1. Karate is a martial art that originated from Japan.
martial arts karate brought into Japan through
okinawa. karate consists of two kanji, the first is 'kara'
means empty, and the second ‘Te’ means hand. of the
two words karate means ‘Empty Hand’.
2. According to Zen-Nippon Karatedo Renmei, most
major styles of karate which consists of two kinds:
a. Shotokan is a school of karate developed by
Gichin Funakoshi (1868-1957) and his son Gigo
(Yoshitaka) Funakoshi (1906-1945). Gichin is one of
the karate master (besides Kenwa Mabuni and Choki
Motobu) who introduced karate to the main islands of
Japan in the 1910s and 1920s.
b. Wado-Ryu is a school of Japanese Karate. This
stream is created by Hironori Otsuka in 1934. He
combines the techniques of martial arts Shindo
Yoshin-ryu Jujutsu with Okinawan Karate martial art
that he learned from Funakoshi (founder of Shotokan
Karate), Kenwa Mabuni (founder of Shito-ryu Karate)
and Choki Motobu (figure Okinawan Kenpo).
