Understanding the working of an economy – Country XXX as the Case Study Part 1 (5 Marks) This part is basically a historical narration of the country under study – hence the following sub-points: 1. Profile the core competence of the country, by bringing out its: a. natural endowment (via its geography, topography and demography) b. the impact of capital flows . 2. Discuss the various historical landmarks that this economy has to go through in order to strengthen and / or shift from one competence towards another. 3. Trace the NIGR pattern of this economy, by engaging with the sectoral contributions, the rates of the NIGR and the influence of foreign trade on this NI build-up. In this sub-section track the cyclical movements of this economy. Part 2 (10 Marks) 1. This part should be a critique of the following policies of that impact the NIGR, the inflation rates and the rate of investments of this economy: a. Significant and routine Fiscal measures undertaken by this economy b. Major Monetary Policy decisions undertaken by the concerned authority. c. The commercial strategies adopted by this economy to stay afloat / soar ahead / to shift out of an adverse / awkward Balance of Payment situation. d. The overall trajectory of this economy wrt employment generation. Part 3 (5 Marks) Academic take-aways: 1. Recommendations made in order to maintain and / or speed up the Net Depreciation process. 2. Growth in Academic astuteness 3. Sharpening of analytical capacities (textually as well as data-based). Instructions: 1. Not more than 3000 words 2. A bibliography would be appreciated. 3. The Appendix (if it exists) must be connected to the main body of the essay. 4. Citations from bibliographical material through the text will be appreciated. 5.
