Design Opportunity
a. What is your idea? My idea is to create a 1 on 1 scale house. This idea will cover
my technical aspect since I will have to use inputs to create exact
measurements.
b. Why is it important to you? It’s important to me because I need to get a project
done that’s more technical. Therefore, I decided to do something I may like,
and 3D modelling software, Google Sketch Up.
c. What is your part in the idea? My part in the idea is to create a modern house
that will be able to build in the real world with exact measurements.
2. Identify Potential Users
a. Who would use your idea? Possible Architects, or clients who would like a
unique, modern house.
b. What is it intended to do? It’s intended to create a unique modern house using a
software that is very different from others. Architects can use more than just
AutoCAD to create designs.
c. What are some possible negative consequences of your idea? Some people
may not like the design of the house. Also, it may not be a reality to build since
it isn’t engineered yet.
3. Premises and Boundaries
a. What will you need to carry out your idea? Inspiration, and Google Sketch Up.
b. Do we have the materials/resources/technologies that you need? No, I would
have to download the program at my house.
c. What boundaries could prevent you from succeeding in creating your idea?
Ms. Sihota not accepting it as a technical idea. Not have enough knowledge in
Google Sketch Up.

4. Risk
a. How are you taking a creative risk? What gaps are you filling in the existing
world? I am a taking a risk, because houses don’t normally look like this. This is
a very unique design, and in reality, there isn’t any homes that look like this,
and if it does get built in the real world, it will certainly be a first, and an eye
popper.
b. How do you plan to overcome obstacles you may have discovered in question
3? I will try to convince Ms. Sihota to allow me to create this project as a
technical project, due to it being one. I also will research and watch multiple
videos on the software.
5. Outside Considerations
a. How will competing social, ethical, and sustainability considerations impact
your idea? This house is built by sustainability. The roofs, being black isn’t a
typical roof. It will be a solar powered roof. In the garage, there is a battery
which will use solar power to power the house. Also, the glass windows will be
triple-glazed, preventing outside coolness, or hotness to affect the temperature
of the interior.
6. Plan
a. What programs do you intend to use? Google Sketch Up
b. What exercises/prototyping will you do to prepare for your final piece?
Sketches, hand drawned.
7. What do you need from your teachers, peers or others? I will need opinions on the
house design to check people’s reactions towards this new design.
