Topic: Migrant Labor Exploitation and Human Trafficking in the Middle East

Concerning, the mistreatment of migrant laborers and human trafficking in the


Middle East,

Bearing in mind, the many of these migrant labors flee their motherland, and make
up a large population in the Middle Eastern countries,

Further recalling, The Amnesty International’s failed efforts to establish an office in


the Middle East,

Keeping in mind, the long hours of labor they dedicate in exchange for low wages,

Declaring, without the contribution of migrant labor, the output of goods and
services would decrease substantially

Emphasizing, the impact these migrant laborers have on our economy, and the
collapse it will suffer from, without them,

Noting with deep concern, the 1,200 deaths of migrant workers in Qatar, due to their
hazardous working conditions,

1) Requests that sponsors sign a contract that highlights, the privileges the
laborers will receive, such as:
a) Shelter,
b) Food and water,
c) Clothes,
d) Sanitary products;
2) Demands that certain hours a day are assigned as rest hours for these
workers;
a) Depending on their working environment, and working conditions,
3) Encourages the use of mass communication to raise awareness upon this
issue:
a) Emphasizes and advocates the struggles that the majority of these
migrant laborers go through to survive;
4) Requests establishing an organization by the name of Migrant Laborers
Regulation Regime (MLRR), that will:
a) Stop violence against migrant workers
b) Provide migrant workers with basic human rights, they are entitled to
c) Regulate the treatment of these migrant workers, in their work place,
by:
i) Enforcing laws against the abuse of these migrant workers
ii) Banning any type of abuse such as but not limited to: emotional,
verbal, physical, and sexual;
iii) Regular inspections that examine laborers treatment, working
conditions, and that their basic privileges will be met,

5) Expresses its hope in allowing both the sponsor and migrant worker to sign
and abide by a contract that states:
a) That a migrant worker will not commit any crime or abuse that will harm
the sponsor:
i) By abiding this statement the migrant worker has full authority on
their passport and civil ID, but when failing to do so will face
consequences that withdraw these privileges;

6) Calls upon nations to enforce laws that restrict migrant workers in certain
sectors of work such as but not limited to:
a) Domestic,
b) Agricultural,
c) Governmental,
d) Public facilities.
