Pagelayout editor − overview
The pagelayout editor is a tool which allows you to create new pagelayouts or edit existing
pagelayouts.
After saving a new pagelayout, it is stored in the corresponding directory and can be selected as
default pagelayout for text, graphic or 'Optimized Printing' in the dialog 'Options'.
The pagelayout editor is called choosing the menu item 'Pagelayout Editor' in the submenu 'Extras'.

General features of the pagelayout editor
In the pagelayout editor you can use several features which are necessary for the general handling
of objects.
• Marking several objects by clicking each object while keeping the <SHIFT> key pressed.
Note: If you have overlapping objects in the pagelayout editor and you want to mark only one of
them, mark the first one and press the key <TAB> to switch to the next object.
• Draw a rectangle surrounding the area which you want to mark by moving the mouse.
Note: Some objects are greater than their visible area. That is why you should always draw the
rectangle a bit larger than the visible area of the objects to be marked.

• Mark the object(s) to be moved. If you want to move only one object, there is no need to
mark it.

Editing the pagelayout
In the pagelayout editor you can use several features for editing and designing your pagelayout.
This means inserting and arranging objects in the pagelayout.
You can start editing immediately this pagelayout and saving it after editing using the menu item
'Save as...' in the pagelayouter submenu 'File'.

Editing the pagelayout Defining the source area
The dialog 'Paper orientation' appears if you choose the menu item 'Paper orientation' in the
submenu 'Layout'. The dialog is also used to define the printable area of your pagelayout if you
want to work with coordinates.
Using this dialog all objects you have already inserted in the pagelayout will be deleted. There is no
possibility of restoring them.
The fields of the dialog 'Paper Orientation' have the following meanings:
If you are going to insert new elements on your pagelayout, the coordinates of the cursor position
are shown in the status bar.
How to proceed:
How to proceed:
• Press the left mouse button and keep it pressed at the point where you want to set a
corner of the source area.
• Move the mouse until the displayed rectangle has the desired source area size.

Editing the pagelayout Changing the properties of a source area
The dialog 'Settings source area' appears if you choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the
context menu of the source area of your pagelayout.
Top/Left specifies the position of the top left corner of the source area.
Width specifies the width of the source area.
Height specifies the height of the source area.
Lines indicates the number of zoomed lines, when zooming textual worksheets.
Zoom in factor specifies the zoom in factor for graphic worksheets.
Width of area specifies the width of the area collecting variables for the lateral area for cross
references in graphic worksheets.
The values for the height and width of the source area correspond to the size of the worksheet. So
if your worksheet measures 301 x 301 and you enter the value 301 for the width and height and the
zoom in factor 1, the content of the worksheet is printed in the scale 1:1. If the worksheet is greater
than your source area you can use the zoom in factor to minimize the objects so that they fit in the
source area.
How to proceed:
• Choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the context menu of the source area.
The dialog 'Settings source area' appears (see table shown above).
• Press the left mouse button and keep it pressed at the point where you want to set a
corner of the rectangle.

• Choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the context menu of the rectangle.
The dialog 'Settings Rectangle' appears.
The fields of the dialog 'Settings Rectangle' have the following meanings:
Top/Left specifies the position of the top left corner of your rectangle.
Width specifies the width of your rectangle.
Height specifies the height of your rectangle.
Color specifies the color of the rectangle line.
Width specifies the width of the rectangle line in points.
Styles specifies if the rectangle line is a normal, a dashed or a dotted line.
• Press the left mouse button and keep it pressed at the point where you want to start your
line.
• Move the mouse to the point where you want to end your line.
• Choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the context menu of the line.
The dialog 'Settings Line' appears.
The fields of the dialog 'Settings Line' have the following meanings:
Position indicates the x and y coordinates of the starting and the ending point of the line.

• Click at the position where you want to insert the text element.
The dialog 'Settings Text' appears.
• Enter the text string you want to insert in the field 'Fixed text:'.
• If desired, change the values for the position of the text element.
• Click the button 'Font...' if you want to change the font of the text element.
• Choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the context menu of the text element.
The dialog 'Settings Text' appears.
The fields of the dialog 'Settings Text' have the following meaning:

Note: The path of the bitmap is a fixed path. If you copy your bitmaps into another directory you
should first delete the bitmap in your pagelayout and then reinsert it. If you store your bitmap in the
default pagelayouter directory the system corrects the path automatically.
• Draw a rectangle.
• Choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the context menu of the bitmap.
The dialog 'Settings Bitmap' appears.
The fields of the dialog 'Settings Bitmap' have the following meanings:
Top/Left specifies the position of the top left corner of the bitmap.
Width specifies the width of the bitmap.
Height specifies the height of the bitmap.
System items are e.g. the printing time and date, page numbers or project name. After inserting a
system item, the item is represented by a placeholder in the pagelayout and you can use preview
to display them.

• Click at the position where you want to insert the environment item.
The dialog 'Settings Environment Text' appears.
• Click the button 'Font...' if you want to change the font of the environment item.
• Choose the menu item 'Object Properties...' in the context menu of the item.
The dialog 'Settings Environment Text' appears.
• Enter new values for the position of the item if you want.
System items
The following systems items are available and can be selected in the dialog 'Settings Environment
Text'.
DATE The environment item 'DATE' is a place holder for the printing date. The date
format depends on the country settings.
PAGE The environment item 'PAGE' is a place holder for a page number.
POU The environment item 'POU' is a place holder for the name of the POU.
PROJECT The environment item 'PROJECT' is a place holder for the project name.
SOURCE The environment item 'SOURCE' is the path to the file of the source, e.g. the file of
the worksheet with the code body.
TIME The environment item 'TIME' is a place holder for the printing time. The time format
depends on the country settings.

Editing the pagelayout Dialog 'Settings Environment Text'
The dialog 'Settings Environment Text' appears if you click on the icon 'Environment items' in the
toolbar and then into the editing field. It is used to choose system items such as the date, page
number or to change their properties.
