Civil Engineering: Civil Engineering is one of the broadest and oldest of the engineering
disciplines, extending across many technical specialties. Civil Engineers plan, design, and
supervise the construction of facilities essential to modern life like space satellites and launching
facilities, offshore structures, bridges, buildings, tunnels, highways, transit systems, dams,
airports, harbors, water supply system and wastewater treatment plants. A civil engineer requires
not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and administrative skills.
So to fulfill my goal and to overcome in todays’ challenging world I have to become master in
this field and to have a vast knowledge about the architecture and engineering. Therefore I select
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering as my post graduate course.

2. Please specify importance of the subject you tend to work on, your background related to
subject and what your contribution will be.
The rapid development of our infrastructure has given a great rise in the needs of excellent civil
engineers that are required to meet the challenging demands. While a bachelor’s degree could give you
the right technical skills and knowledge to enter in the civil engineering field, a master’s program
provides the engineers a pathway towards a prominent leadership role As I studied Civil
Engineering as my bachelor degree, during this course I have learned lot many things about Civil
Engineering in general and Civil and Industrial Construction in specific as my specialization , so
for having a vast knowledge and comprehensive information and become professional in this
field I need to continue my education in this field and pursue Master’s in Civil Engineering as
my postgraduate course.
I come from a country (Afghanistan) where there has been war and conflicts for several decades
and in terms of infrastructure, it is one of the less developed country. Even if there are a few they
are not up to the standard and I have a strong desire to change this scenario and bring some
changes and use the innovative and modern strategies for development of infrastructures in
Afghanistan.

There are many prominent universities in Turkey which has business and management programs
specially MBA, which are Koc University, Istanbul Aydin University, Yildiz Technical
University, Yeditepe University, Okan University, Sabanci University, Ozyegin University,
Izmir University.
 4. Please provide information about your plans after completing your post-graduate study.

After completion of my Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, I would like to return to my country and
to contribute in the development of infrastructure and architecture, applying new strategies and
standard methods that I have learned during my studies in Turkey and to share my experience and
knowledge learned in three most precious years during my post-graduation course in Turkey in the
field of Civil Engineering.
My specific plan is to start my own engineering and architecture Services Company. As
Afghanistan is a developing country and there is very less number of projects which are
implanted in era of infrastructure and development. Today millions of people in my country
suffer from the lack of proper infrastructures such as highways, bridges, roads, buildings and
other basic necessities.
I as a citizen of Afghanistan feel to be responsible towards my country and society to provide
services for the society and take part in the development of my country and I can fulfill this
responsibility by teaching others what I have learned and sharing my knowledge and experience
and putting to action what I have learned which I am committed to accomplish my plan and
achieve my goal.

5. Please express the reasons for your department/program of study preferences and
briefly explain how your educational background relates to your preferences.

I preferably choose Master’s in Civil Engineering as I studied Civil and Industrial Construction during my
graduation course and I have learned the concepts of construction, architecture, designing etc. I also have
studied various engineering programs such AUTO CAD, REVIT, CIVIL 3D So to become a profession
and well skilled in Civil Engineering, I need to go for Master’s in Civil Engineering that will help me to
get more experience and knowledge in this field and I can contribute to the development of my country
and any areas needed.
