NTPC-TTPS Issues

1. 220KV AREVA make breakers, are giving frequent problem on

mechanism box mal-operation/non-operation (trip/close latch
mechanism functions are not satisfactory, giving frequent trouble).

2. SF6 gas leakage in 132KV ABB make breaker type: LTB 145 D1/B.
It has been observed that the gas leakage is mostly from insulator
petticoat of bottom insulator or density monitor of AKM make.

3. Unit-5 Generator Rotor Failure, GT R-Phase OCTC contact burning due to

mal-operation of 220KV R-phase Breaker Mechanism.

4. Stage-II Generator Rotor Spare- Repair work with BHEL is lined up.

5. CTIG 15 relays are being used in St-I HT SWGR CBCT based sensitive
earth fault protection. HT Switchgear is there in TG floor. During
summer, stage-1 TG area temperature rises up to 450. Some of the
above relays were found defective during AOH relay testing. It may be
requested to suggest suitable relays for this type of application.

6. L&T make Stacker Reclaimer-No response from L&T for spare supply

7. In CHP 3.3KV SWGR, V7 type Vacuum bottles spare not supplied by

ABB.

8. Stage-I Westinghouse 3.3KV SWGR –No spares and Service available

from OEM as OEM is presently not existing.

9. Station tripping due to 132 KV Bus Failure resulting in unavailability of

Compressed Air supply.
10. 4 out of 32 ESP Rectiformers (M/s ADORE), supplied during R&M, failed
within 2.5 Years. Choke Coil is also failing.

11.ARECA-2 Microcontroller of BHEL is having problems like screen freezing,

Display failure, current measuring feedback element failure etc.

12. St-II CW Motor-Presently no standby is there- M/s Edison is now doing

the recoring and rewinding of both Stator and Rotor. Expected delivery
schedule-1st Motor-March 2018, 2ndMotor-30th June 2018.

13.Very poor service from M/s OTIS Elevator Ltd.

14.Manpower Issues

Major job completed in 2017-18

1. Generator NGT replacement in all 6 Units
2. Generator Slip Ring Machining carried out in St-I units
3. Replacement of DCS and UPS of unit#5 Ni-Cd battery bank.
4. Replacement of numerical motor protection relay in unit#5 6.6KV
switchgear

Major Job to be taken up in 2018-19

1. Replacement of unit#6 GT during AOH
2. Replacement of 132KV MOCB breaker with SF6 breaker in TTPS-
Duburi-I line
3. OH of 220KV/6.6KV station transformer #IIB
5. OH of mechanism boxes of 220KV Areva breaker (Now under GE T&D)
6. Arresting of SF6 gas leakages in 132KV ABB breaker
7. Commissioning of one more 6.6KV Instrument Air Compressor for
avoiding Station Tripping.
