Trujillo
Trujillo is one of the eleven districts of the province of the same name. This districts is the
capital of the province and the region of La Libertad. It is also home to the National
University of Trujillo, an important center of higher education serving the professional and
technological needs of the region and Peru.
Trujillo is famous for its colonial buildings, museums, hospitals, schools, churches,
universities, theaters, hotels, and festivals such the Marinera Festival and the International
Spring Festival.
In the center of the city there is a main square with a monument to Liberty. On this Main
Square or Plaza de Armas, there are some important places such as the Cathedral, the City
Hall and the Regional Government House. The National Bank, the post office, the police
station, the Belen Hospital and the fire station are important places too. These places are
not very far, they are near the main square.
If you travel to Trujillo, you can visit the nearby tourist places such as the ruins of Chan
Chan, the pre-Incan temples of the Sun and the Moon, and the beautiful beach of
Huanchaco with its traditional reed boats. Likewise, you can also enjoy the typical dish of
Shambar, which is served only on Mondays.

PIURA

Piura is the capital of the department of the same name. It is a city famous for its traditions and religious in
Easter and excellent gastronomy; of hot temperature almost all year long and dry weather. It was also the first
city founded by the Spanish in Peru.

In the center of the city of Piura is the main square, where there is a monument called "La Pola". Around the
main square is the cathedral of Piura, the City Hall, the house - museum of Miguel Grau, national hero of
Peru, and the National Bank. If you travel to Piura you can visit nearby tourist places like Catacaos, famous
for its craftsmanship and where you can enjoy a typical dish called Malarrabia, it served only on Fridays of
Lent and Holy Friday; the archeological site of Narihualá, and enjoy its beautiful beaches being the most
visited Máncora.

Te habrás dado cuenta que:
El verbo CAN (poder) va delante del sujeto de la oración en preguntas.
El verbo que siga a CAN va en su forma simple. ¿Qué es una forma SIMPLE? Veamos: el verbo To SEE
(ver) está en infinitivo; su forma simple es solamente see.
En el segundo ejemplo el verbo principal es INCLUDE (Forma simple de To Include). Para hacer preguntas
con este verbo colocamos DO delante del sujeto en plural (en este caso) seguido éste de la forma simple del
verbo.
A continuación tienes dos preguntas con sus respectivas respuestas. Léelas primero para que las completes
con do, can o include. Luego, practícalas oralmente con la ayuda de tu profesor (a).

Trujillo
Chan Chan is a pre-Incan archeological site. It has an approximated area of 20 square kilometers and
it is located about 5 kilometers from the center of Trujillo. This archeological site is one of the
largest cities of adobe in the world and you can get there in 10 minutes on a tour bus.
Chan Chan is composed of 10 citadels: Squier, Gran Chimu, Banndalier, Uhle, Chayhuac, Rivero,
Laberinto, Velarde, Tello and Tschudi. The last one is in a process of restorations. Al the citadels are
protected by high walls with beautiful decorations. Generally, these decorations include figures that
represent marine animals such as pelicans, fish and otters. Also, they represent geometric and other
humanoid-shaped figures.
Because Chan Chan is constructed of adobe, it is vulnerable to rains, storms, winds, etc. That is the
reason why we should take care of this invaluable World Heritage.

1. The Huaca of Narihuala is the main settlement of the culture Tallan.
2. It was declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation on February 19, 2003.
3. Narihualá is a village located 2 km from the city of Catacaos down the road of Bajo Piura.
4. The archaeological context Narihuala consists of artificial headlands of varying magnitude
and varying heights.
5. The main Huaca has an area encompassing 6 hectares with a maximum height of 40m linear.
