Done with my interview with Katie Dunn. It was a 32 mins conversation. Since I was giving crisp and
to-the-point answers, she asked me a lot of questions. Some (I do not remember 1-2 questions) of
them are-

1) Walk through my resume.

2) She wanted to know more about my time I was in US for work.
3) My career goals
4) How does UNC fit into those goals.
5) Do I work in team? and if yes, what are my roles in that team?
6) What are the challenges you face while working in a team?
7) What do you think makes a successful team?
8) If you could change one thing from undergrad to present, what would it be?
(I told that I could have taken up some course in Physics, as I love Physics)
9) Why Computer Science? (I am a computer science graduate)
10) In your professional life, what is one thing that you want to improve, and what have you done
for it?
11) What do you do in your spare time?
12) How do you take care of work-ethics at John Deere? (I did not understand the question well, so
was not able to answer it properly)

Then, Any questions that I may have. I asked 2 questions, one professional and one non-professional.

Over all it was less of a conversation and more of a ques-ans session. She told me in the beginning that
we have only 30 mins. Over all she was nice and did not grill me too much

I had my skype interview with an assistant director yesterday.

1. Walk me through your resume.
2. What are the challenges that you have faced at work
3. Why MBA? Why UNC?
4. Long term & short term goals
5. Extra curricular activities.

Overall it was a good interview, the interviewer made me feel comfortable.

Why UNC K-F?, "why an MBA?", "why an MBA now?", "where do you see yourself in 5 years? In
15?".
I'd suggest you find 2 or 3 things that really draw you to the school and be ready to talk about those.

I had a Skype interview on the 29th October. My interviewer was

John Hughes, Assistant Director of Admission, UNC KF. It was a very standard interview and he gave
a lot of insights into the program itself, just after the interview. He does it in a very friendly and
interactive manner, makes you have a frank conversation with him and no questions that really put
you on the spot. He has been a CEO and an entrepreneur himself.

You can find more about interview style etc here: kenan-flagler-unc-class-of-2016-calling-all-

Had my interview tonight at 7PM; actually just finished up about a half hour ago.

Interviewer was John Hughes, a very cordial and welcoming man who made me feel at ease. He
initiated the call about 5 min early, as I was already online with Skype and sitting at my desk going
over some notes. When he called, I had a moment where I froze and thought "OH MAN I'M SO
UNPREPARED" but I pulled it together, accepted the call, and took a deep breath...

The interview itself was wonderful! John was incredibly warm and conversational and overall is an
excellent interviewer. He seems to have a natural ability to set people at ease and get them engaged
in the conversation.

Here are the questions I can remember he asked:

1. Where are you from/tell me about your hometown?

2. What activities did you engage in during high school?
3. Walk me through your resume.
4. If I had a conversation with your favorite recommender, how would he answer these two
questions?
a. What two single words would you use to describe this candidate?
b. What would you say this candidate should improve upon?
5. What accomplishment are you most proud of?
6. Do you feel your GMAT and GPA are truly representative of your abilities?
7. What are your short term goals?
8. What is your ultimate long-term goal (in 30 years, things have gone according to plan, what are
you doing?)
9. You've been given an impromptu day off, how do you spend it?
10. Why Kenan Flagler?
11. Why MBA?
12. Any questions for me?

1. walk me through your resume,

2. Why MBA,
3. Why KF,
4. How do you work in a team,
5. Goals,
6. Any difficult hurdle in professional experience,
7. major strengths,
8. major accomplishment,
9. one weakness
10. my Qs.

Introduction,
career goals,
why MBA/why Now,
some work experience related questions,
strenghts,
why kenan-flagler,
Any questions.

The questions were more about getting to know me... why MBA, why now, why UNC, strengths,
weakness, what motivates you etc.
1. Why MBA?
2. Short term goal
3. What motivates you?
4. What leadership skills looking to learn (at this point we discussed their Leadership program in depth)?
5. Why Kenan-Flagler (again leadership conversation)?
6. Ideal position after MBA?
7. Questions for me?

1. Biggest achievement at work

2. Why UNC
3. Why MBA
4. Short term goal
5. Questions for interviewer
6. The whole interview lasted about 45 minutes.

Some of the questions asked were :

1. What do you currently work on?
2. What is the proudest moment at workplace?
3. What are your goals going further?
4. What made you choose UNC as the preferred School?
5. How will you contribute to the MBA program?
6. Strange but: What else do you want us to know that UNC will gain from you ?
7. Questions for me?

1) Did you attend a public or private high school?

2) How did you choose College ABC? Why major in PQR?
3) How were you selected for your job at Company XYZ? Was it through Campus Placement or off-campus
hunt or something else?
4) What makes you get up in the morning, and makes you go to work and be proud in the evening?
5) What has been your biggest contribution at work? Something that you can be proud about and say that yes,
this is something I did for company XYZ!
6) What are some extra-curricular activities that you participated in college?
7) What are your short term and long term goals?
8) Why an MBA from Kenan-Flagler?
9) Your research about KF seems thorough. Where did you learn so much about us?
10) Do your bosses and others at work know about your MBA plans?
11) If I were to call your direct supervisor how would he describe you in two words or short phrases?
12) And what would he say is an area you need to improve in?
13) I haven’t yet looked at your file. So, I don’t really know your GPA or GMAT score. I don’t want you to tell me
your GMAT score. But tell me are you satisfied with it? Do you think it truly represents your capabilities?
At last, he gave me more insights about KF through his personal experiences and asked me for any questions
that I could have from him. Then he showed my résumé scribbled in his handwriting and expressed his
keenness to vouch for me. It was really a wonderful experience!
1. Tell me about why you picked your undergrad school.
2. What did you do during the gaps in your resume (between jobs, after college, etc.)/why are there
gaps?
3. Why did you major in what you majored in (I was pre-law which doesn’t really fit with business
school)?
4. Teamwork is very important to us: tell us an example about how you participated in a team.
5. What is the biggest contribution you have made at your current job?
6. If you got into every business school you applied to, how would you pick which one you would
attend?
7. Do you have any questions for me?

1. Walk me through your resume

2. what’s been your best job (though it’s only been five year since undergrad, I’ve had a lot of jobs)
3. what’s a weakness you have, and how are you working to improve it
4. why mba, why kenan
5. recent example of teamwork
6. most proud of career-wise
7. what skills have you learned from work
8. why did I pick undergrad school
9. questions for me
