Dragon Ball R&R takes place between the end of the Majin Buu saga and the start

of Dragon
Ball Super. In those four years, there are many adventures that the children of Goku, Raditz
and Vegeta get into. This is about them and the potential character development that may
ensue.
Goten, Trunks and Ranch show off their power, their personalities and their potential in a
time where the only major peril to Earth is if they’re grounded or not!
Get ready for some slice-of-life action with a mixture of old and new characters based
around the works of Akira Toriyama.
Dragon Ball R&R will be made up of 10-minute audio dramas with self-contained stories
concerning Ranch, Trunks and Goten primarily. Other characters will be showcased as the
series progresses as well as being side characters. However, the focus is on the kids due to
popular demand during the ‘What If Raditz Turned Good?’ series of videos on the MasakoX
channel.

This audition slate will be the first of a few to cast most of the minor characters. This first
one will be used to establish the main cast. Full instructions of how to submit auditions can
be found at the end of this document.

IMPORTANT: Please only audition if you can commit to a long-term production. Recording
shall be undertaken via online direction over either Discord or Skype.
ALL MAJOR CHARACTERS will have a power-up scream at some point as well as fighting
foley. Please confirm in your email that you can perform this task.
 Ranch (F)
Age: 9
Cool, polite and slightly cynical
Ranch is the daughter of the Saiyan Raditz and the human Launch. She is their first-born
child and the most-skilled fighter out of the three half-Saiyan children due to her more
collected composure. However, she has a hard time opening up to most people due to her
standoffish nature she inherited from her father. She has a close affinity with her family
though and has tremendous respect for her uncle, Goku. She also has a crush on Trunks
which at this point in the story is relatively new. She is the main character of the story.
Note: Expect a LOT of lines!
1 – [bright, respectful] “Yes, Uncle Goku. I understand! I will do my best!”
2 - [assured, calm] “Trunks. It doesn’t matter what we are. The most important thing is that
we are strong – together.”
3 – [annoyed, angry] “Seriously, calm down! We have to focus here. Urgh! Boys…”
4 – [cynical] “Let me guess. You two are stronger than me because I’m a girl, right?”
 Trunks (M)
Age: 8
Cocky, spoilt, determined
Trunks is the son of Vegeta and Bulma and another half-Saiyan. He is a very powerful child
but is also very conceited and spoilt given his lavish upbringing as the heir to the Capsule
Corporation. He has inherited his father’s potential and his mother’s smarts, but he rarely is
able to combine the two. He has a crush on Ranch which he somewhat is conflicted about.
Note: Expect a LOT of lines!
1 – [whiny, spoilt] “Aw, come on! Can’t we just get on with this already? I’m bored!”
2 - [confident] “What’s the matter? Can’t keep up, Ranch? Afraid I might be too strong for
ya?”
3 – [stubborn, reluctant] “But…I…*sigh* I guess so. We do make a pretty good team.”
4 – [happy] “Alright! Satan Land is so cool! I’m gonna win and we’re gonna go on so many
rides until we throw up! Haha. It’s gonna be great.”
 Goten (M)
Age: 7
Chilled, happy, lacking in confidence
Goten is the brother of Gohan and the second child of Goku and Chi-Chi. In this telling of the
Dragon Ball story, he is more composed and assured of his personality in comparison to the
original; however, he still has some way to go. He is very close with his cousin Ranch and is
best friends with Trunks.
Note: Expect a LOT of lines!
1 – [nervous] “Yo---you really think I can do it? Can we pull it off, Ranch?”
2 - [confident] “We did it! Haha! That was great. We showed him, didn’t we?”
3 – [sad] “I don’t think I’m good enough. Gohan’s so strong and…I’m not. Plus, what will
Mom think? She doesn’t want me to be like Dad but I wanna! Why can’t I be myself?”
4 – [happy] “OK! I’m in. Let’s do it!”
 Raditz (M)
Age: 48(?)
Cautious, proud and calmer than Goku
Raditz is the elder brother of Goku. He is much more attuned to his Saiyan heritage than his
brother due to his greater age and experience on the battlefield. He is more cautious but
has relaxed considerably since his debut at the start of Dragon Ball Z. However, he is more
careful in planning and is always supporting Goku’s reckless abandon saving him on
numerous occasions.

1 – [proud] “Of course! Her power is the mark of a true Saiyan elite! Can’t you see it,
Kakarot? She is far more powerful than Vegeta’s runt! *aside* No offense, Trunks…”
2 - [thinking] “Remarkable! The fusion dance can do that? Ranch and Trunks are so strong as
one. Perhaps if Kakarot and I…”
3 – [serious] “That’s enough, you three. You need to understand the importance of thinking
things out. You don’t want to be like Kakarot over here and go blundering in to battle now
would you”
4 – [annoyed] “Kakarot, concentrate! We’re trying to be judging here, not fighting! Can you
seriously think of nothing else?!”
 Launch (F)
Age: 42
Good: Maternal, sweet and assuring
Bad: Aggressive, loud and dangerous
Launch is the wife of Raditz and the mother of Ranch, Daikon and Mooli. She has the split
personality she had in the original Dragon Ball series but since settling down with Raditz, her
changes happen less frequently. However, they still occur and when they do, she mostly
spends time psyching her kids up into being tough and spending time in the city. Most of the
time, she acts as the anchor for the family but is fully content with the stability she strived
for.
Note: The actor must be able to pull off both aspects of Launch’s personality.

1 – [GOOD - doting] “Raditz, darling. Ranch is more than capable of taking care of herself.
Besides, I think Trunks and her make a cute couple, hehe!”
2 - [GOOD - supportive] “Ranch. It’s OK. Gohan will come visit, I’m sure of it. He’s always
here helping Chi-Chi; such a nice boy.”
3 – [BAD – riled up] “What are you doing moping like that, Ranch? You’re a freakin’ Super
Saiyan! I swear you get that from me, totally! RADITZ! Get over here and fight your
daughter! NOW!”
4 – [BAD – impressed] “Heh. Fusion looks kinda sweet. Wonder what would happen if Chi-
Chi and I fused? Yeah! We’d kick ass and show those Saiyans a thing or two!”
 Chi-Chi (F)
Age: 37
Strict, considerate and maternal
Chi-Chi is the mother of Goten and Gohan. During the majority of Dragon Ball Z, she was
uptight and dead-set on teaching her children to be academics. However, after Goku’s
return and Gohan’s success in school and love life, she has greatly relaxed and become more
like her teenage self, giving Goten much less hassle when it comes to studying.

1 – [stern, then relaxed] “Goten! Where do you think you’re goin---*sigh* Just. Just be
careful, OK?”
2 - [talking to Launch calmly] “I’m so glad Ranch and Goten get along. Goten’s really missed
having his older brother around since he moved to the city. It’s good for him to have
someone his age around here that doesn’t want to fight all the time!”
3 – [serious] “Goku. There’s more to life about fighting. Can we go one day without talking
about it? Remember the fun we had when we were young? I want that. For us.”
 Bulma (F)
Age: 41
Smart, strong-willed, frustrated
Bulma is the mother of Trunks and the head of Capsule Corporation. She is extremely
intelligent but quick to anger when pushed by either challenging situations or the tantrums
of Trunks. Having found her talent to be that in engineering, she is mostly confident in her
ability and has very few worries other than ensuring that her family is safe and secure.

1 – [motherly, embarrassing] “Go, Trunks! You can do it! You’re gonna be great.”
2 - [angry, over the top] “Trunks! You can’t just go around offering our suite like that all the
time, even if it’s our friends. You have no idea what I had to do to get that…*nervous,
second-guessing* nor will you!”
3 – [impressed, then motherly] “Ranch is something else! She and Trunks make a good team
although it’s weird seeing them fuse together. They look so cute though!”
 Vegeta (M)
Age: 42
Proud, frustrated and strong
Vegeta is the father of Trunks and the prince of all Saiyans. Unlike in the original series, this
Vegeta is a lot more frustrated. However, he is mostly the same personality albeit a bit more
reclusive. Extremely proud and confident about his power and the Saiyan race, he mostly
spends time training and sparring with Trunks. At this time in the story, he has bested Raditz
as Majin Vegeta and therefore is assured about his status.

1 – [dismissive] “Hah! As if I’d be near that clown Raditz. He’s a weakling and he knows it!”
2 - [thinking] “Fusion? What an absurd technique. Like I’d be seen doing that ridiculous
dance and fusing with Kakarot!”
3 – [lecturing, shouting] “Trunks! What’s the matter with you? Your mind’s wandering.
Concentrate!”
 Guidelines

1. To submit auditions, send lines to masakomailbag@gmail.com with the

subject ‘Dragon Ball R&R – Your Name’. Make it clear who you’re
auditioning for in the email.
2. Record lines in .mp3/.wav format and label each line ‘Your Name –
Character Name – Line# -- Take#’. Maximum of three takes for each line.
Zip all your lines up, please.
3. Initially, these roles are unpaid. However, if the series continues, the
addition of payment will be considered.
4. Feel free to send resume and demo reel if you have one.
5. Deadline is February 25th, 2018 at 11:59 PM PST.
6. If there are tons of auditions, we reserve the right to have multiple
rounds.
7. On the opposite side, if we don’t find what we’re looking for in a
character, we reserve the right to scout for an appropriate voice actor.
