How do we listen?
1. Spend time with God
- Early in the morning or any quiet time we have set to spend with the Lord.
- Give God spaces to talk to you.
- Ask the Lord, “God, is anything You want to speak to me?
- verse related: Matthew 6:33
2. Read the scripture
- Read the bible to hear what God says and listen to what God might want to say on that
particular day.
- Why must we read the scripture?
-> Jesus is our Lord and we need His instructions as our guidance for decision making.
- verse related: 1 Timothy 4:13, Romans 10:17
3. Pray
- Rev. Bruce’s prayer:
“Good morning Father, I’m Your child, You’re my Father. What do You want to say to
me, today? I am Yours, I give my life to You. What do you want to say to me?
- We are encouraged to pray to calm our heart and minds before Him
- verse related: Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 3:5-6
4. Goal
- The goal is to be still and listen to Him.
- verse related: Psalm 62:5, Romans 10:17
Conclusion:
In order to listen to the Lord, we have to practise learning to be still and learning to listen to
God. Do not rush but trust the Lord. We will gradually learn to listen to the Lord when we give God
spaces to talk to us. Jesus can talk to us through many ways, only if we take time to listen. God bless!
