of the fast-changing electric power industry
What is IEEE Power
Engineering Society?

The IEEE Power Engineering Society is a

worldwide, non-profit association of 24,000
women and men engaged in electric power
engineering. PES members are involved in the
planning, research, development, construction,
installation, and operation of equipment and
systems for the safe, reliable, and economic
generation, transmission, distribution,
measurement, and control of electric energy.

The Power Engineering Society provides the

world’s largest forum for sharing the latest in
technological developments in the electric power
industry, for developing standards that guide
the development and construction of equipment
and systems, and for educating members of
the industry and the general public. Members
of the Power Engineering Society are leaders
in this field, and they — and their employers —
derive substantial benefits from involvement
with this unique and outstanding association.
So, what is in it for you?

John W. Estey • President
IEEE Power Engineering Society

Dear Power Industry Professional:

Benefits for members . . . Benefits for employers . . . a collection of compelling

reasons why the IEEE Power Engineering Society has the largest and most diverse
membership of professionals in the electric power industry. In fact, more than
20,000 power engineering professionals on six continents are already taking
advantage of the many benefits of belonging to PES.

The enclosed booklet describes the importance of PES membership for all electric
power professionals. And, because employer support is so crucial to member
participation in IEEE PES, it also explains the many benefits that employers
receive from their employees’ membership and participation in the Society.

If you are a professional in the electric power industry and not a member, find out
how you and your company can benefit when power engineering professionals
belong to PES. Then, give serious consideration to joining so you, too, can have
the technical and professional edge realized by thousands of your peers around
the world. And, if you are in a leadership position within your organization,
consider the benefits your organization can obtain through employee membership
and encourage your employees to join.

We look forward to welcoming you as a member or supporter of the IEEE Power

Engineering Society.

Sincerely,

John Estey

PS: If you are already a PES member, please pass the booklet along to a
colleague who could benefit by joining.
