Induction: students will o Any Media (instagram post, explore their identities facebook post, snapchat story) as it relates to race, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender. Students will get to know each other and their advisers in order to build a culture of trust and understanding.
2 Know Thyself - The o Adviser o Advertisement Analysis
Roots of Stereotypes: o Campus Fliers for Recruitment Students will explore (PR Chair) the roots of 6 o IG Post stereotypes for Blacks - #INAG and Latinos, both - #BeMore women and men. They will see the deep historical roots and implications that are seeded in media messaging throughout movies, TV shows, music, fashion, and more. They will explore the negative and positive effects of these stereotypes. 3 Mass Communication o Adviser O Search for inspiration for future 101: How to distribute a target audiences message far and wide O Have students research key using different players in Black, Hispanic, Latinx, platforms. We will Asian communities on Twitter, explore social platforms Instagram, Snapchat, blogs such as: Facebook, o Have students identify subjects Instagram, twitter, that are important to them and snapchat, and more! how they identify in their communities
4 When the Deck is o Adviser o Exploration and Investigation
Stacked Against You: CMS District of Neighborhood maps. Social data will be Representative o Have students identify explored here. Voter confounding variables behind turnout will be analyzed maps and gerrymandering in terms of the I-85 corridor creation. Maps of the CMS district will be provided for students. They will explore the controlling nature of systems, and furthermore brainstorm ideas about how to rise above the systems that oppress minorities and low income communities. 5 Can’t Knock the Hustle: o Adviser O Review types of accounts and An introduction to basic o Community financial goals. Macroeconomic Financial Adviser concepts. Students will explore what it means to be financially sound, learn about growth models for investments, and see how they can be effective financial stewards for themselves and their families.

Boss: Students will o Community learn what it takes to Leaders start a successful business. They will explore how to construct a business plan, learn from community entrepreneurs, and understand what it means to be their own boss.
7 It’s Still Trickin’ if You o Adviser
Got it: Students will be able to understand the implications of balancing their culture with expectations of society. 8 James Crow Esq., the o Adviser New Jim Crow: Students will be able to understand the historical context of slavery and how laws parallel to contemporary slavery in modern society.
9 Stand Your Ground: o Adviser
Knowing your rights as o CMPD Rep an American citizen will o RMJJ Rep greatly influence the interactions community members have with law enforcement.
