It is my pleasure to share with you some

have available for you here at Kenjgewin
Teg in 2018 and 2019. Kenjgewin Teg
welcomes all students who are ready
to pursue their academic goals while
gaining a greater understanding of the
Mnidoo Mnising Anishinabek. Our

our learning systems.

Over the last 12 months, Kenjgewin Teg has carefully planned

funding options available to students ranging from sponsorship, OSAP, awards, and
bursaries, our team of counselors will do our best to work with you to reach your pathway.
At Kenjgewin Teg we are a community-based site that cultivates small class sizes and
individual attention to your learning success. We value Anishinabe Aadziwin learnings that
will be embedded throughout the program and learning environment. We will support your
personal, spiritual and emotional wellness while you attend Kenjgewin Teg.
One thing is for sure if you want to succeed we will do everything we can to the best of
our ability to ensure you do too! We are located here in M’Chigeeng, centrally located

When considering enrolling in one of
Kenjgewin Teg’s community-based
programs, you will also be joining our
Anishinabek place of learning.
As a student of Kenjgewin Teg, you will
become part of standard organizational
practices implemented which have been
designed to support both student and
staff personal development. Learning
within an Anishinabek worldview is
integral to Kenjgewin Teg’s philosophy
of learning and education. Kenjgewin
Teg strives to achieve this goal by
adopting standards and processes for
students, for educators, for curriculum
content and as a place of learning.
Kenjgewin Teg will provide many
opportunities throughout the year
for learning in language, traditions,
and culture, and you will have the
opportunity to choose the areas which
interest you! As you travel through
the successes and challenges of your

OUR TRADITIONAL
KNOWLEDGE KEEPERS
Kenjgewin Teg believes that education
includes building a strong foundation for
personal resilience and pride in wholistic
learning and development.
For this reason, Kenjgewin Teg strives to include
Traditional Anishinabek Knowledge Holders as part
of our core sources of teaching Mino Bmaadziwin,
as well as being part of our pedagogical strategy in
transmitting knowledge for learning in a respectful
way. As its core source of knowledge and guidance,
Kenjgewin Teg is pleased to have knowledge
holders that we look to for guidance and assistance
in many areas in our organizational structure
and governance. While our current Traditional
Knowledge Keepers help strengthen the core
of our organization by sharing their unique gifts,
we also utilize many other Traditional Knowledge
Keepers in the direct delivery of programs. In
our philosophy of Anishinabek education, we
believe that learning is a lifelong journey. Defining
and implementing our educational purpose
at Kenjgewin Teg plays a significant role in
Bmaadziwin for our students, community and
Nation; for Kenjgewin Teg, this means that we
continuously strive to nurture confident, resilient
learners who are culturally grounded in personal
identity and who are active participants engaged
in their own learning with high aspirations in
becoming a good citizen of Mother Earth…

Anishinabek cultural inclusiveness must exist

A wide range of student support
services provide advice and guidance
(Literacy and Basic Skills)
to students of Kenjgewin Teg regarding
educational issues, planning, career Kenjgewin Teg is currently providing service available for all Manitoulin Island residents. The Maawndoo
exploration, as well as personal Kinoomaagasiwin program helps adults in Ontario to develop and apply communication, numeracy,
interpersonal and digital skills to achieve their goals. The Maawndoo Kinoomaagasiwin program serves
growth, development and life skills learners who have goals to successfully transition to employment, postsecondary, apprenticeship, secondary
coaching. Additional services include school, and increased independence. The Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF) is the
cornerstone of Employment Maawndoo Kinoomaagasiwin Program, helping adults to achieve their goals of
Individual Education Plans/Academic further education, work, and independence. The OALCF is a competency-based framework that supports the
Career Counselling, Tutoring and Peer development of adult literacy programming delivered through the Maawndoo Kinoomaagasiwin Program.

to Ontario residents who are out of school and
communicate in English. Special emphasis is placed on
serving individuals who are receiving social assistance
through Ontario Works. Services are free, and
Kenjgewin Teg is pleased to be a newly designated site
serving Manitoulin Island, in directed and self-directed
format, and online through e-Channel service delivery.

Have you been out of school for some time and
need to update your skills?
Missing required courses or need higher grades
to apply for a college program?
Academic Upgrading can help you achieve your
postsecondary, apprenticeship, or career goals. You
will learn at a flexible pace and choose the courses
that are right for you. Begin your journey with us!
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This flexible training is tailored to suit your
educational and/or employment goals. You can attend
these programs on a full- or part-time basis to suit
your busy schedule.
ACADEMIC AND CAREER
ENTRANCE PROGRAM (ACE)
The ACE program allows you to upgrade your academic
skills and prepares you for further education. Studies
may include communications, mathematics, biology,
and chemistry. Successful completion of the ACE
Program provides a Grade 12 equivalence that is
recognized for admission to college post-secondary
programs and apprenticeship training in Ontario.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This Ontario College Graduate Certificate program to
provide professionals with knowledge and skills to
improve FASD services, to impact policy development
and to understand the complex challenges facing
families, individuals and communities at risk for,
or living with, FASD. Effective prevention and
intervention strategies, research and professionalism
are emphasized so that services may be delivered
in a respectful and culturally competent manner
toward achieving balance and harmony in the context
of wholistic health and healing of all community
members. All courses must be completed
successfully within 5 years of registration for first
course. Note: A maximum of 3 FASD courses may be
taken prior to registration in the certificate program.

Sault College`s Business program has ranked higher
than the provincial program average in student
satisfaction over the past two years, making it an
excellent investment in your future career. In 2014, the
program received 100% satisfaction from graduates.
The Business diploma program specializes in providing
you with the best education possible in the competitive
world of business. Well-respected instructors, guest
speakers, and curriculum integrate the use of current
technologies and innovative software in a simulation
of the real world of business, giving you the edge,
you need to succeed; the Business diploma program
will provide you with a unique set of skills that are
in increasing demand and highly regarded by the
business community.

This one-year certificate program trains students to
offer personal care and home management services
to clients in community or institutional settings.
Students learn hands-on in the classroom along with
community placements. PSWs are highly sought-after
as health care providers, working under a regulated
health professional or in a supported independent
living environment.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Learn the specialized skills of the trade on industry-
standard machines in our newly built lab. You will learn
multiple welding processes at one of our individual
welding stations, including shield metal arc welding
(SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), gas metal
arc and gas tungsten arc welding, FUSION welding,
brazing, and cutting techniques. Skills learned are
highly transferable and versatile as welding is used
in several trades including electrical, and automotive.
Graduates will have completed all position welding
training and possible Canadian Welding Bureau
Certification.
NOTE: Successful completion is equivalent to Level 1

A great learning opportunity for current educators seeking
to enhance their classroom proficiency in Anishinabek
worldview in learning and in personal language proficiency!
This course is a professional learning opportunity for
educators who are registered with the Ontario College of
Teachers – Kenjgewin Teg is an approved AQ provider.
TEACHING OJIBWE
The program offers 120 hours of intense Anishinaabe-only
immersion. Under this model, instructors, facilitators and
students alike live, eat, learn, clean, and even travel on
field trips together in Anishinaabemowin. This program
has a strict, no English, Anishinaabemowin immersion
setting. Participants are in an immersion-based setting
for approximately 10-12 days, and complete the course
with enhanced confidence in speaking, any time and any
occasion, in their own Anishinabek communities.
Land based instruction will be included in this AQ course,
as an integral link between language and culture. This
intensive 120-hour course can be challenging for some
learners in a full immersion setting. For this reason,
students will be thoroughly screened so that all who
come will have a positive attitude, contributing to an
educational, fun, and safe learning environment needed
for all students to succeed.
This AQ course effectively maintains an
Anishinaabemowin setting and provides an excellent
means of networking for likeminded people within the
revitalization movement.
