SECTION 10801

TOILET AND BATH ACCESSORIES

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION:

A. Provide toilet and bath accessories as indicated and specified.

(NTS: Select and list specification sections for inserting into this subsection based on the
following:
1. Specification sections that contain products and construction that the reader might
expect to find in this section BUT are specified elsewhere.
2. Specification sections referenced in the body of this section.)

1.04 SUBMITTALS:

A. Submit the following in accordance with Section 01300:

1. Manufacturer's data and specifications and other product data required to


demonstrate compliance with the specified requirements.

2. Product Schedule: Indicating types, quantities, sizes, and installation locations by


room of each accessory required. Use room designations indicated on Drawings.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A. Provide in accordance with Section 01400 and as specified.

B. Materials, devices, equipment and apparatus of a patented or of a special nature of


manufacture shall be prepared, applied, or installed in strict accordance with the
manufacturer's directions.

C. Work of this Section shall be executed in strict accordance with Drawings, and approved
Shop Drawings.

D. Provide all holes, connections, and fastenings for and to work of other trades abutting,
adjoining or intersecting work of this Section.

1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING:

A. Provide in accordance with Section 01610 and as specified.

1.07 COORDINATION:

A. Coordinate accessory locations with other work to prevent interference with clearances
required for access by disabled persons, proper installation, adjustment, operation,
cleaning, and servicing of accessories.

B. Deliver inserts and anchoring devices set into concrete or masonry as required to prevent
delaying the Work.

1.08 WARRANTY:

A. General: Special warranty specified in this Article shall not deprive Owner of other rights
Owner may have under other provisions of the Contract Documents and shall be in
addition to, and run concurrent with, other warranties made by Contractor under
requirements of the Contract Documents.

B. Special Mirror Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to
repair or replace mirrors that develop visible silver spoilage defects within 15 years from
date of Substantial Completion.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS:

A. Stainless Steel: ASTM A 666, Type 304, No. 4 finish (satin), 0.0312-inch (0.79 mm)
minimum nominal thickness, unless otherwise indicated.

B. Steel Sheet: ASTM A 1008/A 1008M, 0.0359-inch minimum nominal thickness.

C. Galvanized Steel Sheet: ASTM A 653/A 653M, G60.

D. Mirror Glass: ASTM C 1036, Type I, Class 1, Quality q2, nominal 6.0 mm thick, with
silvering, electroplated copper coating, and protective organic coating complying with FS
DD-M-411.

E. Galvanized Steel Mounting Devices: ASTM A 153/A 153M, hot-dip galvanized after
fabrication.

F. Fasteners: Screws, bolts, and other devices of same material as accessory unit, tamper
and theft resistant when exposed, and of galvanized steel when concealed.

G. Keys: Provide universal keys for internal access to accessories for servicing and
resupplying. Provide minimum of three keys to Owner's representative.

2.02 TOILET AND BATH ACCESSORIES:

A. Toilet Tissue Dispenser:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Model B-4288; Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc.

2. Type: Roll-in-reserve dispenser with hinged front secured with tumbler lockset.

3. Mounting: Surface mounted with concealed anchorage.

4. Material: Stainless steel.

5. Operation: Noncontrol delivery with standard spindle.

6. Capacity: Designed for two, 4-1/2- or 5-inch- diameter-core tissue rolls.

B. Combination Towel Dispenser/Waste Receptacle:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Model B-43944; Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc.

2. Type: Recessed with projecting receptacle designed for a nominal 4-inch (100 mm)
wall depth.

3. Towel-Dispenser Capacity: 600 C-fold or 800 multifold paper towels.

4. Waste-Receptacle Capacity: 16 gal. (61 L)

5. Accessories: Vinyl, reusable waste-receptacle liner, tumbler locksets, and


removable front panel at waste receptacle for cleaning ease.

C. Liquid-Soap Dispenser:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Model B-8226; Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc.

2. Mounting: Deck mounted on vanity.

3. Capacity: 34 fl. oz. (1 L)

4. Materials: Chrome-plated, high-impact resistant ABS escutcheon with bright


polished finish and concealed locking mechanism; high-impact-resistant plastic
body and shank; antibacterial-soap-resistant plastic cylinder valve with stainless
steel spring and u-packing seal and duckbills; and shatter-resistant polyethylene
container.

5. Stainless-Steel Soap Valve: Designed for dispensing soap in liquid form.

6. Lockset: Tumbler type.

7. Refill Indicator: Window type.

D. Grab Bar:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: B-6806 Series, straight and swing-up (wall mounted)


models; Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc.

2. Material: Stainless steel, 0.05 inch (1.27 mm) thick.

3. Mounting: Concealed.

4. Gripping Surfaces: Slip-resistant texture.

E. Sanitary Napkin Disposal Unit:

3. Material: Stainless steel.

4. Door or Cover: Self-closing.

5. Receptacle: Removable and reusable.

F. Mirror Unit:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Model B-165 Series; Bobrick Washroom Equipment,


Inc.

2. Frame: Stainless-steel channel.

3. Size: As indicated on Drawings.

G. Shower Curtain:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Models B-204-2 and B-204-1; Bobrick Washroom


Equipment, Inc.

2. Material: 0.008-inch- thick vinyl, with integral antibacterial agent.

3. Grommets: Corrosion-resistant at minimum 6 inches (150 mm) o.c. through top


hem.

4. Size: Minimum 6 inches wider than opening by 72 inches (1829 mm) high.

5. Color: White.

6. Shower Curtain Hooks: Chrome-plated or stainless-steel, spring wire curtain hooks


with snap fasteners, sized to accommodate specified curtain rod. Provide one hook
per curtain grommet.

H. Mop and Broom Holder:

1. Basis-of-Design Product: Model B-239; Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc.

2. Material: Stainless steel.

3. Length: 36 inches (914 mm).

4. Shelf: 0.05-inch (1.27 mm) thick stainless steel.

5. Hooks: Four.

6. Mop/Broom Holders: Three, spring-loaded, rubber hat, cam type.

2.03 FABRICATION:

A. General: Materials shall be free from defects impairing strength, durability or appearance.

B. Sections and shapes shall be rolled, formed, drawn or extruded as required for respective
functions.

C. Molded work shall have sharply defined profile and shall be clean and straight. Plain
work shall be leveled, straight and surfaces true and smooth. Edges, angles, and corners
shall be square, clean and sharp, unless otherwise detailed.

D. Fastenings, exposed metal fastenings, and accessories, unless Underwriters prohibit for
safety, shall be of same materials, texture, color and finish as the base metal to which
applied.

E. Molds, trim, frames and other metalwork shall be proper dimensions to receive masonry
block and tile, plaster, ceramic tile, or other scheduled finishes.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION:

A. Install accessories using fasteners appropriate to substrate indicated and recommended by


unit manufacturer. Install units level, plumb, and firmly anchored in locations and at
heights indicated.

1. Provide concealed wood blocking [3/4" (19 mm) plywood covering 32" (813 mm)
x 32" (813 mm) area] in stud walls for attachment of accessories.

2. Install grab bars to withstand a downward load of at least 250 lbf (113 kg), when
tested according to method in ASTM F 446. Grab bars shall be screwed to solid 2x
blocking in stud partitions.

B. Adjust accessories for unencumbered, smooth operation and verify that mechanisms
function properly. Replace damaged or defective items. Remove temporary labels and

protective coatings.

C. Toilet Accessories:

1. Provide 1 mirror over each lavatory, in accordance with manufacturer's


instructions.

2. Provide grab bars, screwed to solid blocking in stud partitions.

3. Provide one toilet paper holder for each water closet.

4. Provide one sanitary napkin disposal at each woman’s water closet.

5. Provide one combination towel dispenser/waste receptacle for each toilet and
locker room.

6. Install one soap dispenser for each lavatory.

7. Provide one mop holder at each slop sink.

8. Provide one shower curtain at each shower and each shower drying compartment.

3.02 CONTRACT CLOSEOUT:

A. Provide in accordance with Section 01700.
