Opportunity to help and be helped are things to be cherished. The

activity that we did last time February 7, 2018 of extending a hand to other
people especially to those less fortunate was quite a heartwarming sight. It
was indeed an inspiring and heartwarming activity encourage us BSHRM 1A
to exercise making other people happy. Bonding with the children in the
Barangay 140, was an honor for those who attended. In their own little ways,
they made them happy. The feeding program activity experience based on
the students had allowed them to share what they have and bring smiles to
children.

Having the opportunity to interact with the children in other places gave
them additional learning of life. I have learned through them that happiness
and contentment are choices. We have our freedom to choose, whether to
be happy and be contented in life or not. However, I realized that the activity
was just a fleeting relief to their hunger. There is a much deeper and broader
hunger that needs to be satisfied- hunger for a decent life with love.

With this, I also learned to appreciate things around me, especially

Gods countless blessings that I did not pay much attention to before. It also
taught me that life is not all about receiving, but also about giving and sharing
what one can offer. No matter whether we are rich or poor, we must always
remember that God is counting us to help others. I know that being with the
children was such a great feeling for those attended especially when they
made them laugh. Somehow in some simple ways, we could bring happiness
to others. We could make a meaningful day doing a goo deeds for the
children.

Helping other people makes me feel happy a lot. It makes me feel

worth of myself because I see that I am useful, especially in my very own
community. This activity had helped me to be trained to serve the Barangay
140 in the best way we can. During the time of preparing the foods, gifts
reminding us to more grateful sharing to the children. It is not a waste of
money to buy certain things like that. I had a sudden change of heart while
seeing them happily playing with my classmates.

When people are asked why they give, the readiest answers include:
God wants me to; I feel better about myself; others need, and I have; I want
to share; it’s only right. I imagine you felt very pleased with yourself and
happy inside. It has been my experience that when you’re focused on giving
to others you’re less likely to become consumed by your own concerns and
challenges. Giving provides an opportunity to look beyond our own world and
see the bigger picture. A great perspective can be achieved by stepping out
of our own world and venturing into the world of other people. Your worries
and challenges may not seem as significant when compared to other
people’s situations.

The act of giving kindles self-esteem and brings happiness. Happiness

is related to how much gratitude you show. After several years of soul
searching, I discovered that my unhappiness was due to my want for things
to fill the void of loneliness. During this process of self-realization, I also
discovered “The Purpose of Living.” Yes, I believe that giving thanks makes
you happier. But don’t take my word for it—try it out for yourself.
