Definition Separator

Separator is a pressurized tube used to separate the well fluids into water and
gas (three phases) or liquids and gases (two phases), where separation can be
done in several ways:

Major sections
Separator
• The initial separation section

In the early part of the split fluid first go to separator will change the flow fluid and produce a
dirty separation (gross separation) by gravity or centrifuga, fluid the heavier will fall to the
bottom separator

• The liquid collecting section

to collect and remove the collected fluid, this portion of the volume should be sufficient to
overcome the fluid shock that may occur under normal operating conditions so that the
separate fluid is not disturbed by gas

• The mist part of the extractor

In this section there are tools mist extractor which serves to separate the grains liquid which is
very small by precipitated in gravity.

Equipment Separator
a. The inside of the eparator

• This equipment is mounted on the back inlet separator , in the form of a slab whose purpose
is to withstand collisions that come due to speed fluid that goes to separator and
accelerate the process of separation of gases and liquids. deflector plate also serves to slow
the flow of incoming streams to separator

b. Straightening vanes

Contained on horizontal separator serves to eliminate that flow Turbulent be laminer,after

being separated from inlet deflector.

c. Weir

Weir is a wall mounted perpendicularly within the separator. This equipment has a function
for separating the room and holding the fluid inside the separator before the separator
leaves the separator, thereby helping to increase the living time of the liquid

d. Vortex breaker
vortex breaker serves to prevent the occurrence of vortex, so that the gas does not
participate in the liquid.

e. Mist extractor(demister pad)

This tool works as filter or liquid granular filter which is still in contact with gas or liquefied
liquid or more than 10 micron separated

Section parts outside high peressure separator

Level controller

this device is connected to radar and control valve so it can regulate the
solids of liquid inside separator

Pressure controller

This tool is connected with control valve which functions to

control pressure in separator if pressure work beyond the trick of work
then safety valve will open to discard pressure

sight glass

Because in separator 3 phase, the liquid surface is divided into 2 phases

ie condensate and water, then the glass of the suspect can be seen the
surface position

Manometer (pressure gauge)

this tool is installed on the outside separator and serves to know the
amount of pressure that is working on separator

Relief valve (preasure safety valve)

when a moment of pressure is within separator rise suddenly and

uncontrollably, then this tool as a safety device will open and throw the
existing press so that the separator does not break.

Bloedoen valve

blowdown valve works almost the same as relief valve namely for
safety tools but the difference blowdown valve only works when
emergency only
 Shutdown valve

function to close the flow in case of HHP, LLP or HHL, LLL on high
pressure separator.

Man hole

This section is useful if at any time separator need to clean, then the
operator who will clean the inside separator will go through man
