Open this file and save it to your directory on the network drive. Resave this file after each step in
this exam. Lost files will mean you must restart the exam and no extra time will be given.

2. Do not attempt to copy files from someone else – we will easily detect the file is not the one you
were using, and you and the person or people you shared with will all receive a mark of

1. Using the Documentation worksheet of the excel file do the following:

a. Select the Metro THEME for the worksheet. Change the style of all the cells to be Accent 1 in
this theme ( white text on green background)
b. Change the style for Cell B3 to be Title and centre it across A3 to E3

c. Add the picture balloon.jpg ( from the zip file) to the Documentation sheet. Resize it and
position it so it covers cells G3 through to K14.

2. Using the Invoice Data worksheet do the following:

a. Change the data in the sheet, so that it is a table (database table) with column headings
Insert an extra column to the right of the existing columns

b. Label the new column GST. Format the cells containing column headings so they take up 2

c. In the GST column, create a formula which calculates the GST Tax based on the Sale Amount
and the Destination State
You will need the percentage GST tax for each state, which is given in the Table on the GST
Rates worksheet. (Hint – Use VLOOKUP)
GST is the Sale Amount multiplied by the GST percentage for this state.
d. Add another column to your table. Label this Total Invoice. In this column put a formula that
calculates Total Invoice by adding GST amount to the Sale Amount.
e. Add a Total Line at the end of the table. In this line, show a count of the total number of sales
and a total value of all sale amounts

a. Make a copy of the Invoice Data worksheet. Rename it to Sales Subtotals and use this sheet for
the rest of Q3
Remove the Total Row and change back to normal excel range instead of the table
b. Sort the data by Sales Agent ,Year then Month

c. Add subtotals to show the total value of sales for agent.


and next add a second subtotal giving total value of sales for each month.

Use the outline buttons to summarise the information so that it shows only the total sales for
each agent.

d. Using the chart wizard, create a Pie chart, on a separate sheet, showing the invoice totals for
each of the agents.
Include a Chart Title, a legend, and choose different colours for each agent. Label each segment
with a percentage

Re-size the chart so that all the legend markings are clearly readable.

a. Apply data validation to the cells in the Sales Agent column so that only the values “Prime”,
Overland” or “Yellow” can be entered in these cells.
b. Find the cell with an incorrect value for this field. How did you find this value? ____________

a. Copy the values from your Pivot Table in Question 5 to the appropriate cells in the Summary

b. Enter a formula in G5 to calculate agent commission, which is the total of quarterly sales
multiplied by the Agent Commission percentage in cell E1. Copy this using autofill to the rest of
column G Write one of your formulas here _______________________

c. In Column H put formulas for Net Revenue. The appropriate formula required to calculate
missing Net Revenue values is
Net Revenue = Total Sales minus Agent Commission

d. Enter formulas in cells C7 to H7 to calculate the Total Sum of each of each column. Format
your Summary Table appropriately for dollar values.

6. In the first quarter of 2004 Hover Transport made a loss. Use the Profit Scenarios worksheet to
investigate what changes need to be made to bring this to a profit situation
a. Create a scenario which uses the fixed costs as the changing cells
Give this Scenario the name Current Situation. Use the existing values
Payroll $78,600

Rental $27,980

for this Scenario.


b. Name the input cells in the scenario appropriately

c. Create a second Scenario with the name Decrease fixed costs and include the comment
–“Reduce fixed costs by 10%”

What is the Margin Percentage for break-even using this Scenario?____________________
d. Create a Scenario Summary Report on a separate worksheet which gives a comparison of the
Current Scenario with the Decrease fixed costs Scenario

Use the Scenario report to display the Net Revenue and Profit as the output cells. Ensure that
all results cells are named ( or edit your summary report so all rows have text names – NOT
$D$19)

Format all data as currency or percentages as appropriate.

e. (Bonus question) Use the Solver to determine what values for Percentage commission ( cell
C3), and Payroll (cell D14) give the break-even point – that is target a profit of zero.

You will need to set some constraints for this – add constraint in the constraints box of the
Solver dialog. The constraints are:
Commission must be at least 2% or more
Payroll must be at least $50,000 or more
Save the Solver result as a Scenario called – Final Solution with the comment – “reduce both
commission and payroll”
