross-divisional, cross-
functional branding team.

The primary area of noninterference for text should be no less than the width of the “O” in “C-COR”,
as shown below.

No titles or headlines should be within close proximity of the C-COR logo, except the corporate
