NEED OF SMART PARKING SOLUTION??
 With more and more vehicles' adding to city roads
daily there is a urgent need of a smart parking
solution
 In Delhi itself 1 Lakh cars are added to roads per
month
 With Cars penetrating to every section of the
society
 Development of parking system on small level is
important for small housing complex
 These system should be cost effective without
compromising on the security and safety
CONVENTIONAL SOLUTIONS
 Large scale project
 Heavy investment
 Maintenance cost is high
 Larger Area
THE PROBLEMS
The problems that are not being covered in the
conventional parking solutions:
 Less parking space in residential area

 Cap

 Less investment

 Less maintenance cost

OUR SOLUTION
 Optimization of space
 Using a space of 4 cars
 Parking 11 cars
 4 Floors
 Less maintenance
 Less investment
 Only 3 motors used
 Security
 No car damage
 No theft
 Password protection
 Fully automatic
 Environment friendly
 Reliable
HARDWARE USED
 8051 & its standard connections
 Motor driver L293D
 3 stepper motors
 12 light sensors
 Matrix keyboard
 Keil Software to program
 Assembly language
PROTOTYPE DESCRIPTION

 Building Description
 Parking Slot
 Elevator
 Gear system
BUILDING DESCRIPTION
 Height
 4 floors
 Floors can be increased
X
 Space
 Using space of 4 cars
 Our prototype is 4X4 matrix

 Motor
 Motor “X”
 At the top for the building

 Light Sensors
 11 for parking slots
 1 for elevator
PARKING SLOTS

C
A B
 Column “A & B” same conveyer
 Column “C” separate conveyer

 No motors
ELEVATOR
 Separate conveyer
 2 motors
 Motor Y
 Motor Z

 Gear system
Y

Z
GEAR SYSTEM
 Y motor is giving drive to the
Z
platform
 Alternate gears in turn moves Y
the conveyer of the elevator
 Z motor allows to engage and
disengage the conveyer of the
elevator and parking slot

BENEFITS
 Optimization of the space as compare to conventional
parking
 Use of 3 motor only
 Less initial cost and less maintenance required
 Fully automatic
 Can be used in large infrastructure like hospital, malls,
official area.
 No human error
 More safety and reliability
 Simple infrastructure/design
 Converting 4 slots parking space into 11 slots space
 Probability of accidents is very less
 Environment friendly as car engine are off while being
parking in or out

IMPLEMENTATION STUDY AT:
NEHRU PALACE PARKING,
NEAR PARAS CINEMA,
DELHI
WHY NEHRU PALACE ??
 largest IT market in Asia with
over 700 computer dealers .
 Computer dealers from all
over India come to Nehru
place to make their
IT purchases everyday.
 Limited parking spaces
available
 Very High commercial value
of land
 Parking mafia harasses the
costumers by overcharging,
parking vehicles illegally etc.

PRESENT PARKING CONDITION
Total Available Parking Space
= Parking A + Parking B
= 45 * 81 + 40 * 30 m2
= 3645 + 1200
=4845m2
81 Meters

Average No. Of Cars Parked Daily

=Parking A + Parking B
45 Meters = 150 + 50 = 200
30 Meters
120 Meters
Current Scenario Peak Parking
Space Requirement
~400 Cars (A+B)

Nehru Palace Parking, Image Courtesy: Google

PURPOSED PARKING LAYOUT AND SPACE SAVING
: FOR PARKING A
Total Area Covered(Parking A)
= 81 * 45 m2

Area Left(Parking B)
= 1200 m2
Commercial value of Land in
Nehru Palace Area ~ 6.50 Lakh/ m2 *

Commercial value of Area Saved (Parking

B)
= 1200* 6.50 Lakh
= 78 Crore

Earlier Max. Peak Load = 200 45 m

Now,The Capacity Designed For = 396
Dividing it into 36 Parking Buildings (As shown in fig. Above)

Therefore,
Percentage Increase in parking space = 46.96%
*As inquired with Property Dealer
INVESTED COST PAY BACK PLANS
Plan 1: Instant Payback/Profit plan
 Total cost of the project = 7.80 Crore**
 Commercial Value of land Saved(Parking B) = 78 Crore
 Instant Profit if the Parking System is installed

Plan 2: Payback through parking charges

Total Parking space : 396 Cars
Parking Charges in Delhi : 10 Rs per hour
It is assumed Nehru Palace parking would be full for 15 hours and 50%
occupied for night 9 hours

Daily parking charges collected = (15*10+9*10/2)= Rs.195 Daily for one

parking slot(after paying running and maintenance charges)
Cost Per Parking Slot = 7.80/396 = Rs.1.96 Lakh**
Pay Back Period= 196000/195 Days
=1006 days = 2.75 Years **Cost analysis on page no XXX of project report
