Part I

This part of research is about the starting point of the subject of study that is
considered as Architecture. It describes when and how this started to influence in
the human race. The author of this work shows the conditions of the beginning all
the way through by a history time-line. This resource shows the history of
Architecture into several smaller categories in order to help you achieve a greater
understanding of the evolutionary processes that have made Architecture what it is
today.

Architecture

 Research questions:

1) Is it necessary the architecture?

2) Does beauty influence the usefulness of structures?
3) How has the architecture evolved?

 Hypothesis:

Architecture is considered an art, however, is it necessary? Could it make

our lives easier not to consider beauty when building buildings?
Introduction

Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and
constructing buildings or any other structures. Architectural works, in the material
form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art.
Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural
achievements.
The term architecture is also used metaphorically to refer to the design of
organizations and other abstract concepts. See glossary of architecture.

According to Bruno Zevi (1948) The architecture does not derive from a
sum of lengths, widths and heights of the constructive elements that surround the
space, but rather it flows properly from the emptiness, from the space involved,
from the interior space, in which men die and live.

Leon Battista Alberti: (1452?). […the architect will be the one who with a
method and a determined procedure and worthy of admiration has studied the way
of projecting in theory and also of carrying out in practice any work that, from the
displacement of the weights and the union and the assembly of the bodies, is
adapted, in a most beautiful way, to the most typical needs of human beings.
(Proem). The art of construction as a whole consists of the layout and its
materialization (...) the layout will be a determined and uniform writing, conceived
in the abstract, made on the basis of lines and angles and carried out by a mind
and an intelligence cultured]

Carlo Lodoli (1786) Architecture is an intellectual and practical science

aimed at rationally establishing the proper use and proportions of artifacts and to
know with experience the nature of the materials that compose them.
……………………………

Nikolaus Pevsner: (1945) A bicycle shed is a building; the cathedral of

Lincoln, a work of architecture (...) the term architecture applies only to buildings
designed according to an aesthetic appearance.

Louis Kahn (1967) First of all I must say that architecture does not exist.
There is a work of architecture. And a work of architecture is an offer to
architecture in the hope that this work can become part of the treasure of
architecture. Not all buildings are architecture (...) The program that is received and
the architectural translation that is given must come from the spirit of man and not
from material instructions.

According to the history time-line, (see appendix 1) the author remark some
fragment of the history that shows evolutionary processes, such as:
1452: It is a process that seeks to transcend through beauty

1786: exploit the beauty of the materials to obtain a beautiful result

1801-3: the beauty of architecture increases the value of the building

1967: the building becomes a treasure for its beauty

In conclusion the author of this research thinks

In conclusion it provides pleasure to whoever can see it, the beauty of its existence
makes its value increase in all aspects, although its construction entails a
challenge that is not always overcome when putting the building into use
PART 2

This part of research is about the correlation of subject of study Architecture and
the Branches of Science. The author of this research describes the way to thin
his/her scope in a particular branch of science. He would like to track when doing
his project. He is showing how his subject of study is interconnected into the major
disciplines to give a point of return. In addition, this science project should
demonstrate the performance and the answer of the hypothesis. A long with some
background research for showing the perception of the subject of study in the
world, Latin America, Mexico, Puebla and his community. The important task in this
science project display should accomplish to communicate the author’s journey
took while doing his project and show off the results of work.

Architecture can be found in several places in the world as a search for

beauty, it has existed since humans seek to make art in buildings beyond just
painting or sculpture. It has accompanied humanity for years, and it has evolved
during all that time, however, it does not do the same in all places. It is very
diverse, for that reason it is impossible to make a definition that manages to cover
all that it means, for that reason, it is an art. Now the architecture has some
branches that are already cataloged and exploited so they can be reproduced all
over the world, however, it is always waiting for new designs and ideas to renew all
this beautiful art once again

According to Thomas Dritalov is something that cannot be in the vacuum,

needs various processes so that it can be useful to society

Vazquez (1953) said that in Greece it was as important as breathing

Sound (2001). To look at what it means we must see from when it is

practiced as art, we must look for the most primitive beauty to know where all this
idea of beauty comes from. Looking for history we discover that we can not live
without looking for something beautiful, maybe architecture is the result of our
ambition for aesthetics

By the other side, Makoto Shinkai (2010) affirms that it can be an object to
obtain money; we can take advantage of the desire of the people to look for the
benefit. It has always been a way to obtain money, and to generate work. a good
economy is reflected in the buildings of their buildings

In France, Louis Durand (2011) Architecture advances human potential.

supports all sciences to feel comfortable wherever they are
In Latin Jonathan Freeny (2008) says that architecture can also help the
social infrastructure, not only with its beauty, but also, taking advantage of the
resources of the environment to improve the productivity of buildings

In Mexico Calixto García (2016) Architecture makes us sensitive to art, since

it is a daily way of appreciating beauty

In Puebla Luis Fernando (2009) says that architecture is a reflection of the

culture of a place

In conclusion, the architecture can be useful to clarify a cultural panorama. It is an

object of study and it is something that artistically is enriching. The existence of
architecture makes us more sensitive to art, makes us more educated and wise
people. In Latin America, architecture plays a very important role since it tells us
how our ancestors lived and how society evolved to what it is today.
Part III

This last part of the research shows the survey applied in this scholar community.
This was considered the thirty percentage of each sector of the school, such as
teachers, students and staff. The results show the midfield of research where the
sectors of this school state the point of view of the subject of study. The author
considers pondering the most important perspective from different sectors.

First of all, the author thinks describing the research instrument for the
survey so as to show what the supporting records in the questions to inform his
general conclusion.

The reason to use this survey was to show everybody how the subject of the
study is considered in this school. See appendix 3 (attached document section).

Teachers’ opinion

The Architecture is necessary?

22%
33% no asnwer
it's necessary
it's not necessary

45%

Most of the professors answered the survey with expected results (see appendix
1). 45% of teachers surveyed said that architecture is necessary, 33% answered
and 22% said it was not necessary
Does beauty influence the
usefulness of structures?

21%
yes
no

79%

It seems that most teachers agree that beauty affects the productivity of a
structure. Some professors argued that it could give some problems in constructive
processes, price increases or impossible designs.
Students’ opinion

The Architecture is necessary?

27%
yes
no

73%

Almost all students believe that architecture is necessary. Although some do not
think so, the difference of thought may be the education they have had or a poor
response to the survey

Does beauty influence the

usefulness of structures?

9% 5%
no asnwer
yes
no

86%

We can see how the students have different opinions from the teachers. Most
believe that the structure is modified when it comes to making beautiful. a small
percentage believe otherwise. And the rest did not answer
School staff’s opinion

1. they believe that the architecture is necessary 80%

2. they believe that de architecture is not necessary 20%
3. they consider that the structure of the building is most 35%
productive if it was not beautiful
4. they consider that the structure of building is most 65%
productive because is beautiful

The staff believes that architecture is important, it may be because they need to
raise awareness among students about the importance of art in buildings. those
who did not think the same could be because they have a more realistic stance
towards society

In conclusion, I believe that architecture can do wonderful works; however, you

lose several things that can only give you a simple design. Architecture is only an
art, but for today's society, it seems not to interest him. Nowadays, people's minds
are changing, and more people are beginning to believe that beauty can be
sacrificed for productivity

In the place in which the interviews are conducted, the belief that architecture is
indispensable is decreasing every time. It seems that a beautiful building does not
matter so much anymore, what we are looking for now is simplicity and practicality.
It is not that the people are insensitive; rather, it means that the current priorities
are different since we have another rhythm of life. It is not possible to generate all
results superficially, but we can have an idea of the current thinking of young
people

General conclusion

In this part of the research the authors retakes his perspective from each part. He
states analyzing the results and balances the advantages and disadvantages from
consequences of the study. Also, suggest further information for new researchers
on this subject of study.

In the first part of the investigation, we can see the opinion of several authors from
different times. The term and the definition of architecture has changed after a long
time. In the second part of the investigation, we can see the current opinion of
several authors and how it is taken by the general public.in the third part we
observe the interviews, it is a closer vision about the concept of architecture in
society.
Finally the author of this research thinks that sharing his/her findings to others
researchers it is important ant that to be very objective because of several
information that makes to loose in a sea of knowledge.
