2.1. What are the risks a company faces when develops a new technology?
R/ The risks that a company faces are:
That the employees are able to handle this new field and the exploitation will be notorious in
the company, besides that the company is exposed to the new technology being a benefit or
disadvantage according to the management that the employees can give them.
Another risk is a new monetary investment in maintenance of equipment and networks,
which allow proper management and avoid further damage around the information handled
by technology.
2.2. Is innovation a real opportunity for poverty eradication in undeveloped countries? Why?
R/ I think so, because it will allow easier access to education and employment that did not
exist before. It will allow us to improve the quality and well-being of people, not only in our
country but also throughout the world, this will be a really difficult process, but over time, it
will be possible and very beneficial for society.
2.3. It is important for Colombian companies, to protect its invention?
R/ it is very important for Colombia to protect each one of them since this will allow a
permanent and optimal development of the technology that in the future will serve for the
improvement, besides that it will allow the prevention of robberies or imitations of this before
it happens and it appears a problem.
Ensure that each invention allows the improvement at all times of this, improving every time
in the course of time

2.4. What is World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)?

R/ WIPO is the global forum in terms of intellectual property services, policies, cooperation
and information (P.I.). It is a self-financed United Nations agency with 191 member states.
Whose mission is to take the initiative in the development of an international system of P.I.
balanced and effective, allowing innovation and creativity for the benefit of all. (OMPI,
2007)

2.5. What types of intellectual property exist and how are defined by the WIPO?
R/ Intellectual property is divided into two categories:
 Industrial property: is the one that covers patents for invention, brands, industrial
designs and geographical indications
 Copyright: is the one that covers literary works (for example, the novels, the poems
and the plays), movies, music, artistic works (for example, drawings, paintings,
photographs and sculptures) and architectural designs. Related rights to the right of
author are the rights of the performers and performers on their performances, those
of the producers of phonograms on their recordings and those of the Broadcasting
organizations regarding your programs of radio and television…(OMPI, 2007)2.6.
2.6. What is Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC)?

R/ It is a facilitator for the access of innovators from developing countries to local


information services on technology and other high quality related services, helping
them to exploit their innovative potential and to create, protect and manage their
intellectual property (IP) rights (IMPO, 2007)

2.7 What is Inventor Assistance Program IAP?

R/The, Inventor Assistance Program (PAI) is an initiative of WIPO in cooperation


with the World Economic Forum, the first global program of its kind. Which is in
charge of linking inventors and small businesses in low-income developing countries
with patent rights that are willing to provide legal assistance services without charge
for obtaining patent protection (IMPO, 2007)
